Best Western Launceston is a basic, but clean, safe, comfortable well-priced hotel in the centre of Launceston. It's well positioned for the Botanic Gardens and monkey enclosure, right in the centre of the city, and not too far from the river. The room had everything you'd need, or expect, for this price. But what raised the place for me was the service. On a badly delayed flight I didn't arrive until after midnight, but the night manger appeared swiftly, helped me check in, and never once complained about being dragged to the front desk in the middle of the night.

The Bay Apartments are a good value but simple place to stay in Hobart. We stayed here for 1 night this week, in a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was clean but small. It had an overpowering smell of cleaning products when we arrived but this dispersed during our stay. The bathroom is a traditional shower-over-bath, and there is a small living area and flat screen TV. There is a small cooktop and sink, and a bar fridge. The apartments are a short walk to a large range of restaurants, a Woolworths and a Cole. There is also a pub (almost) next door. It is a short drive to Hobart CBD and there are public buses out the front. We were apprehensive at first as it was quite noisy (noise from other guests and from the road), but this didn’t affect our sleep quality. There is parking outside the unit and one reverse cycle aircon unit in the living area. Don’t expect a fancy property- this is a basic but well presented unit at an affordable price point, not a $300/nt property. If you set your expectations correctly this is a very good property. The stairways to the upstairs appartments are very narrow and it is difficult to carry large cases up and down. I’d stay here again if looking for a basic stay in Hobart, but probably not for multiple nights.

The room was pleasant & clean, the heater worked ok, & the bed was very comfortable. One drawback is that the door to the room was a lightweight door so anyone talking in the passage was loud enough to sound as if they were in the room. The view from the room was relaxing, but alas I didn't see any wildlife, that's nature for you. Unfortunately half the rooms were without hot water on the first morning, so it was a cold shower. The evening meal was ok, but not the greatest. Being on a tour we were lucky enough to have a cheese & wine tasting afternoon, which was fun. There are some paths through the grounds at the back. It was pleasant walk, where I did actually see some wildlife, lots of skinks. They run off pretty quickly.

After a little confusion with parking the car due to street it is located on being a bus thoroughfare, valet parking was prompt and we found we didn't need to get car out again. Great location in the centre of town and easy walking to everything Hobart has to offer. Rooms were very clean, although a little small, bathroom was a generous size although water did flood floor when showering. Did have to order another pillow as ones in room were rock hard. Breakfast was very yummy and buffet option that was offered had more than enough to satisfy. Gym was small with just enough equipment to do a workout. The Chocolate Hour was a bit of a letdown, not what we expected, but still another point of difference. All in all, a really nice stay and we'll certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I am very disappointed as I thought I booked a room in Wrest Point but instead it was in adjacent property called Motor Inn. I felt that I have been cheated as the picture in the booking details showed me Wrest point Towel and not Motor Inn. I thought the room was called Motor Inn as I have not been there to know the existence of Motor Inn. When I queried about it, they said it was the agent's (trip.com) fault . To move to the main tower will cost me an extra of $80. I felt I have been conned and they should have placed the Motor Inn building photo instead of the tower of Wrest Point in their website for booking. (It is deceptive marketing - show you a ferrari for sale and got a lemon after you have paid for it) Motor Inn is an old building and does not have lifts to the room we were allocated and being retirees , we have to carry our bags up to 2 flights of stairs. On top of that, the room walls were not sound proof and you can hear every customer slamming their doors and flushing their toilets. I thought we have booked the room with the sea view instead there were only bushes as a window view. It was so embarrassing when I thought I could request for a room on a higher floor in wrest tower for good views but instead shown out of the door to an old adjacent building call Motor Inn. In all its websites and advertising, there is not 1 photo to show Motor Inn as Wrest Point . It has always being the tower used to promote the sale of their rooms. The Bistro food is poor quality and costly. We order from the caviary and the food came out to be cold and dry. We wanted to try the other 2 restaurants Kwan Ho and the one on the 17 th floor in the main tower but were told they were close. I thought being a top notch hotel, their restaurant will be open 7 days instead they are closed 2 days.( sun and mon). - the days we were there sat,sun,mon) They have a fantastic location but sad to say they don't have the marks of a 5 star hotel. If you paid for breakfast it included both continental and hot food with a very wide selection to suit all dietary requirements. The restaurant specialises in Asian meals. The Capitan's Chicken and Potato Curry was a favorite. The rooms were clean and 100% functional as a maintenance feedback form is left in every room. The blackout curtains stopped all the light for those that like to sleep in or get over jet lag. Security was enhanced by room card access to the lifts. It was a 10 minute walk to everything, a 3 minute walk to the Skybus stop and 5 minute walk to the Hop-on-hop-off stop. Good value and recommended.

Very close proximity to all amenities of the cbd, uber eats was able to find us quickly and without hassle, also the establishment is very quiet of a night. The bed was comfortable and there was free Wi-Fi, for $85 a night, so close to everything and presented in this manner, I would happily recommend to anyone I know and will be staying again when we are down again. The only recommendation I have for the owners/managers is the shower cubicle itself is very small and I'm a tall guy and big build too, so moving around to shower was a bit hard but otherwise that's it. The rooms were clean and comfy. Bathroom is small, but its not like its a place where we spent a lot of time so it gets the job done. My two suggestions would be to add a shelf in the bathroom where one could place their stuff and add an overhead light so you could turn on the light when you came in the room. If you're a modest traveler who doesn't need a lot of frills or ton of space but looking for a clean and cozy place to spend the night, you'll like it just fine!

Little bit dated. Booked through Qantas Hotels and somehow was upgraded. ( No requested room available? do not know.) Water shower deluge head is great. Plenty of towels washers etc. The body wash and shampoo bottles are squeeze to actuate, sounds simple doesn't it? Mattress very comfy. Pillow a little firm for me but I did have the choice of 5! You get a kettle and that's it. Fridge opens one way, cupboard door opens opposite way. Not user friendly. Mis mash of cups. No knife or fork. Had to book for a couple of nights the next week but was an extra 50 an night. Thought that was a bit unnecessary for a returning client booking the same room. We had two windy nights and the sliding door widows rattling was enough to keep you awake. Need to be wedged. Location to town. Excellent, walking distance.

I stayed here briefly (plumbing problem at home) so cannot comment on sleep quality. I had room 23, which was tiny (it was advertised as small) and had a double bed. Bed linen was clean and appeared to be good quality. Towels on the bed were folded in a most bizarre way, and they appeared to have been thrown down and crumpled, but were meant to actually look like that (reminded me of a sea creature.) The room was clean, as was the bathroom, with the exception of the entire floor of the shower bay, which was a yellow/tan colour. Maybe it was clean, but if it was, then it was obviously stained and really needs replacing. It was extremely off putting. Walls are thin and I heard the person in the next room showering. The male at Reception was quite dour. I did not have to stay the night as my water problem was rectified so I went home. Good value, but I would not stay here again. The room smelt of cigarette smoke, even though the property is non smoking.

Saya sangat suka hotel ini. Ia dibuka pada tahun 2020 dan mempunyai kemudahan yang sempurna. Lokasinya betul-betul di pusat bandar, Myer mall dan banyak restoran berada di tingkat bawah. The Travellodge is a great place to stay as it close to the airport and a short drive to Sorell. The staff are friendly and the rooms are quite large, clean and tidy. Considering you are close to the airport and the main highway the rooms are lovely and quiet making your stay comfortable.

Car park is ground floor; check-in is 1st floor, but easily accessible via stairs and lifts. Free car parking outside; small charge for undercover parking. Reception was perfect - I arrived early and was offered a room immediately or a short wait for an upgraded room. Rooms are large, warm, comfortable, and stylish. The cafe and restaurant are very busy and Grain restaurant food is delicious. Highly recommended.

It’s is a beautiful hotel! It’s clean and has a lot of comfort items to make you feel at home. Great location, easy to get in and out of the city. Environment was pleasant and welcoming. The staff was the nicest staff I have ever encountered at a hotel. They were always friendly and asked how our stay was going every time walked in the door.

Overall service and experience was good. Old hotel but well-maintained. Only downside to this hotel room is the sound proofing. It’s really bad and we can hear talking and all kinds of sounds from neighbouring rooms every night.

I appreciate a hotel that offers a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave! It always helps being able to cook a little. The view was quite good too, overlooking Launceston, and it was an easy walk into town. Beds weren’t comfy with the springs being closer to the surface than I hoped. And whilst it may be small, the TV only picked up SBS Food. A good channel, but after a big day exploring it’s nice to just zone out which I couldn’t do. Would recommend for a short, overnight stay.

DISGUSTING! We entered the vuilding and immediately a disgusting smell of dirty feed crashed into our noses! We honestly wanted to throw up and at 7pm when we arrived there was already nobody in the reception to talk to or to complain to. My bunkbed had a chewing gum sticked on it (photo attached). At night people were loud till 1am and in the morning at 5am they were back on, behaving as if it was noon time. We complained the morning after to the hostal that did not assume any responsability, saying nobody ever complained. No compensation whatsoever, but how could we prove the disgusting smell of the building?! NEVER AGAIN. ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED.

An iconic piece of Launceston history. A beautiful building containing beautiful furnishings throughout - particularly loved the wood furniture. Great location. A warm welcome from friendly, helpful Jude was the start to a most enjoyable stay. Spacious room with a very comfy bed. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. All good! Highly recommended.

We stayed here as a family of five in a Family Room with private ensuite. We checked in 15 minutes early but the lady was happy to give us the keys to the room. The accommodation is upstairs on top of a pub/pokies. There is no lift so you have to walk up two flights of stairs and carry your luggage. Our room was very spacious with two single beds, and a sofa bed in the main living area. There was a private ensuite separating the queen bed room which was perfect for my parents. The room had basic furniture, a TV, fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. My son loved having a bubble bath as we only have a shower at home. The room was clean and the wide windows around the room made a good view of the outside which my son could look out of. Our room was situated next door to the communal kitchen and opposite to the shared bathroom which was very convenient. The hotel is within walking distance to a shopping plaza, restaurants, a KFC, Hungry Jacks, Coles and Woolworths. The only negative was that our room was situated along a busy main road and at night you could hear all the traffic passing by so we didn’t get a good night’s sleep. Also our booking via booking.com said we would get two free welcome drinks for two guests upon arrival but we didn’t get that. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay at Mowbray Hotel and would consider staying here again.

Pros: The receptionists were friendly and willing to help. The bathroom was spacious. A purple pen was provided in our room so that I could write my postcard,which was good. Cons: I can't believe that the overall Google star rating of this hotel is 4.3/5 which is definitely overrated! I should have read the negative reviews from Tripadvisor before my stay at this hotel! I have no idea how often the housekeepers clean the rooms and change the bed sheets/linens but the carpet in our room DO need a deep clean(to vacuum)! Or at least they should vacuum the carpet more often. I could always feel some fleas/bugs jumping on my feet and legs every night. I tried to ignore them but unfortunately I had flea bites! This made me feel itchy and painful! Please see the photo below. On top of that, the wall light switches were covered with dust. It's funny that the hotel restaurant (Titanium Bar and Bistro) isn't open at lunchtime. What if the hotel guests feel hungry and want to have a proper lunch? The pillows were incredibly high,which wasn't comfy. The fixed showerhead was quite inconvenient - I prefer a hand shower. Dental kits and slippers weren't provided. We had to go to a supermarket to buy them and it took us 10 minutes to get there. Our room faced the car park so we were woken up by the noise (may be a rubbish truck) very early in the morning. I attempted to leave the review on Google but unfortunately it was deleted.

Had a two night stay, extremely obliging reception staff, arriving earlier than anticipated but were able to allow an early check in. Appreciated with the extremely cold weather. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable beds. A great choice of Cafes close by for a coffee & snack. Plenty of places close dinner options. A place to remember for my next trip to Hobart. Will be a return traveler to Mayfair whenever in Hobart.

This motel had been recommended to us by relatives for our first Tasmanian trip. We'd chosen a ground floor Queen room and frankly it was the only real disappointment in our trip. To call the shoebox-sized ground-floor Queen room a Queen room is laughable. It might be big enough for a couple of kids with a backpack but for two adult travellers with suitcases the small room was totally inadequate. It's the smallest motel room we have ever been in anywhere in the world. The bed is supposed to be Queen size but we doubt it and the linen was to small for the frame. At 3am every morning we had to re-make the bed as the sheets and matress topper became totally undone. We will not be staying here again and if you have motre than a backpack do not choose the ground floor rooms. The only plus was it was close to the car park.

Beautifully maintained and appointed BnB Manor. Easily located within walking distance of Sandy Bay shopping district with a great variety of restaurants and cafés, groceries and all resources. The rooms are spacious with a beautiful four poster bed and very comfortable mattress. A clean and equipped ensuite, ensures privacy. A continental breakfast is provided with variety to suit every taste. The breakfast room overlooks the cottage garden and was warm & cosy. A fully stocked kitchen is available if you want to fend for yourself. A relaxing lounge area provides a quiet place to escape or relax, with a complimentary port should you wish to partake. Parking on site makes the transition to your room easy. A wonderful stay, close to everything, and an easy drive to so many of Tasmania’s attractions & tours. Great communication from our host, ensured we wanted for nothing. We felt like the Lord and Lady of the ‘Manor’. Highly recommended.

The rather bland exterior of the hotel hides a pleasant enough interior. Despite being situated on a busy road, our room was totally free of traffic noise. The bathroom looked to have been recently renovated. The room was a little small with built in shelf space, but no cupboards and only floor space to put suitcases on. The bathroom window lock didn't work, but being on the second floor, we didn't feel at risk. Tea, coffee, jug, iron, ironing board, fridge, plenty of power points, air conditioning and comfortable beds were all positives. Security is excellent. You need to swipe your keycard at the main entrance and floor entrance before accessing your room (again with the keycard). The hotel also has a fairly large car park at the rear of the building. Staff were polite and helpful. The hotel is only about a 15-20 walk away from the Salamanca Square/Franklin Wharf area. It also houses a very good and popular restaurant (see Hobart Restaurants, Doctor Syntax). Also, being a hotel, it costs a lot less to stay here than in one of the big-name motels around town. I'd happily stay here again.

The 2 bedroom unit was decorated to match the older style home. We chose the Waterview apartment mainly to sit on the balcony but sadly was too cold. The bedroom we stayed in was very comfortable. With a large bed and table to use. Bit noisy from road. The bathroom small. Step into bath for shower. Kitchen had everything but we didn’t cook. Great to have washing machine/dryer. Lounge area spacious however a very small TV which isn’t the usual, needs to be updated. The iron too? The only heating is a wall heater in lounge room and 1 bedroom and a portable oil heater in 2nd bedroom which we had to move into our bedroom to keep us warm enough. Kitchen was freezing. I wouldn’t like to stay there in the cold months. The larder across the road has closed down but is replaced by BlacFig which is a huge coffee/deli place.

When it comes to writing a manual on how to own and operate a small boutique hotel then the manager Robert Devine and his team at The Rivulet must've written it. We were upgraded to the ''Alonnah Suite'' from a ground floor room for our two night stay in mid December. The quality of the room amenities were outstanding. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom beyond exceptional. Being at the back of the hotel the room was also very quiet with lovely views of Mt Wellington from the free standing claw foot bath. The breakfast was to die for. A smorgasbord of fresh produce all tastefully presented.
