Staying at Jiuhuli·Siheyuan Guesthouse (Ancient City Drum Tower Branch) 玖合里·四合院民宿（大同古城华严寺店） was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The location is absolutely unique — being inside the ancient city walls of Datong and staying in a traditional Chinese courtyard house made the entire experience feel authentic and unforgettable. It is much more than just a hotel; it is a cultural experience. The decoration and design are impeccable: elegant, refined, and beautifully done with incredible attention to detail. The rooms are extremely comfortable, with high-quality products, premium facilities, and a very peaceful atmosphere that made us feel at home immediately. What made our stay even more exceptional was the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond in every possible way. They helped us arrange an excellent private driver at a very reasonable price, which allowed us to enjoy a perfectly smooth and efficient day visiting three major attractions outside the city: the Hanging Temple, the Yungang Grottoes, and the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. Everything was organized flawlessly, making the trip completely stress-free and enjoyable. Overall, the service was simply amazing from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Datong who wants not only comfort and beauty, but also a genuine and memorable local experience. 入住玖合里·四合院民宿（大同古城华严寺店）是我们这次旅行中最难忘的体验之一。民宿位于大同古城城墙内，住在传统四合院里，让人真正感受到浓厚的历史文化氛围。这不仅仅是一家酒店，更是一种非常地道、特别的文化体验。 整个民宿的装修与设计都无可挑剔，审美非常高级，细节精致优雅，处处体现用心。房间非常舒适，配备的用品和设施品质都很高，环境安静温馨，让人一入住就有宾至如归的感觉。 最值得特别称赞的是这里卓越而贴心的服务。工作人员非常热情专业，真正做到了超出期待。他们还帮我们安排了一位性价比非常高的司机，让我们能够非常顺利、轻松地在一天之内游览大同周边三大景点：悬空寺、云冈石窟和应县木塔。整个行程安排得非常顺畅，让我们完全没有压力，玩得特别开心。 总体来说，这里的服务真的令人惊艳。从住宿环境到服务体验，一切都非常完美。强烈推荐给所有来大同旅行、希望体验传统文化与高品质住宿的游客！

一切都是最好的安排，原本網上訂的不是她家的親子房，但是原來古城那邊好多親子房是負一層，大家訂的時候一定要仔細看，然後負一層沒有窗户，我家爸爸對這點是不太能接受的，於是我們到了古城晚上10點多還在尋覓。還好我們算是趕上旺季前的一波，否則如夢這家根本訂不到。選了好多家都不滿意，直到看到如夢，竟然有一件親子房，管家妹妹人非常好，讓我們先看了房間，我一進門就被香香的，涼快的房間吸引了，他們家用的是實木傢俱，現代簡約裝修，智能家電，最貼心的是她們的熱水壺還是一次性內膽，減少現在大家住宿不敢用酒店熱水壺的困擾。真的那那都稱心。必須好評！下次如果再去大同，一定還選她家！ 還有出行也非常方便。

The staff in the hotel were fantastic, going above and beyond. One of the receptionists (Liu) spoke English better than anyone we met in China during our 10 day trip. The hotel looks like a traditional Chinese courtyard - but like all of Datong's old city, it's freshly built to recreate the lost era. Which is also a good thing: the rooms are new and clean. Unfortunately, the shared areas in the hotel were usually filled with cigarette smoke (because the guests would often smoke in those areas, even at the breakfast table). Luckily, the rooms themselves were well ventilated, and we couldn't smell any smoke when we were inside. The breakfast was very basic.

Ive just left the Inn and on the train to the next destination. I wish I could stay longer as this was such a pleasant stay. The boss lady was so nice. I booked just a basic room but got upgraded to almost a studio flat with separate bedroom in the mezzanine and lounge downstairs. Everytime I come back from sightseeing, all hot tired, the boss lady gave me a bowl of delicious melons. It was sweet and juicy. The best melons I have had. The second time she also gave me bananas. It was so much needed. The hotel is in the perfect location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 1. From Datongnan station there are buses 608 or 61 which takes you directly to Huayansi stop, less than 1min from the hotel. However, the hotel frontage is a jewelry shop, I didn't know so ended up walking up/down the street for 10mins before the boss lady realised and came out to tell me I have arrived. 2. If you want to go to Yungang Grottoes. From the same bus stop take bus 38, then change to bus 3 to get to the Grottoes. Journey time about an hour in total. And cost 4RMB (2RMB per bus). However, you have to set up some kind of public travel app from Wechat to get the QR code to pay the bus fare. I didn't know this. Fortunately, some nice people helped pay my fare, then another lovely girl helped set up the app enabling me to use the bus from then as when I arrived and took the bus from the train station to hotel Wechatpay didn't work. Fortunately the driver let me ride for free as I guess he realised Im foreign and don't have this app. Only when I took the bus to Yungang Grottoes, the girl told me I need to set up the travel app etc and helped me set it up. 3. The hotel is also right opposite to the Huayan temple. A beautiful ancient temple. Deffo can't be missed. This boutique hotel is conveniently located in the old City. The hotel staff are very friendly and even fetched us from the train station. Hotel room is spacious and comfortable. I accidentally dropped a ring in the lobby and the staff picked up and returned to me. Very pleasant staff and highly recommended.

Wow, I loved this homestay! The lively and kind lady who runs Yishui homestay is a good English speaker and very patient, so foreigners as well as Chinese will feel at ease staying here. It is a very hospitable atmosphere! Location is in the pedestrianized part of the old city, very near the Drum Tower. Therefore, there is lots to see/do/eat while walking nearby. But the location is also not far from the driving road, so it was an easy, short walk to meet my driver when going out to the hanging temple, the grottos, and the train station. The facility is an old-style courtyard home, with a beautiful wood-beam ceiling. The interior rooms are completely renovated and modernized, with great water pressure, all necessary toiletries, an excellent quality hair dryer, slippers, and super air-con/heating! (It was -3 one night during my stay, but I was warm and comfy in that room!) Clean towels are brought daily. Breakfast was included in my stay and I was very happy with the food. It is an ample Chinese-style breakfast, and you can inform the cook if there is some food you don't/can't eat. Although the breakfast was plenty of food for me, I saw a guest ask for more baozi, and he was kindly given 2 more. Fresh fruit was also offered for free several times during my stay. Within a 5 minute radius (walking), there are many eating places for lunch, dinner, snacks, and tea/coffee. There are also numerous historical sites (dragon wall, temples, ”mansions”, the Catholic Church, etc.) in easy walking distance. In fact, there was so much to see nearby that I was not able to see everything! The homestay looks very charming, and many, many people were often seen stopping to take photos in front of the homestay, as well as on the back wall of the homestay, which is next to a Chinese Opera stage--it is especially lovely at night! It is a 10-15 minute walk to the ancient city wall, where you can climb up and enjoy the sights, or visit a (Chinese) bookstore within the city wall, under one of the arches. My Beijing friends, who stayed at a nearby hotel, were equally impressed when they came to visit me in Yishui homestay, and they got the WeChat contact so that they can return to stay at Yishui homestay on a return trip--so easy to get there by fast train from Beijing!

very friendly and helpful staffs. they will ask for adding friend on Wechat which they could provide very useful tips during your stay in a hotel and travel advice around datong. you can ask for exchange small banknote for hopping on a local bus which is troublesome for foreigner that doesn't have chinese phone number to register for virtual bus card （易通卡）on alipay or wechat unlike in big city eg. Shanghai, Guangzhou that can use passport no. to register. It would be nice if they provide some bathmat to rub wet feet after using the bathroom. The hotel is located near the bell tower which is near Huayan temple and Dai wang mansion.

Great 3 night stay. It's a very short Didi ride from DaTong South Railway station. It's right next to the DaTong Ancient City area. It's a close walk but the entrances for the walled city are all in the middle section of each wall. It's walkable but it's also easy to rent a bike or take a 7 rmb Didi to the main area. I couldn't find any convenience stores close but I was ok without them. You can also have things delivered to the hotel and the robot will bring it to your room. Room was great. Big, clean and comfortable. Pillows were also good. Had a view of the old town which was nice at night. I traveled in April. It was warm in the room because I think only the heat works that time of year. I tried the AC but didn't seem to cool the room. They had two windows you could open. It was around 0C at night so it cools down the room enough to sleep comfortably if you don't like sleeping in a warm room. Shower had strong water pressure. Towels and toiletries good. The shuttle bus stop is very close to the hotel too. You can take shuttles to some of the tourist attractions outside the city. They shuttles are cheap and convenient. Less than 10 minute walk I think or a 2 minute Didi ride. It's the ”DaTong ancient city” stop. The buffet breakfast was good. They had a big variety of western, Chinese and local foods to eat. One day breakfast was on the 3rd floor and the other days it was on the 28th floor when it was busier. They put snacks and fruit everyday. Actually good snacks, I ate all of them everyday. I was also sick with a cough. The worker must have noticed the first day in the hallway. That night when I came back I had a handwritten note and a pear tea to help with my cold. They provided the same the following night. I really appreciated that. Overall was a great stay. I'd definitely stay there again if I go back to DaTong. I'd recommend staying there.

這次到大同旅遊，選擇入住聖雅居民宿，真的是最明智的決定！從預訂到離店，全程體驗無可挑剔。 地理位置： 民宿位置鬧中取靜，去古城牆、華嚴寺、九龍壁等核心景點都非常方便，步行即可到達。周邊生活便利，但又不會過於嘈雜，晚上休息非常安靜。 環境設施： 一進門就被深深吸引！裝修極具特色，完美融合了古典中式美學和現代的舒適感。房間打掃得一塵不染，床品柔軟舒適，躺上去瞬間卸去旅途的疲憊。設施更是滿分，高清投影、品質一流的洗浴用品，細節處處能感受到主人的用心。 服務熱情： 老闆和工作人員的熱情好客讓人有回家的感覺。房間內介紹了遊玩攻略和美食地圖，幫忙預訂門票，省心不少。 特色體驗： 不得不提的是他家附近的早餐！地道的山西特色，乾淨又美味，為一天的遊玩注滿了能量。 總之，聖雅居不僅僅是一個住宿的地方，更是旅途中的一份美好回憶。下次來大同，絕對會再次入住，也會毫不猶豫地推薦給所有朋友！

Extremely happy with my stay here! Room is very spacious and clean, and I was within walking distance to most of the attractions and restaurants. The staff here are very friendly and they always went out of their way to make my experience in Datong memorable! I'm especially grateful because the manager showed me how to order food from local restaurants using my phone and get it delivered straight to my room! 10/10!!
