🏨 West Lake / Hubin Hotels

If it’s your first time in Hangzhou and you’re planning to visit spots like 📍West Lake, Broken Bridge, Su Causeway and Flower Harbor Park, I’d personally recommend staying near West Lake. You can head out for a morning stroll, explore the nearby sights, then come back and enjoy the lake views in the evening without spending too much time commuting 🚶‍♀️🌊

Here are 3 unique hotels near West Lake that you can check out 👇

🌿 Hangzhou Jinxi Hotel

If you prefer somewhere quieter with beautiful scenery, but still want to stay close to the main West Lake attractions, Hangzhou Jinxi Hotel is worth a look.

The hotel is located right inside the West Lake Scenic Area, with Quyuan Fenghe (Lotus in the Breeze at Crooked Courtyard) just outside. You can also walk to Yue Fei Temple and Su Causeway in just a few minutes, so the location is really convenient! I also like that the hotel itself has a lovely setting, so you don’t always have to head far out just to enjoy some nice scenery or take photos 📸

What’s a little different here is that there’s also a games room and library. So after a long day of sightseeing, you can simply stay in, relax and take it slow.

  • 💰 Price: From RM530
  • ✨ Best for: First-time visitors, nature lovers, and travellers who want to stay within the West Lake Scenic Area
  • 💡 Why I’d recommend it: The location and scenery are the main highlights. You can basically step out of the hotel and start exploring West Lake, which is great if you prefer a more relaxed itinerary.

🌸 Hangzhou Hua Jia Shan Resort

  • ✨ Best for: Couples, travellers looking for a more upscale stay, and those who value beautiful views and a good hotel experience

🏨 Wulin Square Hotels

If you’re coming to Hangzhou not just to see West Lake, but also want to shop, eat good food and explore the city at night, the Wulin Square area is a pretty convenient place to stay 🛍️✨ It’s close to shopping malls, the subway and plenty of popular spots, so you can spend the day sightseeing and still have lots to do when you get back to the hotel at night. If you like staying somewhere with easy transport, a lively atmosphere and plenty of things to eat and shop around, here are a few hotels you can check out 👇

💡 Tips for Booking Hotels in Hangzhou

💡 Hotel Booking Tips📝 My Recommendations

📍 Check the hotel location first

If it’s your first time in Hangzhou, you can prioritise areas like West Lake and Hubin. If you’re more into shopping and food, Wulin Square is also a pretty convenient choice.

🚇 Stay near a subway station

Hangzhou’s attractions are quite spread out, so staying near a subway station can make getting around much easier. Trust me, you’ll appreciate this when you’re dragging your luggage around.

🌊 Want to enjoy West Lake scenery?

Hotels around West Lake or Hubin are a good choice, but they tend to cost more. If you’re on a tighter budget, look slightly further out and stay somewhere still within easy reach of the lake.

🚄 Taking the high-speed rail?

If you’re planning day trips to places like Shanghai, Shaoxing or Wuzhen, consider staying near Hangzhou Railway Station or another station that fits your train itinerary.

🛍️ Love shopping and food?

Areas around Wulin Square, Hubin Intime in77 and Qianjiang New Town have plenty of shopping malls, restaurants and convenience stores nearby.

🌿 Looking for somewhere quieter?

The Xixi Wetland area is a nice option if you prefer a more laid-back environment. It works especially well for couples, slow travellers and anyone who doesn’t want to stay right in the busy city centre.

💰 Travelling on a budget?

You don’t have to stay right beside West Lake. Hotels a few hundred metres from a subway station can often be more affordable while still being convenient for sightseeing.

🍳 Compare hotel packages

If two room rates are quite similar, check what’s included. Breakfast, a travel photoshoot or airport pickup can sometimes make a slightly more expensive package better value overall.

📅 Book your hotel early

Travelling during weekends, public holidays or peak season? It’s better to start looking early, as room availability and prices in popular areas can change quite quickly.

📱 Remember to buy an eSIM!

When you’re travelling around Hangzhou, having mobile data is honestly a must! 📶 Whether you’re checking maps, booking a ride, looking up your hotel reservation or finding somewhere to eat nearby, having a stable connection makes everything so much easier. Before you fly, you can grab a China eSIM on Trip.com and get it ready in advance. That way, once you land in Hangzhou, you can get connected straight away instead of scrambling to find Wi-Fi at the airport 😂📱

What to Prepare for a Trip to China?

  • Visa & Entry Tips Malaysians transiting through China to a third country can usually apply for a 24-hour or 240-hour visa-free transit; in addition, a 30-day visa-free period has been implemented between China and Malaysia. Learn more about China Arrival Card to land in China easily.
  • Getting Connected VPNs are vital for accessing Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc in China. Set one up before arriving. China eSIMs are the easiest option for data and bypassing restrictions.
  • Money Exchange & Tax Refunds Exchange money in China banks (better rates than airports). ATMs accept foreign cards, but notify your bank first. For tax refunds, spend over ¥500 at stores with a "Tax-Free" sign. Keep receipts and get forms stamped at customs before departure.
