Review: A Beautiful, Design-Led Oasis in Fisherman’s Village We recently stayed at the Hansar Samui, and it is truly a beautiful property with a thoughtful design. The location is perfect—just a short, pleasant stroll away from Fisherman’s Village, making it easy to explore the local area while still feeling like you have a quiet retreat to return to. The Highlights Dining Experience: The breakfast was a standout. I particularly appreciated having eggs made fresh to order; there is nothing worse than pre-cooked, rubbery eggs left under heat lamps, so this was a huge bonus for me. The Vibe: The swimming pool is lovely, and the beach is kept very clean. The hotel maintains a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by a great selection of background music. Service & Little Touches: The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. I loved the ”turn-down” service around 5:00 PM, where housekeeping brought little chocolates and water—an adorable touch that made us feel looked after. Facilities: The gym is clean and well-maintained. Crucially for those working remotely, the Wi-Fi was excellent and reliable enough for me to take Zoom meetings without any issues. Room Design: The rooms are beautifully decorated with stunning balconies and views. The bathroom was a highlight, especially the large rainfall shower. Room Comfort & Maintenance We did have a significant issue with the bed. The mattresses are very soft, which didn't suit us at all as my husband has a bad back. It made sleeping quite difficult. However, the staff were wonderful and tried their best to accommodate us; they helped remove the mattress so we could sleep on the wooden base with just the mattress topper. While not ”luxury” comfort, it was much better for his back than the soft mattress. We also had a few issues with a temperamental toilet flush, but to the hotel's credit, maintenance was very prompt in coming to fix it each time. Dining & Logistics We had dinner at the restaurant one evening, ordering the Massaman curry and Chicken Panang. While the food was edible, it was just ”okay”—we were perhaps expecting a bit more given how high the quality of breakfast was. That said, the view from the restaurant in the evening is spectacular, and they occasionally have lovely entertainment. One small hiccup occurred when we booked a taxi through the hotel to take us to the pier for our trip to Koh Phangan. The driver unfortunately dropped us at the wrong port. We had to quickly catch a Grab to the correct one, but luckily we made it just in time for our ferry. Overall Despite a few minor glitches, this was a wonderful stay. The aesthetic of the hotel is gorgeous, and the professionalism of the staff ensures that any issues are handled quickly. I would definitely recommend Hansar for anyone looking for a stylish and relaxed stay in Samui!

Garrya Tonsay Bay was a beautiful and peaceful oasis on Koh Samui! We stayed for a couple of nights and loved the variety of included activities, from morning yoga and Muay Thai to circuit classes, paddle boarding, and snorkeling—all very well organized. The restaurant was excellent; we enjoyed the ”Taste of Northern Thailand” dinner, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best we’ve had. The staff was amazing, incredibly friendly, and attentive to every detail. Highly recommend this relaxing retreat!

It is a wedding hotel, not a relaxing boutique hotel as it is advertised. I stayed there for 8 nights, and on 5 of those nights there were weddings. They have one small beach and one big beach. Due to tidal conditions, only the small beach is usually usable. We were asked to move after 12:00 PM because of wedding preparations. The big beach is often not usable due to waves and tides, and you need to wait until 2:00 PM for the tide to change. In short, there was ongoing disturbance during the wedding days. Sometimes wedding cocktails take place in the dining area, which means it gets very loud. After complaining about this, the hotel management tried to compensate us with additional discounts. However, after traveling such a long distance, these discounts were meaningless. Make sure to check whether there are any weddings scheduled before making a reservation. The staff are very friendly, rooms are very clean and the food and beverages are reasonably priced.

Good location at chaweng beach, the most lively beach on the island. I got upgraded (later after checking in to one room) for my birthday gift, to a better room near the pool. The lady at reception name mama recommended a good local restaurant to us. Cheap and delicious. Just at the hotel front, the gelato and cake shop, is so nice. The bed was okay but the bird sounds near the room a bit disturbed our sleep. So sad that we didnt get a chance to taste the breakfast, coz we have to leave for morning flight. The hotel is just about 15 min away from the airpot, good for those who planned morning flight

Beautiful looking hotel, quiet and relaxed but also just a short scooter ride away from Fisherman’s village. For everyone confused about the beach situation: there is a long bit of beach by the hotel. The hotel itseld doesn’t have beds on the beach itself, however, the beds are just above and around the pool area that overlooks the beach. If you wanna lay on the beach, in the morning there is high tide so you won’t be having much sand to lay on, still good for a swim. In the afternoon/evening there is low tide so you can put your towel down easily.

The hotel is lovely overall and in a great location. The breakfast and rooms were excellent, and the beach is beautiful for swimming. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend staying here due to our experience with the reception staff at check-in. There was a mix-up with our booking—although the room name matched, the photos and description of the room we had booked via Trip did not reflect the room we were offered. The hotel acknowledged the discrepancy but refused to assist. It appeared that the issue stemmed from incorrect room descriptions and photos listed on Trip. We contacted Trip immediately, but they were unable to reach the hotel. In the end, Trip refunded us the difference (plus compensation), and we paid to “upgrade” the room. However, the hotel staff were completely unhelpful despite acknowledging the error. Their attitude was very disappointing. We asked to speak with a manager, but were told they were off duty and unavailable/didn’t want to talk to us—no alternative or acting manager was offered, which was surprising. For this reason, we wouldn’t stay here again unless customer service improves and the hotel takes more responsibility for issues arising from their listings with booking agents. Trip confirmed that the photos of the room and description have been updated. There are a few additional points worth noting. While the beach is lovely, there is occasionally some oil and significant rubbish (which we understand is not the hotel’s fault although they could make some effort to remove the litter). It would also be great if the pool opened earlier for morning swims and they could provide conditioner in the bathrooms (there are generous amenity trays but no conditioner). One major concern is the use of beanbags on the beach, which appear to leak polystyrene beads without any effort to contain them—this is quite harmful to the environment. Improved table cleaning would also help reduce the number of flies. When we came down for breakfast the tables were laid but also full of crumbs (even if we were the first ones). The hotel has MANY signs stating that reserving sunbeds is not allowed and that unattended towels will be removed after 30 minutes. We respected this policy, but unfortunately many guests ignored it—reserving sunbeds early and leaving belongings there all day, even when not present. No action was taken by staff, which made it difficult for others to find available seating. Either the policy should be enforced or removed, as it currently puts compliant guests at a disadvantage. Overall, while the rooms, breakfast, and location in Lamai are hard to beat, the lack of customer service and poor policy enforcement significantly impacted our stay. If these issues could be addressed it would be a fabulous place to stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and were genuinely impressed by the level of service throughout our visit. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The location is another major highlight is it is right on the beach, making it incredibly convenient for morning swims and sunset strolls. The hotel itself was comfortable and well maintained, providing a relaxing base for our trip. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great service in a beachside location.

Another Amari disappointing stay. first was amari hua hin and 2nd is this hotel. stayed in amari koh samui for 4nights, we just got back from koh samui a few days ago. location wise sure cant deny that, it's by the beach front, 5 mins drive away from central koh samui mall and walking from the night life but so does other resorts around the area. when you get to the hotel specially after paying so much per night and to be classified as a 5 star hotel, you expect a good service, a 5 star service. Specially when the first point of contact to the customer service is the front staffs, however very disappointing. Most, if not all of the staffs doesnt seem to smile at all. We arrived early so we had lunch first and sure they managed to give us earlier check in at almost 2pm, their check in is at 3pm. we let it go perhaps we were just too tired and sensitive as we just arrived in koh samui and it was humid, however, throughout our stay their customer service was absolutely lacking. VERY LACKING. specially a few staffs driving the buggy service, we even had an accident one time when we were on our way back to the room, one of the driver drove so fast, THEY ALL DRIVE REALLY FAST, and he rammed onto one of the on coming buggy, i was holding my baby so tight. luckily nothing happened to us. same buggy driver who was had a grumpy look the entire stay and we saw him throwing luggages on to the buggy instead of handling them with care. so when you are taking a buggy, tell them to drive slow. the room, we booked a connecting room, which was a mistake. booking 2 rooms would have been cheaper but anyhow, the room was not clean at all, the bathtub was moldy the floors felt dirty and there were alot of mosquitos every single day. first day we arrived we killed 10 mosquitos in one room whats up with that. breakfast had good selections, they have 3 pools around the resorts as it is a big resort best one is the one over looking the beach, kid friendly pool. they have kids room, not that big just a small room.. anyway overall would i come back here in Amari Koh Samui, absolutely NOT. Would i recommend amari koh samui, absolutely NOT. if you want to stay in a beach front, there are alot of beach front resorts near amari and around the area check that out.. they did something nice from my baby;s birthday, decorated the mirror and gave cake so i appreciated that. with kids i would recommend hyatt koh samui, they are friendlier to kids and service is top notch. we moved there after amari THANK GOODNESS

The room was beautiful and comfortable. Nice swimming pool, have cayak and sub board for free borrow. No breakfast but have kitchen that you can do by youself.
