Our second stop on this East Japan trip was Morioka. The hotel is right across from the station, but I didn't dare cross the road because there was no pedestrian sidewalk. So, I took the underground passage instead. Since it was my first time there, I wasn't familiar with the area and had to carry my suitcase up the stairs. Luckily, there weren't too many steps. I actually didn't have high hopes for this hotel, but it turned out to be surprisingly good! The service was excellent, and it's conveniently connected to a Lawson convenience store; you can enter the hotel directly with your room key. I heard the breakfast was good, so I bought one day's worth to try it out. It was 2600 JPY per person, and breakfast started at 6:15 AM. The Japanese really wake up early – there was already a queue before it even opened! The single room was very spacious, and the soundproofing was excellent. The price was also very reasonable. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Morioka.

This onsen hotel is excellent overall. Upon arrival, staff proactively met us in the parking lot, even holding an umbrella to shield us from the rain. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and friendly, and spoke fluent English, which made communication easy. The room itself was a pleasant surprise. The tatami room was spacious, and the adjustable chairs were very comfortable. The balcony offered a beautiful view, and enjoying afternoon tea while looking at the snowy scenery was worth the price alone. The onsen facilities offer a great variety, including three free private baths (貸切風呂), one of which is wheelchair accessible, making it convenient for elderly guests. The outdoor onsen, with its stunning snow views, was particularly beautiful. I definitely need to plan another trip here in the autumn.

We were two people staying 3 nights. We had breakfast and we were very happy with it (6:30-10:00, L.O 9:30). It didn’t change much during the stay, but it had a lot of options and it tasted good. The room was small. If you have suitcase it will be hard to open it up. We didn’t have suitcases, so for us it was no problem. The bed and pillows were comfortable. They have a manga library and coffe machine (15:00-22:00), and space with tables and chairs where you can e.g eat. They have laundry as well (10:00-22:00). It was cheep (washing 400 yen 30 min, dryer 100 yen 10 min). It was a standing washing machine (which I don’t really like) and we had a lot of laundry, so we went to another coin laundry 1 min walk from the hotel, which was good (washing 15 kg 30 min 800 yen, drying 10 min 100 yen). We didn’t use room cleaning, but every day we got a bag of towels on our door knob. It is around 10-15 min walk to the station. But it’s close to shopping streets and Iwaki park. It has a lot of restaurants close by. If you like all-you-can-drink there’s a lot of options close by as well. After check out we left our baggage for a couple of hours. It was no problem. The people at the hotel were very nice and polite. Overall we had a very nice stay at this hotel.

The location is beautiful and the views from the car park assured us we had chosen well. Check in was helpful and all facilities were fully explained at this time, allowing us to book our dining time. The room was comfortable and traditional; the view, amazing! With an afternoon of sunshine, time was taken to enjoy the view in a temperature controlled setting. There was a beautiful tea set and tea provided along with some complementary snacks and water. The toiletries provided were lovely and I shall certainly be looking to purchase these for my home. Dinner was a Chinese style buffet, with an excellent selection of dishes. Barbecues for the table and delicious sashimi and hand prepared sushi. Soups, stews, salad and more! To follow was an assortment of cakes and ice creams. Staff were very helpful and polite and the food was filling and delicious. We then retired to the hotel bar where we were again greeted by a lovely member of staff. Upon return to our room, futons had been prepared and the room made ready for sleep. These were surprisingly comfortable. Breakfast was also delicious with a huge array of dishes to choose from. Check out was simple and staff were helpful and polite. I will definitely be returning! I

The best ski in and ski out and Onsen hotel in Japan so far! We loved the hotel so much in Oct 2025 so we rebooked and came again from Dec 20-24, 2025. 1. Very convenient for ski experience. Ski in and ski out. Ski rental and ski coach school are just besides hotel. Good experience for rentals and coaches hiring. 2. Breakfast and dinner buffets are great and so yummy! The food does change every night to give you diversified variation to choose from. Very delicate food preparations by great chefs so don’t worry you will never get bored. 3. Onsen is also great great great! Great view and women and men get alternate the hot spring pool everyday. 4. First floor relaxing area is great great! You have self service bar of juice / soda / coffee and popsicles. 5. The hotel staffs are so nice and make you feel at home. Motoyo-San is extremely friendly and her English is so fluent!!! We were very lucky to have her help out during our stay. 6. 3rd floor is newly renovated so pls try this beautiful room next time! Highly recommend!!!! Great for family and couple trips!

It's a 7–8 minute walk from Morioka Station, tucked away in an alley. It's quiet, but there are no convenience stores right downstairs, so make sure to stock up on daily essentials at the JR station. As an upscale chain hotel in a ”lesser-known tourist city” like Morioka, the overall stay was decent and met expectations. Here are the pros and cons: 1. Convenient location: Very close to JR Morioka Station, making it super easy to grab cold noodles at Seirukaku (right across from the station!). Having tried them myself, they definitely taste better than Korean cold noodles. I also tried Daidon-en in the station, but it wasn't quite as good. There's an AEON nearby, but it closes early; by the time I went to get some sashimi, it was completely sold out, so I ended up making do with yogurt for dinner. 2. Rooms are on the smaller side: The lack of a luggage rack was a real pain. My suitcase had to go on the floor against the wall, so I had to squat down every time I packed or unpacked, which was hard on the back. The amenity bar by the front desk barely had any toiletries—just tea bags and coffee—so I'd recommend bringing your own travel-sized skincare products. 3. Good service: The front desk team seemed mostly East Asian, and their English was fine. I arrived before check-in time, and the staff were nice enough to hold my preferred room type for me. 4. Bonus: They provided two complimentary bottles of water in the room, which is more generous than many other chain hotels. Verdict: Great location and solid service, but dock a point for the room's storage design. Ideal for travelers passing through for just a one-night stay.

The facilities at Abhi Hotel are excellent, with a microwave, vending machines, an ice maker, and a washing machine – all very convenient. The food and the staff's service attitude are also great, especially the Chinese-speaking intern who was incredibly friendly and kind, helping us with all our questions. Thank you for your help!

A group of four of us booked a cabin on a whim, and I’m so happy we did!! We did a two-day ski trip to Geto Kogen, and I cannot stress enough how convenient these cabins were to the resort itself. We stayed overnight in between two days at the resort. The drive up to the resort was less than 20 minutes. The cabin itself was super cozy, so comfortable, had great amenities for the short time we were there, and the staff were so kind and helpful. Everything was very clean, the heater was already on when we arrived, which was a very thoughtful touch, and we were able to hang all our snow gear to dry thanks to the copious amounts of hangars available. We felt it was a crazy good deal based on the price, location, and availability to book it just a few days in advance. We will definitely be back in the summer to use the grill and go golfing at the country club!

I stayed at this place during my hike through the Michinoku coastal trail. This is a good choice before you attempt Kurosakiso and Kitayamazaki coast. This can be reached easily from Horinai station. Cross the big bridge and walk a bit more, you can see the sign to the left. The hotel has nice indoor and outdoor onsen. Many locals come here to use the onsen. They probably have annual or life membership to use the onsen. It is a nice opportunity to chat with some of them. When I was there, it was raining and hence I could not enjoy the view, however, using onsen after hiking in the rain was quite relaxing. On a clear day, the ocean can be seen from the room window. Dinner can be ordered and is quite good at a reasonable price. The next day, the hotel shuttle dropped me to the train station which was quite nice, I did not have to walk in rain.
