The hotel is located in a quiet area close to the city center (it took us 30 minutes to walk with a child from the train station).
There are many different restaurants and cafes nearby, and the transportation links are excellent, with a bus and tram stop literally a 2-minute walk away, as well as the Haymarket railway station. If you plan on traveling outside Edinburgh, this would be convenient for you.
The hotel serves good breakfasts with a convenient serving time from 7:30-10:00, so you can always have breakfast in the morning and go for a walk. The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
We stayed in room 63, which was clean and warm (we stayed in February), and the room was regularly cleaned.
As for the downsides, I can note the size of the room and bathroom. We booked a 25m2 room, but in reality, it did not correspond to the declared size and was very small, feeling no more than 12m2. This fact disappointed me. Therefore, I recommend always clarifying this point.
-
-Also, there was a small amount of mold in the bathroom, which was slightly unpleasant but not critical.
-Hotel Pros:
+Excellent transportation links;
+Cleanliness and warmth in the room;
+Friendly staff;
+Nearby train station;
+Nearby cafes and restaurants;
Hotel Cons:
Room size did not correspond to the declared size;
There was a small amount of mold in the bathroom;
Overall, I recommend this hotel as the price-quality ratio is optimal👍🏻.

The location is good and the room is reasonably sized but the design of the room is not to my liking. The toilet is completely separated from the rest of the washroom which has happened before but the toilet room does not have a hand basin to wash your hands and the two areas are inconveniently located so it could be a problem stumbling at night.
The room was clean when we checked in but our room was cleaned the next day except for the washroom for some reason. Reported to front desk but no explanation really.
Saw a fan in the closet so the hotel may not have A/C whinch happens in hotels in Europe sometimes. Check that if you are coming in the summer.

The most amazing hidden gem.
Great deal for one night b&b even though it was 6 Nations rugby weekend .
The room was extremely comfortable with beautifully scented locally sourced shower gels and shampoo in the immaculately presented bathroom .
As for the staff …despite being extremely busy everyone we came across had a smile and helpful conversation . The receptionist even took us to the gate to guide us to the bus stop having printed off a timetable . Only 10 minutes and £2 into the city centre . £9 for taxi back so with the cost of city centre parking it’s a no brainer to use the free onsite parking .
Breakfast did not disappoint either and was far from ordinary and totally delicious . Sadly there was no time to sample other meals however …I we shall be back ! Very well done .

The location is superb, in the centre of city, about 10-15 mins walk to Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station, nearby attractions like Edinburgh Castle and Royal Mile. If you are Potterhead as I do, Victoria Street is also easily accessible on foot.
The staffs are so nice and helpful, I borrowed their hairdryer and kept my luggage there after checkout.
The bed is comfy, and you can help yourself with ear plugs and eye mask they provided if needed.
They provide large enough (one medium size luggage would be okay) locker with digital lock too.
Overall, I love this place!

had a fantastic stay here! there were 10 of us who all booked out a dorm. was quiet, clean and good quality. there are two bathrooms and two toilets per dorm which i thought was very good. our room wasn’t ready for an extra half an hour so they gave us free drink tokens for the bar! the reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is because it was awfully hot in the room - even with the window open! there didn’t seem to be air con - we wondered even if the hostel had put the heating on? we didn’t try the breakfast. the hotel bar had decent food but long waits.

Stayed overnight at the Leonardo Hotel as we were hosting friends visiting from Pensilvania USA and all I can say is it was outstanding! From check in, special mention to Steve the Concierge (who diligently stored our bags and offered advice) to the welcome complimentary glass of Prosecco all of the staff were tentative and exceptionally friendly! The rooms were clean and comfortable and the restaurant for breakfast outstanding.
All in all fantastic value for money and we would definitely recommend it!

Great location for nearby airport, gyle center and transport links to Edinburgh City.
Check-in was a bit odd with a request to provide my email on a random invoice, No breakfast option offered at a saver rate.
The noise from the air-conditioning and toilet waste bubbling and gargling throughout the night, kept me awake most of the night plus the light blinking a few times throughout. I have a long day of travel so it wasn't ideal to get a good rest. Bed comfy and all you need in a compact room. Friendly staff!

Easy access to city via buses. Sea food restaurants nearby.
Hotels breakfast was good except scrambled egg not to my taste.(Dry) Toilet in the room no toilet brush.

We stayed out of Edinburgh as much cheaper than in Edinburgh on a busy weekend - went to watch Harry Styles at Murrayfield! The first night wasn’t great as our room was noisy as the window wouldn’t close and at breakfast lots of items were not topped up. However, the staff moved us the next day and breakfast was much better stocked the next 2 mornings. The staff were so friendly and helpful - particularly Clare and Kayleigh. It was very easy and cheap to get the train into Edinburgh

PPengguna TetamuThe team was really what made the trip worthwhile. Excellent people working here who really help out when things don’t go as planned. We had some splotches in the room from a poor cleaning and they sent someone to clean the room/provided us with a discount. Overall a great stay and would come back again.
MMichelleStaff very friendly and cant do enough for you, we’d only been in the room about 10 minutes and we got a text asking if everything was okay with the room. It was our anniversary so it was a lovely touch to get a piece of cake and a card in the room. Bed was really comfy and a lovely size room, we had everything we needed. Hotel is in a very good location and the bar / restaurant is definitely worth a visit, food very tasty and very attentive staff. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.
PPengguna TetamuMy recent hotel stay was a bit of a mixed experience. While the hotel was clean and well-equipped, there were several issues that detracted from my overall satisfaction.
Before arriving, I had communicated with the hotel via email and was told that they could be reached via WhatsApp. However, upon arrival, I was unable to get a response from the hotel on WhatsApp. Additionally, there was no reception area, and check-in had to be done over the phone, which required multiple long-distance phone calls and extra fees.
The day before check-in, I received a last-minute email from the hotel requesting a deposit, but they did not provide any information on how to make the payment. Not all of the staff were willing to provide assistance, but the last person I spoke to was patient and helpful, which allowed me to check in smoothly.
One major safety concern was that there was a step outside the bathroom, but the floor was not marked, making it easy to trip and fall. Another hazard was the transparent coffee table in the living room, which caused several stumbling incidents that could have led to injuries.
Overall, while the hotel was clean and well-maintained, the issues with communication, extra fees, and safety hazards detracted from my experience.
PPengguna TetamuSolo visit as visiting the city, Edinburgh always been on my ”bucket” list and this hotel is just a gem! Not a 5 star building but most definitely a 5 star experience. I was met by Anthony who checked me in promptly and efficiently, he was very informative and helped me with a few tourist things. My room was perfectly fine, a little dated but nothing drastic. Breakfast perfectly cooked and everything you could have wanted, loved the porridge. I will be back again!
PPengguna TetamuI am shocked to see the hotel with a 4-star rating on here. Everything about our experience was brilliant. We visited the hotel towards the end of March for a friends wedding. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, the drive in, the main reception building, the function room. A really special place to tie the knot. I think I can speak for most of the wedding party in saying the service was absolutely brilliant. All the staff were so attentive and really went above and beyond in catering to everybody’s needs. A special mention to Sofie and Johanna who were tending the bar. They really outdid themselves, professional and extremely pleasant throughout. I can’t imagine how hard it must be dealing with so many merry party goes but they did it with a smile and really went the extra mile and helped to make it a really great day. But thank you to everyone at the Dalmahoy, it was an amazing day.
CChristinaAmazing overall. Only thing that can better are: noise level within the corridors of the room floor. The room wall is so thin that you could hear all noises. The water pressure of the shower is pathetically low. I was given a room with a view (view to the roof that is, see photo) 😅.
Anyway the whole location and friendly staff made up for what’s missing.
PPengguna TetamuI really enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Carlton, reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very central to everything right in the heart next to the busy bustling city centre.
My room I booked was a King Deluxe very spacious, clean, quiet room my en-suite bathroom was a wet room lots of space, I found no fault with my room.
I ordered the continental breakfast in the morning staff were efficient, and the buffet breakfast offered gave a lot of good quality choices unlimited hot drinks, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, toast, plenty on offer.
I used the express checkout box as I was leaving in the morning there was a long queue as many guests were checking out so that suited me thank you so much to all the staff I had a wonderful experience.
PPengguna TetamuWell located and staff helpful both during our visit and via email leading up to it. Hotel is off the beaten track and was quiet so no outside noise to speak of. Room we were allocated was just about ok size wise, older style furnishings and was ok, very clean though as was the bathroom which again was ok. Breakfast had plenty of choice but server appeared to be under pressure with the amount of people as the times had been shortened to only 2 hours available, 7am to 9am - I assume to accommodate the larger party who were getting theirs at 10am. As a result our breakfast felt rushed , no toast or drink refills. Not a great problem at breakfast but don't really want to be rushing breakfast after a night out in Edinburgh. In summary for the price paid, excellent location and good staff, decor is dated but clean and adequate, would I return ? yes if the prices was more competitive.
