I booked this hotel to spend 2 days in Ella exploring the surrounding area and sights. Since we were traveling around Sri Lanka in a rented car, this hotel suited our purposes perfectly. We booked a room with breakfast and dinner included. The room was on the 3rd floor, featuring a huge shared balcony-terrace for three rooms with breathtaking views of Ella. The breakfasts and dinners, which were served individually to us on this balcony, were amazingly delicious. If you can't manage to have breakfast at the hotel, they provide lunch boxes with fantastic sandwiches. Overall, the service exceeded our expectations. And the chance to swim in the infinity pool convinced us we had made the right choice.

這次在斯里蘭卡住過最完美的酒店，值得超五星。 我們訂的行政別墅，樓下一個大床，樓上兩個略小床墊。電動窗簾拉開就是幾乎全景玻璃陽台，可以看到外麪茶山。還能看到三孔橋和路過火車。 mini bar裏面給了幾十包茶包，都是免費，四瓶玻璃瓶水也是免費，酒和飲品收費。 游泳池很好看很出片，像無邊泳池。 一定要選帶晚餐的，晚餐是點菜式五道式，非常可口，也很特別，不含飲料。早餐也有一個很特別的脆皮蛋包，通往餐廳的路上能拍到很美的照片。 唯一就是蚊蟲比較多，整個行程唯一的兩個包就是在這裏晚上睡覺時候被咬的

Heaven on earth! Absolutely spoiled every morning with breakfast on their rooftop overlooking the famous Ella Rock. Possibly the best bedroom view I’ve ever seen. We travelled in April which is notoriously muggy and hot, but the electric fans are very powerful and kept us nice and cool in the evenings, they even have a sleep setting on them! Couldn’t have asked for much more. 5 min TukTuk to and from town (500sr or £1.50). Or a peaceful 10 minute walk. 11/10 would recommend

I booked the Double Room with Mountain View for my friend during our stay at Bridge Front Inn Hotel, and just like my previous experience, my friend was also very satisfied with the service and hospitality provided by the hotel. The hotel is located in Ella, very close to the famous Nine Arches Bridge. It is possible to walk from the hotel to the bridge, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch the iconic train passing through. You can even spot the train from the hotel itself. The room had the same great features, including a private dining area and two bean bags, which were perfect for relaxing, resting, or simply enjoying the surrounding views. Overall, my friend was very happy with the stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ella. The experience was well worth the price, especially considering the excellent hospitality and service provided by the team. At the end of our stay, all of us decided to give Yugesh a tip of LKR 6,000 as a token of appreciation for his exceptional service and the extra effort he put into making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable stay, great hospitality, and good value for money in Ella!

We weren't too sure what expect given the lack of reviews when we went in August, and one of them being quite scathing. The staff were definitely aware of this negative review as the points which were raised were ironed out for us: we were always asked if we wanted a drink with our meals, and group activities were cheaper depending on a high number of participants. I think it only fair and they definitely listened. The room and bathroom and every fixture, the grounds and layout, the beautiful lighting, attentive food service, everything was designed and executed to be perfect. The experience is built around a genuine eco resort feel. We stayed 3 nights at Gal Oya, which felt a bit long as there was quite a bit of downtime. In saying that, it allowed us to do both a land safari and a boat safari and we were extremely lucky to see many many elephants, all to ourselves. Anuradha is a great asset to the place, brigning his knowledge, calm and down to earth nature and great energy. He looked after us and took us on some extra bushwalk around the place, maybe sensing that we needed a bit more acitivity. He showed us all the local plants and food, and I would suggest it would be nice if it was used in the cooking. The food was good, not a great variety as someone else said but they're probably trying to find out what works, with so many different travellers from everywhere. The breakfasts were absolutely great, we loved the egg hoppers. I mark the rating down for cleanliness as our room wasn't made at all during the entire stay. It was disappointing to realise that when we came back from a safari in the evening on day 2. The next day I asked if the room could be made, thinking someone forgot and might even get in trouble for it. I was told yes it would be done but again, the room wasn't done at all. Surely, the room should be cleaned on a daily basis, there is even a sign for it on the door. That was the only downside all in all! Highly recommended, and I wish Gal Oya retreat all the best, given it is a very new enterprise.

Keeping in mind this is a 3 star hotel, the positives are the rooms are big with a balcony looking out at amazing views (ours anyway), and the pool is clean and quite big also with amazing views and a concrete elephant water feature!!! The location of the hotel is pretty good too - far enough from other properties to be quiet but close enough to Ella main drag that you can walk in 10-15 minutes or pay a tuk tuk driver double the rate of Colombo to get to and from. The big negative for us was that despite being told upon checking in that the room would be cleaned every day, it was not. And I was told the reason why was that we didn’t hand in our key for it to be done - which seems bizarre after staying in hotels for decades and not being told to or having to hand in a key in order to get a standard daily room clean. The insinuation that it was our fault for not handing in a key (not that we were told to do so on checking in) was extremely irritating. Food was ok but overpriced so we ate elsewhere (lots of options). There were lots of little things in the rooms that could be easily addressed to make them nicer - definitely not having ripped old bath towels, and removing an empty TV bracket from the wall (like a TV used to be there but not anymore - or was it just our room, who knows). All these little things add up to I really think the room rate is too high - but we are here in the high season so maybe that’s just the going rate.

We arrived tired and out of sorts, but we were greeted so warmly that our spirits immediately improved. The hosts gave us tea, chatted in a homely way - you feel like a welcome guest, not a client. The hotel is on top of a mountain, and each room has an exit to a terrace with a stunning view. You wake up in the morning - and in front of you there are only mountains and silence. The room is clean, cozy, everything is thought out to the smallest detail. Breakfast was prepared especially for our preferences: fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, toast, even smoothies! The staff is not formally polite, but truly kind. If you want to not just spend the night, but feel cared for and relax your soul - this is definitely your place. I want to come back again and recommend it to everyone. Many thanks to the hosts for such an atmosphere!

From the moment we checked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their warm hospitality and attentive service. They were always ready to help, which made our stay smooth and enjoyable. The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully designed perfect for families who need extra space and comfort. The beds are cozy, the bathrooms are spotless, and the overall atmosphere feels peaceful and refreshing. The resort grounds are also a highlight. With well maintained gardens, inviting walkways, and relaxing seating areas, it’s a wonderful place to unwind with children. The swimming pool area is clean and family friendly, offering a safe and enjoyable spot for kids to play. Breakfast and dining options were satisfying, with a good selection of items suitable for both adults and younger guests. The resort’s location is convenient as well, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. Overall, Dowa Elegance Resort provides a memorable family stay with great comfort, friendly service, and a relaxing environment. Highly recommended for families seeking a peaceful and enjoyable vacation.

It’s a little high up on a hill, but the view from my balcony was gorgeous. It’s also right off the main street, so if you don’t mind the trek up and down you’re still relatively well-situated to be near the backpackers’ bars and restaurants and shops. Breakfast had a lot of local Sri Lankan options which I greatly appreciated, and staff was also happy to explain each dish to newcomers. A small piece of advice for the team though: perhaps hire a few female staffers? As a woman traveling alone, one of the first things I noticed was the all-male staff—or at least, I didn’t see a single woman working there in my 2-night stay. I don’t have a problem with it, but newer solo female travelers might unintentionally be scared off
