Hotel Dengan breakfast di Southern Region, Iceland

The room was the largest I stayed in during my trip to Iceland, with a classic, old-European charm. The location is quite remote, out in the middle of nowhere. For dining, you can drive about ten minutes to Selfoss. Everything was good, except for the bathroom which wasn't very clean.

We stayed at a hotel right next to Skógafoss, and you can drive directly into the Skógafoss parking lot, which makes access extremely convenient. We had two rooms with views of the mountains and the waterfall, which was truly special. The rooms were a little on the smaller side, but they were very clean and the beds were comfortable. A useful note: the cold water in the room is safe for drinking, while the hot water comes from natural hot springs (which may have a slight sulfur smell, as is common in Iceland). Breakfast had a smaller selection, but the taste and quality were good. I would also recommend trying the hotel restaurant at least once during your stay—the food was quite enjoyable. We were fortunate to catch the northern lights on both nights. On the first night, there was a strong, dancing aurora (around KP 6–7 / G3 storm) right outside the hotel in the parking area. On the second night (around KP 3), I woke up in the middle of the night and was still able to capture it on my phone despite some light pollution from the hotel. One small thing to note is that the main entrance doors close after 11 PM, so we had to use the side entrance when returning late at night.

The good: - Breakfast was very good! - Room and bed was warm. - hot water shower works almost instantly. - Netflix and Amazon Prime available on the TV. Can be improved: - toilet slide door emited loud screeching sound which was annoying. - poor sound isolation between floors, we stayed on the ground floor and we could hear stomping the whole night. We feedback this to the hotel staff but was just given a “I cannot do anything about it” face and a shoulder shrug which clearly indicated they did not have the intention to do anything about it. - phone in the room was not working, staff had to reboot it as they said it’s a common issue. - the air vent in the bathroom stopped moving after sometime, was told to turn it off and on again to make it work again. - we checked in the same time as another couple at the reception, we overheard that they got a complementary room upgrade from the standard room (same as us). We asked if we would be upgraded as well, staff just told us that it depends on the amount we paid for the room. But clearly we booked the same standard room? Overall: Room rate was on the high side and much was expected but the condition of the room and service were under delivered.

We have a 1 night stay at Midgard Camp during our 9 days road trip in Iceland. It is our 2nd stop hotel of our trip. Though the room are not big, but it is comfortable, good and cosy enough for all. The family rooms comes with 1 double bed plus 1 bunk bed enough for all 4 of us. The whole place is very vibrant, friendly staff, nicely decorated and energetic yet peaceful and quiet for individual enjoyment. The whole place is very well maintained and It is very clean even the common toilet as I bathe there to avoid waiting for our private toilet to save some time. The common kitchen is for all guests and is well equipped. We cooked our hot meal as well as breakfast there. We can also enjoy the complementary coffee/tea from the hotel paid breakfast. Overall, We enjoy our stay there even though it is just 1 night. The location is easily found with the GPS, you wouldn't miss it. Highly recommended this place. Also, really appreciate the friendly staff giving us a round tour of the place explaining where are the common toilet, hot bathe tub, dryer for our swim wear should we use the hot bathe tub and sauna. This is indeed exceed our expectation actually. 10/10!

This Hotel provided us with a fantastic stay. It is clean, the staff are very attentive but not overbearing. Our room was very clean, but there were a couple of small drawbacks. There was a small desk, but no wardrobe for clothes. It would have served better to do away with the desk and provide somewhere to unpack our cases and hang clothes. My wife and I lived out of our suitcases for the duration. Also, there didn't seem to be any ground-floor rooms and there was not a lift. So, I think this would be unsuitable for guests in wheelchairs or severe difficulties with stairs (it would be wise to contact the Hotel directly to confirm this if you are in this position). The food was excellent and quite well priced for Iceland ( food and drink in Iceland is NOT cheap ). Overall, we both enjoyed our stay very much and would gladly book again. Hotel, staff and food were all 100%.

My favourite hotel pick during my 7-day trip in Iceland. Location was not perfect but if you are driving from Vik to Reykjavik- spending a night in between at this hotel and get a restful night would be a highlight. Nice, new, styled and clean, with excellent seaview as it is attached to a black sand beach. Not with good connection to the 5G network but WiFi is good. And for the restaurant - you will regret if you are not trying this if you are staying there for a night! Dinner was excellent and impressive! So as the complimentary breakfast. Definitely recommending this to everyone if you are looking for an unforgettable highlight stay in Iceland. I think there should be a high chance for seeing northern lights there if the weather is ok.

Good room and a great location right next to the pier. However, the location of our room was a bit strange, as it was directly beside the public walkway. People kept walking past the window and even sitting outside sometimes, so there was almost no privacy. The room was also quite noisy. You could constantly hear people banging doors when opening and closing them, and the walls were very thin — we could easily hear people talking and even their TV from the neighboring rooms. The funny part was that the fire alarm suddenly went off at 6:50 AM and woke everyone up. To make up for it, the hotel offered us free breakfast, which was a nice gesture, but unfortunately we had to rush out.

Self-check in is very convenient, the instructions are very clear, the location is very good, the room is very comfortable, the kitchen is a bit messy, but this is also what the tenants do, they use it is not clean, but the kitchen utensils are very complete, everything has

Pretty nice and extremely kind reception people. I love them. As usual like other hotels in Iceland, you should take a ride to get here. The hotel room was big enough and there were 3 beds in the room although I'm staying by myself. I love the way how the room is formed. I had two doors, one led me to the yard side and the other one faced the other rooms as well as the reception. IDK this is the general rule but the shower pressure was horrible. It took more than 30 minutes to take a shower. Speaking of the Hot tub, it was pretty small and adorable. But if you have plans to visit either Blue Lagoon or Secret Lagoon, You'd better skip this Hot tub.

Just got back from Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, and my stay at Gerdi Guesthouse was incredibly satisfying! The location is super convenient; it's just a few minutes' drive to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, making it a perfect base for exploring the glacier region. The guesthouse itself is very quiet, ensuring a good night's sleep. While the rooms are simple, they are tidy and clean, with comfortable beds, sufficient heating, and all the basic amenities. What truly stood out was the warm service! The front desk staff were very friendly and communicative, which made us feel very welcome. Overall, Gerdi is an excellent value-for-money option. It perfectly met all our core needs for comfort, convenience, cleanliness, quietness, and warm hospitality. As a functional and comfortable guesthouse, it truly excels. I highly recommend it to anyone self-driving to Jökulsárlón and the Vatnajökull glacier area who is looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay!
