Apartment Perfect for Families on Vacation

"I was really disappointed, I was expecting a hotel with the option to add breakfast but really it was just an apartment with the bare minimum. We weren't offered the option of breakfast and the restaurant was always closed. When we got to the room, the quality was poor. The kitchen was basically falling apart and we barely had enough utensils to cook with (no kitchen knife for preparing). There was no microwave or oven, just a hob. We were given half a bottle of washing up liquid and one bin liner for each bin so we had to go out shopping to buy more essentials for the room. The balcony was always covered in dried bird poo, I was constantly sweeping to clear it and didn't risk hanging any washing outside in case it got covered. When we arrived there was a dead bird on the balcony (it looked like it had been there for a while) surrounded by lots of bird poo which I had to get rid off myself. WiFi was very poor, didn't work for the first days and when you could get it working, you would lose connection quickly. It was very quiet while we were there, many people were using it as an apartment and went out during the day so we did have the pool to ourselves. The bar at the pool was closed the lifeguard manly chilled behind the bar. He would close the pool around 1ish (by using a rope to block the entrance) but said we could keep using the pool with no lifeguard. The reception was basically closed. When we arrived we had to let them know we were on our way so they could be there but as soon as we checked in they left. Checkout was 10 am so we were ready at reception to check out and no one came even though the Reception was supposed to be open. We received a message telling us to leave the key in the room. One positive about the hotel is the views, it has some beautiful views of Sciacca and is in a very peaceful location. Only a 5/10 min drive from central Sciacca."

"Excellent boutique hotel. We had a room with seaside view and it was amazing - free welcome drink was offered at hotel related restaurent “Vela” which also had a tasting menu which we unfortunately did not have time to explore but would have loved to try - we were so excited we tried to stay an extra night but the hotel was full. Very good value for the price paid - we would live to revisit!"

"Hotel Aliai is excellent, cosy, clean and well located. The top rooms have a nice little terrace with a sea view. The staff is great and friendly, and breakfasts delicious. There are several excellent restaurants nearby. It was a true pleasure to stay there and we will come back."

L'Antro di Dedalo

"We booked the wrong week at another B&B in Sciacca but were recommended to Dedalo and how lucky we were! Although not technically open our charming hosts Mr and Mrs Calogero welcomed us in and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cool, spacious rooms are built into the stone hill. They're big, comfortable and well appointed with lovely bathrooms and showers. We sat on Dedalo's little balcony overlooking the street for drinks in the evening and our very nice self-service breakfast in the morning. There's limited white-line parking and plenty of blue zone parking just up the Corso after the Porta Palermo. Sciacca is a fascinating, completely un-touristy town with plenty of pleasant places to eat. It's a great stopping point after seeing Western Sicily before the drive to Agrigento and points East."
