The hotel has a calm, zen-like atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. Breakfast offers a great variety, and the bed is exceptionally comfortable. It’s also conveniently located within walking distance of the station. We paid an additional 4,500 yen for a private onsen, and it was absolutely worth it. Don’t miss trying the Hida beef—it’s a must. Honestly, I wish we had stayed another night.

Great location!! Next to train station and close to the bus terminal..there are washing machine and microwave in the room. Excellent breakfast but try to come earlier to avoid long queue. Love outdoor onsen!! Staff were helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay here again.

A wonderful experience staying in a studio apartment with the kitchenette. You may visit the near by Boss supermarket or the other opposite supermarket to purchase hida beef and grill them in the apartment instead of eating in the grill shop. Save lots of money. So close to train station and Nohi bus terminal, less than 3 minutes walking. Easy to get around for 1 day trip like Shirakawago, Ropeway, Gero, Hirayu onsen. Staff do not speak fluent English but they do understand English. Coffee, tea are all provided in the front desk. For me, only thing that I dislike is the hard pillow. Overall excellent stay 👍.

Overall great experience. Room was nice, would’ve preferred blackout windows in the room instead of blinds, especially when the sun comes up early. Experienced the onsen at perfect times when it wasn’t too busy. Had all the amenities and the open air bath had nice views.

The quality of the hotel is very high. It's conveniently located near the train station and a 15 minute walk to the old town. The spa is really nice, clean, and spacious. The family spa is a nice touch. Rooms are very large, comfortable beds, with a tub. The only drawback is breakfast. The restaurant is too small to accommodate guests. It's odd that it's common in Japan to have large hotels, with many guests, include breakfast, and then build a tiny restaurant. Makes no sense. Options are limited and food is the same every day. I wouldn't recommend it, but there's so few options nearby or in the town in general, that you basically have to eat there. Just go before 8 AM. Otherwise, the hotel is really nice.

Clean and comfortable hotel situated in a remote location. Check-in was efficient, and the rooms are nicely designed and new. The downside is that there are no convenient stores or restaurants nearby, so you’ll have to rely on their snack bar at the lobby if you’d like anything to eat in the middle of the night. There are also a limited amount of parking spaces on the premises, on a first-come-first-served basis

Hirayu-kan di Hirayu Onsen ♨️ memang sangat baik 👍. Tempah bilik terlebih dahulu agak mencabar, dan harganya sangat berpatutan. Sarapan pagi dan makan malam sangat banyak dan lazat, dan onsen itu sendiri sangat selesa, terutamanya futon - ia sangat lembut dan selesa! Satu lagi perkara hebat ialah pengangkutan; ia sesuai untuk menaiki kereta kabel ke Kamikochi dan Shin-Hotaka. Amat disyorkan! Terima kasih 👍

Our stay at Ryokan Gizan was a truly memorable experience. This is a traditionally built and decorated Japanese ryokan, with tatami floors, sliding doors, and an authentic atmosphere that makes you feel fully immersed in Japanese culture. It’s definitely a “must-visit” if you’re looking to experience traditional Japanese accommodation — even a short stay of 2–3 nights is enough to make it special. The ryokan is quite old, which actually adds to its authentic charm, though it might feel a bit less comfortable for more demanding guests. That said, it’s very well maintained and everything is clean and thoughtfully arranged. The onsen facilities were excellent — one public bath and four private ones that you can use freely. After long days of exploring, it was a real treat. We highly recommend booking with the traditional dinner included. The meals were a highlight: we had Yakiniku the first night and Shabu-shabu the second, both featuring fresh, generous portions of delicious food. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese set — beautifully presented and made with care, though not quite to our personal taste. The location is stunning — surrounded by mountains, rivers, and blossoming trees. It feels peaceful and remote. Just note that amenities like ATMs or grocery stores are limited nearby. However, it’s well connected by bus (just a 3-minute walk from the ryokan), which can take you to Kamikochi or the terminals at Takayama and Hirayu Onsen. Buses run about once an hour, so it’s quite manageable. Overall, a fantastic stay — relaxing, unique, and highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a more traditional and scenic side of Japan.
