a last minute short ski trip found me checking out this resort and it suited me just fine. I only had time to ski for 2 days and was pleasantly surprised by the good value for money here. Arriving in the early morning from Ueno on the 0649hr Shinkansen, I hopped onto the 0810hr hotel shuttle, registered myself at the front desk (had my room assigned but check in was at 3pm) and found myself on the slope just shortly after 9am. Hotel guests also have free use of a locker to keep our equipment overnight.
I was contemplating to visit another slope (maybe Gala or Iwappara) the next day but enjoyed myself enough to save the hassle and continue skiing at Naspa Ski Garden on the second day. Ski passes for both days were free for hotel guests (although I only stayed a night). Breakfast was a sumptuous spread of buffet the next morning. Room was large, nice and clean. Onsen was perfect. I checked out after breakfast, left my bags with storage and at the end of the day, use the changing area to pack up before catching the hotel shuttle to Echigo Yuzawa Station. I managed to do some shopping in Ginza and had a great sushi meal there before heading to the hotel.
I will certainly return!
A big thank you to all the staff!
The hotel is atmosphere with a nice blend of the old and new. It is located not too far from Uonuma no Sato and have a complimentary shuttle service to and fro Hatago Isen opposite Echigo Yuzawa Station. The room is big and there is nice heated table area. The bathroom is nice but as with traditional lodgings such as this, it can be pretty cold especially at the bathroom area in winter.
Dinner was served in a bento format at our room. I was a little disappointed that it is a not a proper sit-down meal at the main dining area instead. The bento includes two generously sized onigiri, appetizers, and four main items including a meat patty, grilled fish and braised wagyu.
The onsen bath is also quite nice and loved the bath with the snowy landscaped garden.
Service is generally good and there are snacks and drinks available at the lounge for guests. In the evening, there is also sake and umeshu available for guests.
The hotel itself was nice, but the staff at the ski resort was horrible, the rentals are also not well maintained. The boards are not waxed, which makes it difficult to work with as there are a lot of flat routes which are difficult to avoid (Pony and village road were the flattest slope Ive ever seen in my life, I had to unstrap and walk and the board just wouldn't move). Ski resort staff were unfriendly and the rental staff was the worst, there was a lady there that was cold and rude. The only reason why the rental shop is surviving is probably because the equipments are salomon branded and that there is no other option. I would visit again but only because the routes are fun, Myoko long run was the best, but I would never want to rent from the shop again.
The food was very very good. For breakfast, you could choose from western or Japanese buffet. Western buffet is highly recommended, the omelette was the best ive eaten in my life and there was a diy risotto which was great as well. For dinner, there were 4 options, either buffet, steak, Japanese or shabushabu. All requiring reservations which is tough if you are checking in the evening as some might not be available. Highly recommend the steak, the food was good and the staff were amazing. Japanese was the hardest to get a reservation for but the food was quite underwhelming. The room was clean and ski lockers are also provided but it's tiny and can barely fit 2 boards. But I wish that in the toilet in the common area, you can adjust the tap temperature as the water is freezing cold.
Amenities wise, bottled water are provided daily, also, yukata was provided but you can only wear them to the onsen which was extremely troublesome as I had to change multiple times a day.
The hotel provides shuttle bus services to and fro jyoetsumyoko station which was easy to book. The bus drivers were also friendly and helped out with the luggage.
In summary, for a 5 stars hotel, it didn't live up to expectations, ski resort and rental staffs were unwilling to help and unfriendly. Also, some of the staffs could not speak Japanese which is puzzling for a hotel in Japan. If not for the amazing snow and slopes I would never come back.
Location may be away from Sakihana station but they provide free shuttle if you inform in advance. Service was fabulous. The pretty Lady manager was warm and super friendly. The rest of the staff were efficient too. Their English is limited but we got by with GoogleTranslate. . Food was very delicious with many courses and side dishes. The highlight for us is the hot spring bath. The place was very clean and neat. We really enjoyed our time there. Yes, we have highly recommended our friends to visit the place in future.
Very satisfied with our stay at Angel Grandia Hotel. The ski-in, ski-out access made skiing extremely convenient, and moving from the ski area into the hotel never felt cold. The room was warm and comfortable at night.
The staff and shuttle bus attendants were friendly and helpful, and having a FamilyMart inside the hotel was very convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect family stay with spacious rooms and great snow park for kids!
”We had a wonderful stay at NASPA New Otani. The hotel's location is very convenient, not far from the train station, and the free shuttle bus service is available throughout the day, which made our travels so easy.
We stayed in a Japanese Style Room, and it was incredibly spacious at 50 square meters. It was perfect for our family of three (parents and our 3-year-old child). There was plenty of room for our little one to run around and play comfortably without feeling cramped.
The private snow park at the hotel is fantastic, especially for young children. Our child had so much fun playing in the snow, and it felt very safe and family-friendly. We are truly impressed with the hospitality and the facilities.
We are already planning to come back and stay here again next year! Highly recommended for families.”
GGuest UserThe room was spacious, which was great for staying with kids. There's a small ski resort right behind the hotel, perfect for beginners. If you're heading to Yuzawa Nakazato Ski Resort, it's a bit of a walk. The shuttle bus is quite convenient, running between Yuzawa Station and the hotel, taking about 15 minutes, with a stop at Iwahara Ski Resort. Dining options are limited; the buffet was just okay, but the à la carte options were decent, though reservations are required for both. Lunch options were very sparse. A downside is that there's no free luggage storage. So, if you arrive early or leave late, you'll need to figure out what to do with your bags.

RRiguidengshanmeishimeijingThis is a hotel that has been open for more than a hundred years. It is just opposite Naoetsu Station. It has convenient transportation and good services. There are rice and bread options for breakfast, coffee, tea, and water are self-service. Side dishes include vegetarian salad + freshly made cheese egg rolls + bacon + 2 sausages. The lunch in the restaurant was also very good, and the steak I ordered was also very delicious.
陳陳食食Although the hotel is a bit old, the room is renovated, bright and clean, and the area is large. The hot spring is comfortable. The hotel is next to the ski slopes. It is very convenient to ski in winter. The breakfast and dinner are buffets. I did not patronize, but there is a restaurant nearby. I am not afraid of nothing to eat.
GGuest UserThe room is clean and comfortable, all facilities are complete, many lockers are very convenient, you can ski or stay at home, there are hot springs to soak, comfortable
