A lovely traditional country house hotel. The public rooms were just what you expected, old world charm, the food excellent but the best asset was the friendly and helpful staff. Unable to comment on bedrooms as we were in an accessible room which wasn’t great, good parking though. Needs attention to basic customer requirements, overall a great few days

Room old and outdated - hotel needs refurbished in older areas - new spirts bar disappointing expensive and not that clean - nenus dirty with fingerprints and sticky - considering brand new they beed higher standards tho mains in Fusion were good but prawn crackers at £5.95 were awful

More like a club 18-30 experience.
The hotel was fantastic, food excellent and staff went way, way beyond. However, the main function of a hotel is to have somewhere to sleep. The hotel had two weddings on the night of my stay and between 12:45 and 14:30 I was unable to sleep for the screaming, laughing, partying that was going on throughout the corridors. I never heard any staff trying to resolve the situation, just plenty of noise.
I had to pay £20 surcharge for my dogs to stay and they were not allowed In the restaurant - which is very reasonable, but have to say that they were better behaved that the other animals who were not required to pay any surcharge or not required to follow any basic behavioural rules.
On checkout, I was not even asked if I had a pleasant stay. I assume the staff did not want confirmation of their mismanagement.
If this is the sort of establishment used but Trip.com, then I can only say first impressions go a long way and I will stick to other hotel brokers in future.

Best Western Walworth Castle Hotel looks like you’re about to stay in a medieval fortress, but the experience is closer to a slightly ******* Premier Inn with turrets.
The castle exterior is genuinely impressive. The inside feels like it was last renovated during the English Civil War. Creaky floors, questionable décor, piggy smell breakfasts and recepcionist smile thicker than the castle walls.
That said, it’s strangely charming in the same way old pubs and abandoned stately homes are charming. Not luxurious, not modern, but definitely memorable.

Good hotel. Decent location. £7 to park in their car park which I didn't know about so unexpected charge. Room was ok, can get a bit cold and heating maxed out at 36 degrees but other than that it's not too bad, good value for the price.

HHaoyun WangThe size of the room is specious with sufficient space for storing luggage, and the floor is very clean and comfortable to walk on with bare feet, so feel free to leave your shoe by the door. As for the bed, it is very large and comfortable, providing you the high quality of sleeping without any problems. In the bathroom, it is not only very elegant and clean, but also provides unlimited hot water with satisfying water pressure from two types of shower heads. Moreover, there is a mini fridge placed in the lower closet near the wardrobe, feel free to drink the two bottles of spring water prepared by the host or store your own drinks or unfinished meals. In addition, there is a small safe above the fridge for depositing your valuables.
In terms of the amenities on the ground floor, there is a high-end restaurant serving traditional English breakfast (e.g. egg benedict) in the morning, and the taste is fine. However, I am not a big fan of their lunch or dinner when you can have better options in nearby restaurants. Furthermore, there is a small bar just outside the restaurant. The Gym, coffee room and reception are at the LG level, and you will receive a 10% discount in the coffee room after check-in.
The location is very close to the city center, train station and several main attractions such as the cathedral and castle.
Overall, I enjoy my two-day stay very much, the price of the hotel is very cost-effective in terms of the four-star standards, providing an unforgettable experience for both tourists and business travelers.

Ccynthia goThe room was spacious and comfy beds. It comes with free breakfast, which is good. Breakfast was alright, the same food every morning. The only thing that lets us down is one of the staff in the restaurant. We sat there for ages waiting to be served. Because he won't be serving us not until 8pm. So we've waited patiently, because we have just arrived that night and was very hungry. This man was serving other people, but not us. So my husband and I were wondering what's going on. So my husband went to the till and queued up. But when it's my husband's turn, he asked, ”Who's next?? Obviously, my husband was in front of him. Then, when my husband asked if we could order now, he looked at him and me and saying ”Oh, just wait to your table, and I will get your order from there. . Maybe because I am the only Asian there. I feel like there's a bit of racism to be honest. We went back to our table and waited to be served again. But he didn't turn up and served the next table beside and served some other customer who came after us. I was so mad and upset. But I don't want cause a scene. So we we just went out and looked for another restaurant outside the hotel. We're so disappointed, and we didn't expect to be treated like that. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. I just forgot his name. But the one at the restaurant is not nice at all. He ruined our family holiday. We won't be coming back anymore there.

GGuest UserAbsolutely wonderful. Id stayed at Durham Royal County before with my girlfriend. However she didn't come with ne this time due to reasons that she had. The staff at the hotel were lovely about it and made me feel better about tge situation and a lovely note and complementary drinks for me to come back to in my room.
All I can say is thankyou and I'll look forward to staying with you again soon.

GGuest UserI have been to Hartlepool many times in the past stayed in different places over the years but the Grand Hotel I liked nice staff spacious rooms location ideal I did come across one rude customer that was not very nice despite the staff doing g everything they could for her so I just had to tell her off fo being so rude definitely will stay again and also o e mention to the curry house in the same building excellent food and again nice staff

GGuest UserWe really enjoyed our stay, the location is ideal and the grounds were beautiful and quiet! The staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional!
The only downside was that our room had only one plug socket that we could use.....just not enough these days, even just for basic needs..... very poor unfortuneatly. Air conditioning would have been welcomed, we would therefore definitely avoid this Hotel in summer months for this reason alone. One other small irritant, our bathroom had a glass shelf above the sink which tilited heavily towards the sink, so we had to be very careful to ensure things didn't keep falling over.
Our breakfasts were excellent (apart from the Omelettes), and the service staff were very welcoming....a great start to any day!

GGuest UserAbsolutely spotless and finished to a high standard. Decor is modern and appealing throughout. Staff are helpful. Lovely restaurant and fantastic coffee served there. The only slight issue I would say, is that you can hear guests in the next room very easily and this isn’t desirable for obvious reasons. We sadly ended up with very noisy guests in the room next to us the first night we stayed and this caused considerable disruption to our sleep pretty much all night. Saying this, we didn’t notify the staff though (so they may have been able to help) as there was no phone in the room. The next night was fine and completely silent so this would be dependent on who you have staying near you.

GGuest UserAmazing hotel, perfect location for shopping at the Metro Centre. Fantastic breakfast with good quality ingredients. Also a steam room and swimming pool. The price was really cheap, considering everything on offer. Highly recommended for a short stay.
