"We really enjoyed our stay with a few minor exceptions. Unfortunately the TV in our room didn’t work eventhough it was connected to wifi. The phone in the room didn’t work so we had to use our personal phones. The shower head is a rainfall type, but the water sprayed out in all directions instead of straight down which made it a little tricky to shower. The rooms have a system in which the room key is required to have electricity in the whole room. If you take it off, everything turns off. That means you can’t leave things charging unless you get a second key? We also were told that we could check out later the day off, but that was not an option because the hotel was so booked. Even though there were a few icks, it was overall a nice place to stay. The staff are very friendly and respectful. The bed is comfortable, the sheets smell great, the rooms are very clean, and the building is beautiful! It has a 5ft pool and a small jacuzzi (no bubbles) just warmer water than the pool. Pool water is great temperature. There is also a spa and massage services on the very first floor! Overall a nice place and I’d recommend it!"

"I envy those who have yet to make their first visit to "the Ranch" - you have so many wonderful things to experience! The beautiful grounds, the delicious food, the gorgeous architecture, the sunrise hikes, the wide variety of interesting classes, the relaxing spa treatments, the friendly staff, the interesting guests. But even after many visits, I find something new to love each time. On my last visit, I discovered the hot tub and cold plunge on the roof of the Villas Health Center - it felt like I was the only one who knew about!"

"First off, I've been enjoying this Hacienda for years and years, and have decided it's time to leave a review. You need to be aware it's VERY rustic and far off the beaten path. Don't expect 5-star resort or amenities when in remote parts of Baja. This place is something that is really a treat if you like to take things slow and just relax. Be prepared for the worse, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. The door locks are often broken apart, there's often no water and no hot water, they may give away your reservations to a larger group, they finally do have wifi (Starlink), there's no emergency services nearby, the pool is often dirty or cold if it has water in it, the restaurant is decent when it's open, don't rush over for a cup of coffee in the AM as they staff doesn't get there early to put on a pot, if there's nobody there but you and friends be sure to let them know when you plan to eat so they don't send home the cook. The "suites" have working heat and A/C, but it's in Celsius. Make sure to pack extra blankets or similar if you don't want to risk it not working or the sheets not be new (seems they don't know what bleach is at this location). I could go on and on... but, it's most important you don't expect much. You're not in any city... your WAY out off a dirt road, through a small town of El Hongo. Even El Hongo doesn't have much. There's no "services", no gas, no repair shops, no nada. Just a tiny little store around the corner among the small homes/ranches. BE SURE to pay for your reservations if you make them. I made reservations in March of 2025 for 10 rooms, and was called 4-days prior to the trip to be told I no longer have 10 rooms. That I only have 6 rooms, due to a large group taking over for the weekend. My reservations were for 4-days, and 10 rooms. The large group's stay is only for 3-days, yet... their money won, and I lost 4 of the 10 rooms I reserved. Always have a backup plan when reserving in Baja!!!! They like to give away your room reservations and will use excuses as to why it's "okay" to do so."

"Last week I visited Rancho La Puerta with my 16-year-old son, and it ended up being one of our most special trips together. I’ve been to The Ranch eight times, and my son has joined me for Family Week five times, but this was his first regular Ranch week. It was wonderful to see him experience it in a new way. One of my favorite moments was watching him comfortably connect with other guests, chatting at meals, playing pickleball, and joining conversations with people of all ages. The Ranch has such a natural way of bringing people together across generations. Our days were filled with playing pickleball, heading out on the breakfast hike as the sun rose, and treating ourselves to a couple of spa treatments after active days. We even won a fun competition identifying Mexican food ingredients by smell, feel, and taste! We also decided to put our digital devices away, which made the week feel even more restorative and gave us the chance to really be present with each other. Between the beautiful setting, the warm community, and the rhythm of the days, it was a week of fresh air, great food, and meaningful time together. Seeing my son embrace the experience so fully made this visit to The Ranch one I’ll treasure for a long time."
