Situated within 87 acres of a beautiful natural environment by the shores of Georges Bay, this was a perfect place to relax for two nights and just enjoy the tranquility of the nature surrounding us. If you are a little bit into birds (like we are) you are well catered for, with binoculars and bird identification book provided. There is a bird hide down by the water’s edge, to view the numerous Black swans, White-faced herons and other aquatic birds, White-fronted chats breeding in the heath shrubs and Superb Fairy-wrens in the grasses. Then there are honeyeaters, wattle-birds, etc in the trees and shrubs around the grounds, the occasional raptor overhead, and add the soothing background sounds of frogs and cicadas. Just our idea of bliss! We stayed in Sandpiper apartment, which was modern, spacious,very well furnished and the kitchen well equipped for self catering. The owners live on the property and maintain it well, and are delightful to meet and talk to. We wish our stay at Pelican Point could have been longer.

Stayed in room 9. Certainly not an apartment more like a cell. Very small narrow room with no outside window other than the bathroom one with obscure glass and a locked insect screen and the outside door which had a long narrow piece of glass running down the length of it. Had been sold as a motel unit with a kitchen. No photos of this accommodation appears on the website. I bought food to avoid going out as it was Sunday and nothing much open in St Helen’s. ‘Kitchen’ was a very small bench, a small microwave, a small fridge and no sink to wash dishes. Sentences on information card referring to the mentioned stove top etc had been crossed out with vivid. What was mentioned was a $150 charge if any food smells were left behind. Not sure how you could avoid this if eating in the room and not having a sink to clean up. Using the hand basin didn’t appeal and the porcelain was cracked as well. Didn’t feel comfortable that there would be a safe way out if there was fire. Access was via a lockbox. This felt a little odd. Would not recommend or stay again. If considering make sure you specifically avoid units 8 and 9. Actually if I had then what I know now I would avoid St Helen’s altogether. Found the whole experience disappointing and there are much nicer places to stay and visit on the East Coast.

St Helens On The Bay features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in St Helens. There is a private entrance at the apartment for the convenience of those who stay. The apartment has family rooms. Offering sea or river views, each unit comes with a kitchen, a flat-screen TV and DVD player, wardrobe, a washing machine and a private bathroom with bath and a hair dryer. A dishwasher, an oven and microwave are also provided, as well as a kettle. At the apartment complex, all units are equipped with bed linen and towels. Barbecue facilities are available and guests can also relax in the garden. The nearest airport is Launceston Airport, 150 km from the apartment.

The room was nice, I especially liked the balcony looking out to the sea. Disappointed that there was no toaster. The bathroom was very narrow with no where to put anything next to the sink. The hotel is generally very tired but the staff are wonderful and it very clean. We ate at the restaurant. The food was nice but quite expensive and the menu does not reflect the seaside location at all. Overall though it was a lovely place to stay

Lovely clean unit with fabulous river and ocean views. Equipped with everything you could possible need for either a short or long stay. Walking distance to beautiful beaches and scenery. Good choice of food options within walking distance or a bigger selection within a short drive. Lovely quiet rooms, sound of waves breaking in the distance. Relaxing and peaceful.

Bottom line: Stay well clear of this untrustworthy place. We booked via booking.com a ”queen room with sea view” at the Queechy Motel because of the many good reviews. When we arrived, the room we were given (room 25) had only a view of the car park. To see the water you had to come outside and stand in the car park. We raised this to the property manager who said firstly ”That's not the sea”. And then the outright shamelessly absurd ”It doesn’t say that you can see the sea from the room”. When we pressed the matter that we had clearly booked a room with a water view. He became very aggressive and accused us of being abusive. We had simply asked for what we had paid for as advertised. He stated that he had taken people to court ”for this” (for what they were promised and paid for but did not recieve?). He the said that he was calling the police. He did better. He went to his car and drove to the police station returning with four policemen in 2 cars. He told them that we were not welcome to stay. Since they had just been called, we did not want to stay. The police told us that we had to leave even though we have done nothing wrong. We asked for a refund as the owner refused to provide the room as advertised. The owner stated to all that he could not refund because booking.com were the agent. This was lie. When we contacted booking.com they stated that the motel initiates the payment. Following our request for a refund, they stated that the owner had refused. Even though the owner told us to leave their property and denied service. So this motel owner misrepresented the room and called the police, asking for us to be removed because we asked for what we had paid for. He then charged us for the room anyway and refused to refund. 288 dollars taken from us for nothing. But much much worse than the money is the feeling of being lied to and robbed. To anybody reading this we would suggest you stay as far away from this untrustworthy place as possible. We managed to get last minute accomodation at the Panorama St Helens hotel. Staff are helpful and the room is really nice with 180 degree sea views, a jacuzzi and a good price at the end.

Hotel ini berjarak 20 minit pemanduan dari Flaming Bay. Keseluruhan persekitaran hotel ini serupa dengan rumah tamu Samsung domestik, tetapi kemudahan dan kebersihan di dalamnya masih OK. Makcik di meja depan juga sangat bersemangat. Saya masih ingat bahawa sarapan pagi ialah 10 dolar Australia bagi setiap orang, dan anda boleh memilih set makan tengah hari yang berbeza, yang rasanya sedap Satu-satunya perkara buruk tentang hotel ialah kerana lokasinya agak terpencil, vodafone tidak dapat menerima isyarat. Telefon bimbit saya adalah dari operator Optus, jadi daripada 4 orang dalam kumpulan yang sama, hanya telefon bimbit saya yang mempunyai isyarat. WiFi juga tidak berguna. A lovely, modern, waterside park, seems quite new and everything is in first class condition. We have an ensuite facility that is spacious and well appointed. There is an on-site restaurant/bar that is excellent for happy hour taking in the wonderful water views. It surely must be one of the best camp kitchens I have seen, as it has everything you need, fridges, freezers, elec hotplates, BBQ grill plates, microwaves and more. A lovely find for us and we wish we had longer to really enjoy the place better.

Easy check in and out with great service. Unit is spacious and crisp and clean. Location good for exploring the surrounding areas
