Their main business seems to be catering to senior citizen tour groups; several buses come every day. The hotel/guesthouse was probably well-designed initially, with many details considered. The courtyard was clean, and the rooms had electric curtains, toilets, earplugs, etc., and balcony lighting and clotheslines. It just wasn't managed properly! For a guesthouse costing several hundred yuan, they only provided two bottles of mineral water; they couldn't provide more, even if it meant charging. This isn't some particularly resource-scarce area. And another thing! At 2:30 or 4:30 AM, the TV, curtains, and all the lights suddenly turned on, which was very scary.
