We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, and every detail—from the cleanliness of the room to the thoughtful amenities—made the experience truly comfortable. The location was convenient, and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxing. We were especially touched by the small chocolates and cookies they surprised us with on Valentine’s Day.

Hagi No Yado Tomoe is an amazing Ryokan. The exterior is nice and clean and once you head on inside, you enter a rare and elegant world. The facilities are wonderful and everything is created with exceptional precision. The staff are always patient, polite, extremely kind and respectful. They were also very accomodating towards our child. The room we had was amazing and both the dinner and breakfast were delicious and beautifully presented. The onsen was also clean and relaxing. Highly recommended for your next stay if you visit Hagi.

The hotel itself was so good, unless there were not many things to do around there, the locating was 3 minutes from the shin yamaguchi station.

The hotel’s location is absolutely perfect—just a short walk from Shimonoseki Station, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing, dining, and onward travel. Whether you’re exploring the Kanmon Straits or heading out for a day trip, everything feels effortlessly accessible. The room was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully designed, and very comfortable, especially by Japanese business hotel standards. The bed provided excellent support, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a long day of travel. Despite being near the station, the room was quiet and peaceful. What truly stood out was the service. The staff were consistently polite, efficient, and welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile. Check-in and check-out were smooth and stress-free. Breakfast was another highlight, offering a good variety of Japanese and Western options, perfect for starting the day on a satisfying note. Overall, VIA INN SHIMONOSEKI offers exceptional value, comfort, and convenience. I would highly recommend it to both business and leisure travelers and would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Shimonoseki.

The hotel is located really close to Shimonoseki station. The room is clean. The front desk staffs both night shift and morning shift are friendly. I arrived the hotel around 10PM so there weren’t many restaurants that still open at that hour. I had to walk a bit far for a convenient store. But I really enjoyed spending the night there!

It's a hotel with great design. The staff are super-friendly and helpful. A must try is the hotel's Italian restaurant. Just a thought - it would be wonderful if the dry sauna on the top floor could be converted to a public bath. The hot spring next door is not the best. It is too small, with very limited facilities, and the water is not hot at all. The property should consider associating itself with another onsen in the area.

Unbeatable location with many rooms ( or all rooms) and public spaces facing Tsunoshima Bridge. Our room faced the ocean directly with no obstruction. The bath was also quite decent and the outdoor bath is next to the sea. You can enjoy the sound of the waves while bathing in the hot spa. It should be quite spectacular during sunset. The spa was probably renovated within the last 10 years as it was in good condition. The room , however, felt old and the corridor was damp. The carpet in the room felt damp and the room felt stuffy. The AC worked well and we turned it on high. Our triple room as spacious but I felt itchy the whole night while sleeping- although the sheets looked clean ( I slept on the added bed). The other two beds looked slumped in the middle. Bathroom also looked quite old( from the 70’s)? My room was at the far end wing and there were lots of stairs to walk up and down from the front desk which was on the third floor. The staff will help to bring the luggages to your room ( also at check out - just call). Hotel restaurant serves dinner buffet . If you are not interested, the hotel also has a list of restaurants nearby with 10-30 minutes drive. We drove out to have yakitori in a small down, which was very local, but with friendly owner, good food- and super cheap price ( each yakitori was about ¥120-150 yen. Breakfast buffet has both Japanese and western offers, taste was average. Overall service was very good.

Very close to the Shimonoseki cruise terminal, about a 7-minute walk from Shimonoseki Station, take the elevator over the overpass~ Dormy late-night ramen and sauna pool, with a view of the Kanmon Strait

Though struggling in English translation, staff were very helpful in giving directions to surrounding areas. Upon departing from hotel in the early morning, one of the male staff even checking for us the connecting train, they even prepared the breakfast especially for us to eat before leaving hotel. Very touching and grateful to them. Thank you. Arigato gozaimatsu.
