Choosing the right area can make your trip so much easier! 😊 Shenzhen has quite a few popular areas to stay, but Futian, Luohu, Nanshan, and Bao’an are the ones I’d look at first.

If you want easy access to the city center, shopping malls, and the metro, Futian is a convenient choice. For local food, old streets, and easy access to Hong Kong, I’d go for Luohu. If you’re planning to visit places like Shenzhen Bay, Window of the World, or Happy Valley, staying in Nanshan can save you quite a bit of travelling time. And if you have an early flight or prefer somewhere a little quieter, Bao’an is worth checking out too ✈️

I’ve put together some hotel options in these popular areas below, so you can have a look and pick one that fits your itinerary and budget without having to spend ages comparing everything yourself!

🏨 Shenzhen Hotel Recommendations: Futian Area

If it’s your first time in Shenzhen, I personally think Futian is a really convenient area to stay, especially if you love shopping and good food but don’t want to spend too much time commuting every day. There are plenty of metro stations around, so getting to different parts of the city is pretty easy. You’ll also find popular spots like Huaqiangbei, Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, and One Avenue nearby. Here are a few hotels you can check out 👇

1. Vello Hotel (Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center Fuxing Subway Station Branch)

💰 Price reference: From RM230 / night

If you’re looking for a budget friendly hotel in Futian that’s close to the metro, Vello Hotel is worth checking out. Starting from around RM230 per night, I think it’s a pretty decent option for travelers who want to keep their accommodation budget under control 👍

The biggest plus for me is the location. It’s only about a 3 minute walk from Fuxing Metro Station, which makes getting around much easier, especially if you’re planning to visit several places in Shenzhen in one day. There are also plenty of restaurants, local eateries, and snack streets around the hotel, so finding something to eat at night is not a problem at all!

Another bonus is that Huaqiangbei is only about 1 km away. If you’re planning to check out Shenzhen’s famous electronics and shopping area, you can easily make your way there without spending too much time on transport.

Overall, I’d say this hotel is a good fit for ✅budget travelers, ✅first time visitors to Shenzhen, and ✅anyone who prefers staying close to a metro station. If you’re the type who would rather spend more of your budget on food and shopping than on the hotel, this one is definitely worth a look.

2. Atour Hotel Shenzhen Futian Huaqiangnorth Pedestrian Street

Its location is really convenient, with Huaqiangbei Pedestrian Street only about 510 metres away. One Avenue is also only about 630 meters away, so it’s convenient if you want to do some shopping, grab a meal, or simply take a walk around the area at night 🛍️ Another nice bonus is the hotel's complimentary afternoon tea. If you happen to come back to the hotel for a break in the afternoon, you can grab something to eat before heading out again.

🏨 Shenzhen Hotel Recommendations: Luohu Area

If your Shenzhen itinerary includes Dongmen Pedestrian Street, Luohu Port, or Hong Kong, staying in Luohu Area can make things much more convenient! There are plenty of hotel options here, prices are relatively affordable, and you’ll find lots of places to eat and shop nearby. Especially if it’s your first time in Shenzhen, I’d recommend choosing a hotel close to a metro station and shopping area, so you won’t have to spend too much time travelling around every day!

1. Yutai Hotel Apartment (Dongmen Pedestrian Street Luohu Port Branch)

If you prefer a hotel with spacious rooms, a comfortable stay, and nice city views, Yutai Hotel Apartment is one to consider, with prices starting from around RM224 per night. If shopping is on your Shenzhen itinerary, The MixC Shenzhen is about 680 meters away too 🛍️ The hotel is also located on higher floors, so some rooms come with nice city views. Personally, I think it’s a pretty practical choice if you want somewhere that’s affordable, well located, and comfortable.

I’d recommend it for ✅couples, ✅friends travelling independently, ✅small families, especially if you want to stay around Dongmen and have plenty of food, shopping, and entertainment options within walking distance.

2. CYBO Station SSAW Shangpin Hotel Luohu Shenzhen

💰 Price reference: From RM228 / night

The biggest advantage of Shangpin Hotel is definitely its convenient location! The hotel is less than 100 meters from Hubei Metro Station, so you can pretty much walk out of the hotel and hop on the metro 🚇 This is especially useful if you’re planning to visit several attractions around Shenzhen in one day and want to save some travelling time.

The hotel is also close to Dongmen Old Street and a nearby food court, with plenty of restaurants around the area. So even if you come back to the hotel late after a full day of exploring, you’ll still have lots of choices when it comes to dinner 🍜

If you’re in the mood for some shopping, The MixC Shenzhen is about 1.4 km away. It’s easy enough to add a shopping stop to your itinerary without travelling too far.

With prices starting from around RM228 per night, I think this hotel is suitable for ✅first-time visitors to Shenzhen, ✅couples, ✅friends travelling on a free-and-easy trip, and ✅business travellers. Another bonus if you’re driving or renting an electric car in Shenzhen is that the hotel has EV charging spots, which can be quite convenient during your stay.

If your Shenzhen trip also includes Hong Kong, or you’re planning to travel via Luohu Port and Shenzhen Railway Station, this HK Palace Hotel is worth considering. You also won’t have to drag your luggage too far, which is always a bonus when travelling 😂

If you’re in the mood for some shopping, Kingglory Plaza is about 690 metres away, while The MixC Shenzhen is around 1.2 km away. So whether you’re looking for food, shopping, or convenient transport, you’ll have plenty of options around the hotel.

Starting from around RM233 per night, the hotel also has a spa, which I think is a nice bonus after a full day of walking around Shenzhen 😌 If your feet are already tired from sightseeing, you can head back to the hotel and have a relaxing spa session before calling it a night. I’d recommend this hotel for ✅travelers with a Hong Kong itinerary, ✅couples, ✅friends travelling together, and ✅anyone who likes to leave a little downtime in their travel schedule. If crossing the border is one of your priorities, the location around Luohu Port is definitely something to take into consideration.

🏨 Shenzhen Hotel Recommendations: Nanshan Area

If you love that mix of tourist spots, shopping districts, and city life that Shenzhen offers, Nanshan District is definitely worth considering! Beyond Nantou Ancient City, you’ll also find the Tech Park, MixC World, and plenty of other places to explore, with the metro making it easy to get around. Staying in this area can save you quite a bit of travelling time, especially if you’re planning to visit Nantou Ancient City, Shenzhen University, or the Tech Park.

1. Golden Jade Hotel (Nanshan Zhongshan Park Metro Station)

If you’re looking for an affordable hotel with easy access to the metro, Golden Jade Hotel is one to add to your list. Starting from around RM175 per night, it’s a pretty budget-friendly option for exploring Shenzhen. The hotel is only about a 2-minute walk from the Zhongshan Park Metro Station exit, so you won’t have to drag your luggage very far.

One of the biggest advantages is its proximity to Nantou Ancient City, which is only about 690 meters away. If you’re planning to explore this historic area, you can simply walk over and spend a leisurely afternoon checking out the old buildings, shops, cafés, and local food.

For me, this hotel makes the most sense if you’re planning to use the metro a lot during your trip. I’d recommend it for ✅budget travelers, ✅solo travelers, ✅couples, and ✅friends travelling together, especially if you want to keep accommodation costs down without giving up a convenient location.

2. Jianguo Palace Hotel Shenzhen Bay

If you’re visiting Shenzhen for the Tech Park, Shenzhen University, or Shenzhen Bay area, Jianguo Palace Hotel is one hotel worth considering. Prices start from around RM220 per night, and the hotel is located near Yuehaimen Metro Station, making it easy to get around by metro!

The hotel is about 230 metres from Yuehaimen Metro Station, so it’s only a short walk away. I also like that there are convenience stores and restaurants right downstairs, which makes it easy to grab something to eat when you’re heading out or coming back to the hotel at night 🍜

For those with work or plans around the area, Tech Park is about 1.7 km away, while Shenzhen University’s Yuehai Campus is around 1.1 km away. If you’re planning a shopping stop, The MixC is about 1.9 km away too 🛍️ I’d recommend this hotel for ✅business travelers, ✅couples, ✅friends travelling independently, and anyone with plans around Tech Park or Shenzhen Bay. If you prefer staying somewhere with a metro station, restaurants, and convenience stores nearby, this is a pretty practical option.

3. Crystal Orange (Shenzhen Nanshan Xinhaofang Branch)

If you want to stay near Nantou Ancient City and have plenty of restaurants and shopping options nearby, Crystal Orange Hotel is one hotel you can consider! The location is pretty convenient if you’re planning to explore the Nanshan area. Nantou Ancient City is only about 560 meters away, which is roughly a 5 to 10-minute walk. You can easily spend a few hours wandering around the old streets, checking out the shops, grabbing some local food, and then head back to the hotel for a rest when you’re done 📸

The nearest subway station is around 760 meters away. It’s not right outside the hotel, but still within walking distance, so getting around by metro is relatively easy! If you’re planning to visit The MixC World, it’s about 3.5 km away and you can simply take the subway or grab a taxi.

🏨 Shenzhen Hotel Recommendations: Bao'an Area

If you're flying into Shenzhen, or if your itinerary includes Bao'an or Qianhai, staying in Bao'an District can actually be quite convenient ✈️ There are plenty of hotel options here, from budget-friendly stays near the airport to hotels closer to Uniwalk and Bao'an Center. Especially if you're catching an early morning flight, staying nearby can save you from having to rush through Shenzhen before your flight.

If you have an early morning flight, a late-night arrival, or simply need somewhere to stay during a layover, Shed Hotel is worth checking out. Prices start from around RM121 per night, making it a pretty budget-friendly option for a short stay 🏨

The biggest advantage here is the 24-hour free airport shuttle service, including free airport pickup. This is especially useful if you're arriving in Shenzhen late at night or have an early flight the next morning. Instead of worrying about how to get to the airport with your luggage at an odd hour, you can simply arrange the airport transfer and get some extra rest 😴✈️

The hotel is around 8.9 km from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and about 680 meters from the nearest subway station. So if you have some free time before your flight, you can still take the subway out and explore the area instead of staying in the hotel all day. There are also several shopping and dining options nearby, including Hezhou Wanhe Plaza, Taoyuan Xingfuli, and Hejian Life Plaza.

Overall, I think this hotel works particularly well for ✅early-flight travellers, ✅transit passengers, ✅short stays, and ✅budget travelers. If you're arriving in Shenzhen in the middle of the night, having a 24-hour airport shuttle is definitely one less thing to worry about!

2. Huayi Hotel (Shenzhen Bao'an Pingzhou Subway Station)

If you're planning to spend a few nights exploring Bao'an rather than just staying near the airport, Huayi Hotel is another option worth checking out. Prices start from around RM207 per night, and the location makes it easy to combine sightseeing with shopping and food.

The hotel is about 10.3 km from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, so it's not exactly an airport hotel, but getting around is still fairly convenient with Pingzhou Metro Station nearby. Dachanli Shopping Center is around 810 meters away, so you can easily head over for some shopping, grab a meal, or simply take a walk around the mall in the evening. There are also plenty of restaurants around the hotel, which means you won't have to travel far just to find something to eat.

If you're looking for something a little different to do, Ren Shan Ren Hai Aquarium is less than 100 metres from the hotel 🐠 So if you happen to be travelling with kids or simply enjoy visiting aquariums, you can easily add it to your itinerary without spending much time getting there.
