The photos provided by the operators are extremely deceptive. The accomodation is old and run down. The shower tiles were painted at some stage, and it is now peeling off both the floor and the walls. The “updated” vanity basin and tap are poorly sizes and you are unable to fully wash your face due to the shape and size of the basin with a shorter necked faucet . There is no complete enclosure for water in the shower resulting in you flooding the bathroom each time you shower- we ended up using the common showers in the passageway to attempt keep our room dry. The toilet paper is only single ply so bring your own if you decide to stay here !! Our towels and sheets had stains on them and the pillows are flat and lumpy. I wouldn’t swim in the pool unless you’ve had your latest tetanus shots. We were followed back to the accommodation by a slightly hostile homeless person one night which was slightly unnerving for our teenage daughters. The nicest part of this accommodation is the outdoor BBQ area. The breakfast provided smelt ok, but we decided to eat at the cafe at the marina each day as we were heading out to the reef and islands anyways. We decided to stay here and save money as generally we are out during the day and only need a comfortable bed and a clean shower- next time we will be going back to our regular accommodation closer to the Esplanade. This hotel is rated as a 4 star, but honestly, I think that is mainly due to its location. It is perfectly situated on the esplanade and so walkable to everywhere. But in terms of hotel service etc….its’ only so so. Check in was a tedious process….I had to become a member of the travel club in order to have wifi, which I think is a bit much. It’s free, but annoying to have to fill out more forms and give info for a service that is pretty standard at most hotels.. We stayed 5 nights. No housekeeping. I get wanting to be eco friendly….but really, after 3 nights at least, a visit to the room to replenish towels would be appreciated. When I did go down to the desk to get towels they were out and I was told to come back when the laundry service arrived later in the day. So odd. The smell of the room was also a bit wearing. Musty and mildewy. I don’t know if it was just this room, or the whole hotel, but it could use a bit of an update. The wear and tear is showing. The little sitting couch was super uncomfortable….too many bodies have worn that seat down and it feels like you are sinking into a pit. The bed however was good. I had relatively good sleeps if I left the window open to diffuse the moldy smell.
Aaok Moondarra Accommodation Village

Actually Myself and my colleague booked two family cabins for three nights. That is for work and we were the only guests. As per advertised on trip.com we paid for including buffet breakfast. Following day morning when we went for the restaurant we were told they have not been provided our names and we need to pay for breakfast.. So I had to bring my booking print out and show the restaurant staff breakfast was included. Even though they let us eat there they were not convinced and were suspicious I guess. So that day my colleague went to see the manager of the accommodation and he said to me she was not convinced about breakfast was included. My colleague said it was very unpleasant and embarrassing. She told him I need to come down too. But later when I went to see her she said everything is sorted out and problem was they didn't know anything about Trip.com and trip.com send the booking through ******* and wrongly mentioned each of our booking included three adults and the extra payment is for additional adults as they understood. So the third day morning we didn't have issue at the breakfast as our names passed on. But unfortunately last day morning restaurant staff asked us to pay for breakfast because our name was not on the list. Luckily the chef remembered us and he was very politely let us eat. Even though we paid for breakfast we were at mercy of good people. Whole experience was very inconvenient and embarrassing. I think main bungle was done by Trip.com. But management did not bother to completely sort it out. This was my first time with Trip.com and Aaok Moondarra Accommodation Village. My colleague said he did not have issues previously with Trip.com but all those occasions were without breakfast. Other than that accommodation was really good. It had got good Wi-Fi, YouTube and Netflix. My advise is if you book through Trip.com for an accommodation with breakfast make sure with the accommodation that it has been correctly passed on to them.
Jephson Hotel & Apartments

Loc Super convenient location on the corner of Jephson St and Sherwood Rd, with the popular Toowong Village Shopping Centre, a 10 minute walk away. The Toowong railway station can be accessed directly from the shopping centre. There are plenty of buses trundling up and down Sherwood Rd heading in various directions to the city or to the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre further south. The nearest ferry terminal is Regatta, less than a km away, but at the time of writing it is still under repair following last year's floods. Room We found the room to be clean, comfortable and spacious, with a large king bed, two bedside tables, each with a drawer and a lamp, a TV on the wall, and a handy desk for working at. On the balcony, was a small table and two chairs. There were plenty of power points to charge appliances and the downlights were strong enough for easy reading. The stylish touch lamp on the desk and standing lamp in the corner were useful for extra illumination. There was a hanging rail with about eight hangers. There were two sets of two drawers, one underneath the hanging rail and the safe, with one larger set underneath the TV. They were reasonably sized, but being virtually on the floor, they were super inconvenient to access. I can’t understand why the designers didn’t think of this, because it’s extra difficult to get down so low, especially if you’re a bit older, or with knee problems. Also in the room was a safe but that too required bending down. On top of the safe and below the hanging rail was a shelf to store one suitcase. The tea and coffee making facilities were also very difficult to access as they were rammed into a little shelf snuck between the drawers and the desk-top. The room though was quiet, being at the back of the property and therefore not facing directly onto either Jephson Street or Sherwood Rd, both busy roads. One could hear some noise from within the hotel as people walked up and down the corridor, but it was a minor inconvenience and most fellow guests seemed friendly and well behaved. There wasn’t much of a view, and the room just looked out onto the sprawling next door apartment complex, and to the right between the trees we could see Jephson Street, and the traffic going up and down, but the sound didn’t carry into the bedroom if the balcony door was kept closed. Bathroom The bathroom was not an en-suite, being situated in the passageway, between the front door and the bed. That was just as well, as it had a sliding door, which is never great for privacy, although it could be locked. But the bathroom was modern and stylish, and the water pressure in the shower was strong. A transparent glass wall separated the bathroom from the bedroom, which shocked me when I first saw it. I immediately phoned the reception to tell them that we needed another room due to the lack of bathroom privacy. But luckily, as reception pointed out to me, the glass has an inbuilt feature which, at the flick of a switch could turn i

When you go to this hotel, remember its age and be fair with your expectations. Unfortunately, I was encouraged to read other reviews so had a preconception on arrival. Driveway is a bit tight but fair and direct, front desk easy to find and approach, car park still joins the building maybe a little hard to carry luggage through to lift, suggest leave with someone when checking in while you park your car. Lifts quite fast, corridors don't smell, entry clean and tidy to room. Yes, room isn't brand new but an attempt to paint and make clean is visible, couple chips here and there, but whatever, balcony and view is great, we were on the 20th floor, lacking a few creature comforts, but it is a hotel room! bathroom bit dated, but clean, couple wear and tear things, but again think how much you are paying. All in all, a pleasant stay, so go and be open minded, plenty of 5–6-star establishments around if you want top end places.

Whilst our stay in the Hotel X Suite was pleasant, there was nothing memorable about it. The suite was spacious, fitted with modern conveniences (ie. electric blockout curtains, Dyson hairdryer, zip tap and smart tv) and was generally comfortable. Unfortunately, the bathroom lacked privacy as it overlooked the street and directly faced another building across the road so the blinds were always drawn preventing natural light from coming in. Also, there is no separate toilet with lockable door. Although, the toiletries were nice and the shower quite spacious. Service was friendly but lacked a personal touch. Breakfast at Bisou Bisou had a limited menu but the food was overall good. The rooftop bar (Iris) had great views, a good tapas menu and relaxing vibe. The location of the hotel is convenient, within walking distance of the buzzing James Street precinct and a short car ride to the city centre.
JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa

My stay at the JW Marriott Gold Coast during the Christmas holidays was unfortunately marred by several issues. The receptionist’s demeanor was not welcoming, and the hotel’s onboarding process was unclear, necessitating us to ask for more information. The room service was subpar. We found that bathroom essentials were not restocked regularly, and the towel supply was inadequate for our family of three, leading to frequent requests for additional items. We also encountered problems with the billing system. Unrecognized charges appeared on our bill summary, which we had to clarify with the front desk. During our stay, my daughter twisted her leg and was unable to walk. We sought advice from the concierge about renting a child’s wheelchair. While they did check their storeroom for a possible stroller, the options available were unsuitable due to their size and cleanliness. When we asked for help in finding a place to rent a wheelchair, the concierge suggested we search online ourselves. We eventually received assistance from local shop staff, who provided contacts for pharmacies that rent wheelchairs. This lack of support from the hotel was disappointing. The checkout process was fraught with issues as well. The same receptionist processed our checkout and an extra day’s room charge was erroneously added to our bill. When I requested a correction and a final copy of the bill, the receptionist reacted unprofessionally, discarding our room card dismissively. These experiences have led me to reconsider future stays at JW Marriott, a hotel that purports to be a 5-star establishment. I hope this review will shed light on these issues and prompt improvements in the hotel’s service.
