Hotel Dengan Spa di Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

I had dinner at the hotel and I did not realize that the waitress made a mistake and charged my credit card in US dollars instead of 33.990 TZ shillings. An hour later, the waitress knocked my door and told me about the mistake and that they would reverse the transaction in the morning. It took the hotel 2 days to sort that out with their bank (NMB Bank). I spent about US$500 on international phone calls with my bank in SA so that they undersand the problem and help me solve it. After a long struggle, I got my money back after 25 days. I am writing this to alert tourists who visit Tz. Please look at the credit card machine to ensure that the correct currency is being charged before pressing the buttons. Scrutinize the receipts that you get and keep them until you get home. Regardless of the nerve-racking experience that I had, I would like to thank the Kibo Palace Hotel administration and staff for their honesy (admitting the error) and for the great efforts they put forth to ensure thae reversal of the reve money as they had no experience with this issue before. Everybody at the hotel was sympathetic and very supportive. Every now and then they contacted me to see if I got the money or not. My advice to the hotel is to train their staff especially waitresses/waiters in using payment machines, and even improving their English to avoid such mistakes and hastles. I wish the accountant tooke me with her to the bank so that I know exactly what is going on so that I give solutions or ask my bank for solutions. if I come back to Moshi, I would definitely stay at the Kibo Palce Hotel and enjoy Mt Kilimanjaro views.

Great people and very helpful , I real enjoyed my stay at this beautiful place. I would highly recommend it to anyone who need to have a cool place to stay. The ambience is amazing, close to the airport. You do not need to worry about transfer to the airport.

I recently stayed at Secret Garden in Moshi, Tanzania, and it was perfect for my Kilimanjaro trek. The staff was helpful and friendly and made me feel right at home. Rooms have a private bathroom and grounds were very clean. The breakfast was robust for a b&b and the coffee was amazing!!!!!! Reliable power and internet so I was able to get work done from my room and prepped for my remaining travels hassle-free.All in all a cozy and budget-friendly spot in Moshi, this B&B is where it's at, no doubt!

We were in our own little bungalow building. The shower and room facilities were good. The small bar area was perfect for a quick drink and dinner. This hotel is a hidden gem, absolutely amazing! We spent only one night, but we couldn't have had a better experience. For starters, we arrived late (10pm) after our Safari and were super hungry but the restaurant was already closed. But the owner Tommy went over the top and heated some lasagnas they had frozen from earlier (which were delicious btw) just so we had something to eat. The whole staff was very friendly! And the accomodations are exceptional! Every single detail is beautifully arranged, the room was very big, the bed was confortable and huge, the shower was amazing. And their property is absolutely stunning. The scenario is beautiful, there are three swimming pools and the decorarion and garden are superb. Not to mention the delicious food we had the other day for lunch. Supposedly there is a stunning view from Mt Kilimanjaro, but the cloudy weather didn't allow us to see it. We wish we have stayed longer and are eager to be back someday.

As part of Soraka’s Tour package, I was required to stayed at Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel. Unfortunately, this hotel had dirty sheets, and a headboard with old and peeling material that constantly flaked onto the bed. Also, upon my arrival there was no hot running water. After more than 18 hours of travel, it was a major inconvenience to not be able to shower after a long day of travel. I tried to reach the owners of Soraka Tours, as I was in need of immediate assistance, but I did not receive an answer until the next morning. This was surprising, as one of the owners actually live in Moshi. Additionally, the hotel did not have internet service, so it was very difficult to communicate with love ones to let them know that I arrived safely. Later, I was told by Soraka Tours that this was one of the better hotels in Tanzania. I have stayed at several Tanzania hotels in the past, and know that this is not true, and that there are plenty of great hotels in Moshi that have hot running water, and do not require their customers to sleep on dirty sheets. Please see the attached pictures. I immediately asked to be moved to a new room, but was not allowed to do so until the next morning, as they claimed not to have any available rooms. Unfortunately, I had a sleepless night as I had to sleep on a chair for the entire night. I learned the next day that the hotel was actually half empty as it was off-season for tourists. This is not the service that I expected from Soraka Tours. There are more experienced and established tour companies that have a proven track record, as it pertains to service and offer much better accommodations to their clients. My advice - Soraka’s commitment and promise to giving clients the best experience was not provided and my overall experience, including the accommodations, was horrible.
