Hotel berhampiran Kincir Sarehole, Birmingham

The location was perfect within walking distance from New Street Station, Sea life centre, Lego Discovery centre, Art gallery and museum. The check-in staff was super nice and friendly, we arrived earlier but they were happy for us to check in as our room was ready. The room was clean.

I recently stayed at your hotel and unfortunately left feeling quite disappointed with several aspects of my stay. Upon arrival, I noticed what appeared to be blood stains on the curtains, hair left on the towel/flannel in the bathroom, and marks on the table surfaces. I have attached photographs for reference, as I feel these are basic housekeeping standards that should have been checked prior to a guest arriving. I also experienced multiple issues with food and service during my stay. I ordered a charcuterie board, however the Parma ham and other cured meats appeared dried out, discoloured and no longer fresh. Unfortunately, after eating it, I also felt unwell afterwards, which was particularly concerning. Later, when ordering dinner, I asked for a croque monsieur but the staff member repeatedly did not understand the order, despite me explaining it was a toasted ham and cheese sandwich. I was eventually advised to order a panini instead. Additionally, I ordered truffle fries but was informed they were unavailable. I agreed to normal fries, however what arrived were heavily seasoned thick-cut chips which were completely different from what I expected and unfortunately not enjoyable. Another issue was the iron provided in the room, which had black residue/staining on it and ended up marking my top, which was very frustrating. As I had booked the stay primarily to relax and enjoy a quiet evening in the room with room service, it was disappointing that the overall experience did not feel comfortable or enjoyable. What disappointed me further was that upon check-out, nobody asked how my stay was or whether everything had been satisfactory, despite the multiple issues experienced throughout my visit. The room was fine overall. However, I’m a little confused about how our backpacks ended up lying flat on the floor of the storage unit, as they were attached to our luggage when we handed everything over to you.

Location is great for mailbox and bullring, local shops nearby. Looks stylish and has a well stocked bar. The shower isn’t designed well so will flood the bathroom unless you switch to overhead shower. Beds are low so if you have mobility issues bear this is mind when booking.

This hotal was lovely we had to do a late check in after 9 clock as we got hear late but the staff service was fantastic very helpful and very polite would definitely stay hear again breakfast was a buffet breakfast help your self the only thing they didt have was fried eggs but they had scrambled egg thy had tea coffee hot chocolate machine and also help your self to apple juice orange juice lots of staff around clear area were people had been ready for other people to sit as have breakfast area was nice clear room was clear and tidy nice shower and toilet room beds comfortable had a family room with a double bed and a sofa bed .

Really unsatisfied with the cleanliness of the room, there was a huge amount of dust anywhere that I was sneezing continuously. Also, the most disgusting thing were the bedsheets, stained with yellow spots! I asked for a new set of bedsheets and the reception gave them to me and I had to put them on, because there was no one of the cleaning team to do it. Very very very unsatisfied.

I stay here once a year as it is not far from the NEC in Birmingham. The location of the hotel is perfect as so close to the motorway but feels like you are in countryside as so quiet and relaxing. It could probably do with a little TLC as the some of the furniture in my room was looking a little tired but still very clean. The staff are lovely and helpful with good service. I have been to this hotel many times over the years and only used the swimming pool once which is the only downside to this place. I would not use again as not the relaxing hotel experience I anticipated as was very busy. Priority appears to be given to the paying public over hotel residents and the changing room was disgusting with used towels piled high on the floor. Staff were stood around having a laugh with their mates and had to interrupt to ask where to get towels then had to ask another member of the public how to open the lockers. I would continue to use this hotel but wouldn’t risk the swimming pool again.

After unable to leave Birmingham, We decided to stop at the Clayton again and give it another night from the bad system issues they were having. This was a lot better granted and the floors are very secure having floor locked to your key cards to get access. Breakfast we were earlier down and it paid off. Breakfast was better this time. Only little issue was the bathroom could do with a bit more attention to detail with little bits of little black mold in the more harder to reach areas and red residue in the grouting in the tiles. Apart from that sure I’d sure recommend it for the pricing

first room we got was dirty and had what i think was burnt bacon on the floor and some stains on the bed, along with a fish type smell so we got swapped, second room was great though, no window in either room but did have air conditioning so can’t complain. The lifts are not very great very unsettling so we opted for the stairs instead, but the stairwell in some areas was riddled with damp and mould so quite a hazard. entrance is in an alleyway which was really uncomfortable to get in, but based right in the centre which is exactly as we wanted. we staff at the reception was great the lady who swapped us was amazing, and another man there on the second day we informed him of a problem with the lift and he was lovely and kind, would recommend for maybe a one night stay or someone where just to sleep, not a hotel you’d want to stay in for a day. note though that it does inform you on the FAQs that there is no room service during your stay unless you request it before 10am, so no fresh towels each day, which wasn’t a problem for us but may be for some others. photos attached are regarding the first room

5 stars. Exceptionally clean room, outstanding staff and an unbeatable location. Everything you need is within walking distance and the surrounding shops and amenities make it the perfect spot. Friendly people throughout and an altogether excellent stay. Highly recommended.
