"Excellent service. Lots of friendly, helpful staff. Choice of menu options for both breakfast and dinner extensive and a la carte. Evening entertainment was a piano soloist and really lovely. Classic bedroom choice was very comfortable. The classic choice of room decor is slightly worn and facilities outdated but non the less charming."

"We visited for our wedding anniversary and had a lovely evening. The staff were so cheerful and helpful. Our table was near a rowdy crowd who were very noisy. We asked to be moved somewhere quieter, and our wish was granted within minutes. Thank you for your consideration. Our meals were excellent. Beautifully cooked, well presented, and flavoursome. All the different flavours really came through. We had nothing we could fault with our evening there. "

"A lovely welcoming hotel with amazing sea views. Lots of great personal touches made it a home from home. We really enjoyed the continental breakfast option which was generous and filling. All the staff were great and super helpful. Room 4 was immaculate and a great size with a seating area overlooking the harbour. The sound of the waves as you fell asleep and a comfy bed made it a good nights sleep. Would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly."

"Wow! What a find! St Maur is beautifully decorated, immaculate condition throughout with a lovely lounge and bar area. The room was huge and gorgeous with amazing sea views and a little balcony to sit out on too, which is a great touch - with the beautiful gardens in front of you, looking out to sea having a morning coffee you could almost be abroad! The food was delicious and hot. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble to make your stay a great one. So many extra touches that really made it a 4star experience. Thankyou to the whole team at St Maur we will definitely be back and thoroughly recommend!"

"I visited the Chequers with friends for a Sunday carvery. Nice setting and a pleasant atmosphere - apart from a child at a nearby table throwing food onto the floor. Generally, the food was good. Meat excellent- very tender pink beef and good roast potatoes. Good selection of vegetables but everything under seasoned - apart from the pork crackling which was excessively salty. Yorkshire puds were rather dry. The gravy, however, was transparent, gloopy and lacked flavour. Veg and potatoes very similar to a Toby but Toby gravy issuperior. I had the 'small' helping, which meant I was obliged to use a small plate, therefore, cutting the food was awkward as it tended to spill over the edge. Normal dinner plates are not permitted! As the amount of meat depends on the small or larger option, I really can't see that having a normal dinner plate would mean a measurably lower profit for the pub. In all, a good carvery but only slightly better than a Toby."

"We have to echo all the 5 Star reviews on this beautiful place. From booking with David to arrival and our stay it has been superb. The room is on the second floor, yes a few stairs but very much worth it. We stayed in room seven that has a Juliette balcony and views over the subtropical gardens and the sea. we had a super king size bed which was extremely comfortable. A very large room which was bright and spotlessly clean. The breakfast is fantastic beautifully home-cooked and good quality produce. The fruit selection was plentiful, far more than most hotels. The service we received with Alice was fantastic, polite and professional. We would definitely stay here again. Well done to David and all his staff"

"We have just spent a week at Cornerways, firstly the hosts Stu and Lin are friendly and helpful. We had room 12 which had two large windows and we had a lovely sea view. I will miss sitting by that window and having my coffee looking out over the sea! We were delighted to find lots of storage space for clothes - wardrobe drawers etc. the bed was comfy and due to its location was so peaceful! The breakfast baskets are delicious don’t think I’ve ever had bowls of granola that big! You can have your breakfast in your room or use the dining room downstairs. We loved the location and perfect for walking back after dinner! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cornerways and if you can get room 12 you’ll be double lucky!"

"Just returned from a 4 night break at Koala Cottage. Can't fault any aspect of our stay, Shona and Amanda are perfect hosts, friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The room was spacious and comfortable with lovely extra touches ie the decanter of sherry ( loved that). The breakfasts were great, freshly prepared with good quality ingredients. The cottage is well placed for getting to all parts of the island. Fabulous all round."
