Pros: We were looking for a place on the lower end of the price spectrum that was a one night romantic getaway for two, that I could also use my free trip coins at toward the cost of the room. Preferably including breakfast and a swimming pool with jacuzzi 😉 Not much to ask!
We booked one of the cheaper rooms on the ground floor.
Before check in we took an Uber to San Pedro mall to do some essential shopping and see a movie. Then we checked in and I relaxed in the jacuzzi under the San José night sky while my husband enjoyed a full workout in the gym/weights room. TV with cable was great for my husband who enjoyed the football while I enjoyed the hot shower and relaxed in the bed afterwards. We had an amazingly comfortable sleep and a delicious breakfast in the morning of gallo pinto, fresh tropical fruits, freshly squeezed watermelon juice and hot coffee. A generous check out time of 12pm meant we had more than enough time to get our things together and leave when it suited.
Cons: Not many cons at this price point and value. The guy at the desk was a bit weird when we asked him for a second glass for water as there was only one in the room but not a big deal. We also had to ask him for the TV remote. The towels were a bit small like a mini dress on me after my shower. But good quality (with a third extra towel for the jacuzzi) and high quality bed linen. It also is in a slightly rough looking neighborhood but this is not a problem if you travel to and from the hotel by Uber or use a hire car (which you can park privately inside the property).
Overall impression: The other photos on trip.com and similar booking sites do not do this hotel justice - it looks far better in person. It has real character since it is a restored historic hotel from an era bygone, but that is why everything is such high quality from the bed linen to the floor tiles. Everything is also in good shape and freshly painted. There a little hidden nooks around the hotel that make it very charming. The breakfast area is lovely and the jacuzzi, pool and water slide were a real highlight. We WILL be back.

HHenryWe loved the staff and the location. We tried the restaurant of the hotel and found the food to be great but expensive. We liked our room but missed some basic items like a showercap and the sleepers we are used to finding in hotels like this one. They only provide 2 free bottles of water, so do not expect a couple each day like in other hotels. The internet connection was really disappointing. The bed was comfortable, and the room was ok overall.

TTrudy S.We were given a room on the first floor, which felt like the catacombs. It smelled very moldy. When we let Reception know that we could not accept that, they showed us two other rooms, which were similar (on the same floor). Then we were shown a room on the second floor. It was better. If you turned on the aircon, there was also a moldy smell in that room.
Everything else was okay. Food great. People helpful.
Just need to make sure you get on one of the higher floors

KKJ SEOWI stayed at Delta Hotel by Marriott during my trip to Costa Rica, and it was such a great experience! The hotel is beautiful, modern, and super comfortable. From the moment I arrived, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed.
My room was cozy, and had a really comfortable bed — I slept well. The amenities were excellent too — loved the pool area, gym, and especially the breakfast buffet with plenty of delicious local and international options.
The location was also very convenient, close to shops, restaurants, and just a short drive from the airport. It made exploring the area really easy.

JJeff CaplanIf you're looking to explore San Jose, or have a basecamp for exploring the rest of Costa Rica, this hotel offers a great central location, situated right in the middle of San José. Good for walking to restaurants or shops in the city, or joining one of the several sight-seeing excursions which can be easily arranged by the hotel.
The rooms are nice, though the decor is a bit dated. The common areas are also well designed for lounging while reading a book or getting to know your fellow travelers staying on the same floor.
The breakfast buffet was fairly common for a hotel offering breakfast in Costa Rica, but good, and the area also doubles as a bar at night. Other amenities include a gym with free weights and a couple machines, along with two saunas, one dry and one steam.

NnadgWe were informed after the cancellation deadline that they would not be providing shuttle service. We had to take a taxi for 35,000 CRC and they refused to refund us. The buffet was just average; we expected better given our previous experiences with the chain. The sheets were stained, and we had neither washcloths nor hand towels. For one night, it's acceptable.

MMarcelosabana studios are a a great and econimal way to stay in the capital, the only thing is that its very hard to find its location as when I went they didn't have any signage as to where they are. Please find out exactly the location of the office before you got as I got a bit lost and took me asking someone to direct me. I had no internet at the time so I couldn't call .One of the friendly locals used his mobile to ask about the location and that's how I finally found it. all in all it was a positive experience.
The apartment is located close to a nice park for walking and relaxing.
there are some options for food but you need to check the surrounding area on a mmap before blindingly walking out hoping to find an area where restaurants are.

I had a fantastic stay at Hostel Casa Colón — it exceeded my expectations in every way. The location is incredibly convenient, especially if you’re heading to or from the airport or bus terminals. The staff were welcoming and helpful, offering great local tips. My room was clean, secure, and surprisingly quiet despite being in the city. The common areas are stylish and spacious, with a cozy on-site restaurant that serves excellent breakfast and coffee. It truly felt more like a boutique guesthouse than a typical hostel.
