Small room but totally functional for a night stay. New hotel in the middle of city, walking distance from malls.
Only downside is lack of on-site parking though there is nearby parking at the mall, which is 5 mins walk away.
Get your parking ticket stamped at hotel to get a discount for overnight parking at the mall.

I recently stayed at The Blossom Kumamoto and would definitely stay here again.
The location is unbeatable. The hotel is literally next to Kumamoto Station, just exit from the Shinkansen gate, turn right, and you’ll see the entrance. It’s also directly connected to AMU Plaza, with easy access to restaurants, shops, buses, taxis, and trains.
The rooms are surprisingly spacious for Japan. We were able to fully open two large suitcases and still had enough space to walk around comfortably.
The hotel also has a very nice and spacious public bath, and guests can enjoy free coffee after using the onsen, which is a great touch.
One thing to note is that there are quite a lot of tour groups staying here, so it can feel a bit crowded at times. The hotel provides a self-service luggage storage area, as they do not store luggage at the front desk.
I didn’t try the breakfast, but overall the stay was excellent.
Highly recommended — 10/10.
I got a great deal here but the risk with these older hotels with central air is that they are too hot, at least for someone used to a cold climate like myself. I was here in April and was told at the front desk there is no cooling, only heating. Fortunately I could open the window but then one is exposed to road noise.
For the amount we paid, it was really a good place to stay and an amazing experience! Top 3 experiences:
1. We stayed in the Kumamon room and it was so adorable! It was Kuamamon themed and had a giant Kuamamon plushie which kept us company during our stay.
2. There was a really nice gentleman working at the car park who went out of his way to help us. For instance, he walked/ ran the few hundred meters to show us the way to the nearest carpark we could park at. I had also left my coffee behind in the lobby after checking in, but he saw it and remembered it was me who was holding onto the coffee, and got the hotel staff to keep it for me. The moment he saw me in the lobby after, he immediately told me my coffee was kept for me. I was very touched because he did not need to do any of that. Sadly, I didn't see him before I left or I would have gotten his name.
3. Free postcards that the hotel staff would mail for you! It was nice receiving it about a few weeks after the trip; brought back some good memories!
Absolutely would recommend staying at Mitsui Garden Kumamoto if you have the chance!
This hotel is really nice and conveniently located right on top of Sakura Machi mall, so there are plenty of food options and shops for shopping.
Right across the street is a pedestrian street, which is great for walking around. It’s not too crowded, so the atmosphere is quite relaxed.
There’s also a major bus stop right downstairs, which makes it super convenient—especially if you don’t have a car. If you’re traveling between cities, this is likely a main stop you’ll pass through.
For those who drive, you can find parking nearby. The hotel may offer parking discounts at certain locations, but I’m not entirely sure which ones.
The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and smells really nice—feels new and well-maintained. Amenities are quite complete as well.
The bed and pillows were just okay, slightly leaning towards the uncomfortable side. However, the bathroom is excellent, with a separate standing shower and a small bathtub. The room I got was also quite cute, with a small sofa area, which was a nice touch.
Hotel Nikko Kumamoto maintains very high standard of service. Greeters were always smiling at the hotel lobby and lift area. We were lucky to get a Room with Castle view. Location was perfect, right opposite Tsuruya Departmental Store and beside Shimotori shopping srreet. Breakfast spread was excellent. Highly recommended!
Akikawa Miyoshi 2 ialah tempat yang sesuai untuk berehat selepas hari yang sibuk dalam perjalanan atau urusan perniagaan.
Tetamu yang tiba dengan kereta boleh meletak kereta di percuma.
The location is within walking distance to shops/food. The size of our room is the largest among similar hotels we have stayed in Japan and very well laid out. We would've absolutely loved it only if there were different pillows available.
Good location just in front of the castle. Night view is great. The 10th floor for breakfast and coffee at night is the best place to relax. Breakfast is the best I have in this trip. We have breakfast at new year eve and new year day , the food is probably arranged and served. The only complaint is the parking not available for my Toyota Harriers. I need to park at private parking cost me > 2000 yen .

EEleonora Del BianchiI have been staying in very special places in Japan: beautiful locations with lots of care and details but this one is my favorite so far!
Yoshi and Myong made me feel super welcomed, comfy and happy in their guesthouse. I arrived with a BIG LUGAGGE which was right away taken up by Yoshi (thank you so much!!!) and when I left he reminded me I could ask for his help if I needed (which I did).
I like to ”judge” a place by the comfiness of their sofas, and Aso Base delivered superb excellency! So many cozy corners, there's not even one futon that is not hyper soft!
The bathrooms have some themes on the wall, one is the cat theme, another one jellyfish and the other is lizards, so I had fun time choosing what theme I would go to. The shower capsules have shampoo conditioner and soap and then an area to dry your hair with a great view!
There's details that are just piece of art! A small corner with a table, cd player and CDs that are awesome- Japanese, international and relax music and audiobooks! I've searched many of them in Spotify and will keep listening. While you are listening there are some images, like a collage, and it's so well thought. Every image has a doll representing it live action as well, like dreams coming true.
The kitchen is reeeeaallly equipped, drinking water at the tap and has lots of seasonings and teapots 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
There's extra blankets and pillows and some of the pillows are animal shaped 😺🐶🐷🐑 so during my four nights there I slept in the company of Mr Snuggles, a grey cat that smiled with his eyes closed - there was pinky pig and hairy sheep too!
in the female dorm every bed has a blue sky wallpaper like in Toy Story!!!! 🥹
I was a bit worried because the comments say there's lots of rules and that they are strict and don't open the door for people in the rain. But the thing is: there are some rules, because they are two people (+ another lady who helps with cleaning) taking care of a big house. It needs some organization and routines.
They provide storage and the area has great options to enjoy while waiting - if necessary. Is a small town, many great restaurants around - the shop right next to the station that sells local products is a must trying repeatedly, the best onsen in the region is 3 minutes away, a Lawson across the street.
I greatly enjoyed my time in Aso and everyday was glad to be going back to Aso Base. It is a place to come with a light and warm heart and soul ( they will certainly retribute), where you can have great conversations, play games or read a book, cozily nested and drinking tea while the fireplace and many lighting create a whole vibe.
I've booked 4 nights and wish they were 8!
Kamsahamnida and Domo Arigato, Myong and Yoshi!!!
JJiangchuanmaijiuPros: Great location, super close to Sakuramachi bus terminal, making transfers really convenient. The front desk staff were also excellent. When I asked about sending my luggage to my next hotel, they took my next hotel reservation, handled everything themselves – contacting the next hotel and even filling out the shipping form for me.
Cons: The facilities are quite old. The water boiler is just a small stainless steel cup that you heat up – it's tiny and seems unsafe, I can't understand why they haven't upgraded it. Breakfast was also mediocre; all the fruit was canned.
เเปรี้ยวไปเรื่อยIt was actually pretty good, not as bad as some of the Google Maps reviews suggest! Our triple room was huge; we could easily open three suitcases and still had a sofa area to relax. The room was clean, even the AC vents in the bathroom were dust-free. All the toiletries were provided. They have a karaoke room, a common lounge for reading, a gym, a ping-pong table, a walking track, and massage chairs. After dinner, I even went to burn off some calories by playing ping-pong. There's an onsen with a public bath and six private onsen rooms, all free and available all night without booking! The front desk staff were polite and friendly, and they communicated well in English. Even though there were three tour buses full of Thai and Korean tourists, it wasn't chaotic at all. For dinner, the all-you-can-eat crab wasn't huge, but it certainly wasn't tiny and meatless. And there was a wide selection of free alcoholic drinks, so it's probably a drinker's paradise!
GGuest UserPros:
1. Great location! It's a convenient 5-10 minute walk from Kumamoto Bus Terminal (easily accessible by bus from Fukuoka Airport), right in the commercial district. No worries about coming back late after shopping.
2. The hotel is very new and spotlessly clean. There wasn't a single dirty spot or any unpleasant odors. The hygiene was exceptional.
3. On the first floor, there's a self-service station for amenities and maps. On the middle floors, you'll find pajamas and a microwave.
4. The staff were fantastic! One gentleman spoke Chinese and proactively offered help in Chinese, and all the other staff members were incredibly nice.
Cons:
1. This is truly hard to explain, but I didn't sleep a wink for both nights of my stay. The hotel allows windows to be opened, so the temperature was good, but it got stuffy and hot in the middle of the night. The duvet was incredibly non-breathable, feeling like it was made of a poor quality material. My arms even broke out in a rash, possibly an allergic reaction. The pillow was also uncomfortable.
2. The room type I was given overlooked a construction site, and it was incredibly noisy.
Overall, it was a very strange stay. The hotel is new, and the staff are great, yet I somehow couldn't sleep for two nights. I'm still feeling groggy and can't pinpoint why it didn't work for me. However, I still highly recommend the hotel.
GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located near the city center, with shopping right downstairs. The triple room we stayed in was a decent size, but the bathroom drain had a really unpleasant, garlicky smell that I absolutely disliked. The public bath was a bit chaotic and not a hot spring; it had a strong bleach odor. You get what you pay for, I guess. The hotel's partner parking next door had a height limit, and the other partner lots were too far and not much cheaper. The next day, I just parked in the non-partner lot across the street, which was only about 200 yen more for the night.
GGuest UserI stayed here with my parents. We had separate rooms and booked this room for them. It was new, well-equipped, and wonderful. It was a very cold day, but the heating in the room and the semi-open-air bath in the room were warm, so it seemed comfortable for my elderly parents. The staff were also very courteous. Although I didn't book this room, the room type we stayed in was cold, as the heating in the semi-open-air bath and the room didn't work very well. If you're staying during the cold season, I think it's better to choose a D-type room or higher. I would like to visit again during the better seasons.
YYumaoshenshuangchiThis is a large ryokan located around Kurokawa Onsen, with a main building and an annex. This time, we booked a room in the annex, which was very spacious and even had a loft. There were two private onsen baths right in the room, and another one just outside the room. The experience was absolutely incredible.
AAnonymous UserExcellent stay at one station! First time and with it's perfect location it makes travelling around so convenient. Beside it it's Kumamoto Station and there is AMU Shopping mall just beside it. If you rented a car during your stay in Kumamoto, you may just park at the multi story carpark behind the hotel for just 1000 yen for 24hrs with multiple entries but you would have to head to hotel reception to get the coupon for it. Definitely a recommended stay in Kumamoto
GGuest UserIn the quiet mountainous area of Azu, the superior traditional hot spring hotel, it is impossible to expect direct rail or public transportation! Only suitable for self-driving travelers, go to the nearest convenience store and drive 4 minutes.
The service is too good to ask for more, very kind, the waiter can communicate in simple English. Breakfast and dinner are delicious, eat in a separate room. Originally there were cows and sashimi, but because we didn't eat it, the check-in explained that the waiter worked hard to help us communicate with the chef to change to duck and sashimi.
The room is very large, the TV is a large-size Sony new smart TV in recent years, Wifi is stable, you can stay in the room to soak in the hot springs, lie on the sofa to play waste and watch YouTube, not afraid of doing nothing at night.
The whole hotel only has 7 rooms, so there are not many guests. The room has been soaked in separate baths, and you can use a large bath (indoor and outdoor) at night to appoint 5 separate soup houses, soaking is very cool!
Next time if you have the opportunity to pass Asu to do the midway station, you will definitely come again!
Lluv travelingI recently stayed at THE BLOSSOM Kumamoto and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in Japan.
The location is unbeatable — it’s directly connected to JR Kumamoto Station and sits above a shopping mall, which made everything incredibly convenient, from transport to dining and shopping.
The hotel itself feels very modern and well-designed. The lobby and common areas are spacious and stylish, and the rooms are surprisingly roomy by Japanese standards. Everything was spotless, and the layout (especially the separate shower and toilet areas) made the stay very comfortable.
One of the highlights was definitely the public bath (onsen). It’s clean, relaxing, and perfect after a long day of exploring. The hotel also offers great facilities overall, and you can tell everything is still quite new and well maintained.
The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout the stay. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the service really added to the overall experience.
Overall, THE BLOSSOM Kumamoto is a perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and modern design. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kumamoto.
