Hebat
PPengguna TetamuThis hotel is expensive, but the service is disappointing. First, no one helped me carry my luggage to my room.
Second, during the buffet dinner, they kept running out of melons, and in the last ten minutes, they were completely out of melons. They told me to wait five more minutes, saying they would come back one last time. But there was nothing. I feel that for a buffet, to simply stop serving food in the last ten minutes is a very bad form of fraud. Since the hotel is unwilling to honor its promises to save a little money, I think I will probably not return to this hotel anymore.
CCocozazaThe room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the view was great. The free cocktail and coffee services in the lobby were nice, as well as the free drink bar (including one beer per person) near the entrance to the hot spring. The paid massage service was also good. The meals were decent, especially the grilled beef, which simply melted in my mouth. The restaurant staff welcomed us warmly and provided friendly service.
Cons: The variety of hot springs was lacking, and the view from the hot springs was almost blocked, which was disappointing. The lockers for valuables used combination dials, and foreign guests often didn’t know how to use them, locking their room keys inside and struggling to reopen them. This was a major inconvenience. They should switch to a key-and-wristband system like other onsen hotels.
The room itself felt like an old, once-grand mansion that had seen better days. The furniture had many scratches, and the surfaces were worn and peeling. It made me think it must have been impressive in the past. Still, the room was definitely more spacious compared to other hotels.
PPengguna TetamuI read the mixed reviews and was concerned about my choice, particularly those which highlighted some concerns on the service, etc. Generally, it's an acceptable hotel. We met friendly and very helpful foreign staff who were sincere. I think mainly because all the staff has to multi-task from the front desk to meals etc, they may not appear very attentive. But we had a good experience with the foreign staff so far, particularly Adihadara. I am not sure if I spelt his name correctly. I call him ”Adi” in short. He was eager to help my husband with our luggage and took note of our preference for a table at the window for our meals. The property does appear aged and some apparent wear and tear but their effort to maintain it at this level of general acceptable look and feel is commendable. At the end of our two nights stay, we did have an enjoyable time to chill and relax at the hotel.
PPengguna TetamuThe place has everything you need, from cooking to private onsen. Very clean, comfortable and relaxing stay.
I highly recommend this if you’re with family
MMargaret TomLove the area and the outdoor public baths. The meals were good. My husband complained that there’s no meat but I like all the vegetarian dishes provided. Tasted very good. There’s a small fried fish and few sashimi slices. My husband rates the food to be 3/10 while I rate it 5/10 as I am amazed at how they make vegetarian dishes so well.
They do not serve any fish for breakfast which is quite unlike other ryokan we had been to. They had more vegetables and an egg for breakfast. I liked it though.
The ryokan had free shuttle service for pick up and drop off to coincide with the bus times, very convenient, responsible and timely.
PPengguna TetamuThe location is really good. 10 mins away from the station. Easy to find. Big hotel, about 11 floors. The room is quite spacious, part in western style with beds and part in japaneese with tatamis. There is sink in themiddle of the room, quite comfy. Good view to the mountain and forest from the window, 9th floor. Nice yukata to wear, i liked the outerpart. Breakfast and dinner is buffet, quite big choice, free beer for dinner, not so many fruits, no cakes for breakfast (dinner only). There is sushi and sashimi choice, delicious food. Onsen is quite good, clean, big. Will recommend to stay here
JJ. SimonThe hotel is around 10mins walk from Kinugawa-Onsen Station. Although there are many abandoned hotels, shops, residences, buildings around the surrounding area, I can still explore the area as the street lights are lit in the evening.
The hotel is divided into different wings and occupies a large area. I stayed in the upper floors of the hotel’s main building (Kirakukan) but there’s an option to stay at the hotel’s park-cottages that is built on the cliff of the riverbank and overlooks the Kinugawa river.
The Kinugawa Park Cottage is located separately further away from the main building.
I only noticed a local Japanese family of four or five persons being escorted by the hotel staff to one of the cottages.
Other than that one-off encounter, I didn’t see anyone else at the area around the cottage which is also super quiet.
Likewise for the other wings of the hotel i.e. Kinoyakata and Kishintei, I didn’t see any guests maybe due to low season.
Love the onsen and the private open-air bath, the traditional Japanese kaiseiki breakfast and dinner.
There’s also a souvenir shop, ramen & snack shop as well as an outdoor swimming pool which I couldn’t use as it is only available for use come summer time.
Just across the road from the hotel, there’s the Waterside Cafe Terrace, a 7-Eleven convenience store adjacent to the hotel and since there’s no self-service washing machine/dryer in the hotel, the nearest 24h laundromat is around a 5-min walk from the hotel located behind the Waterside Cafe Terrace and across the road facing “Galarie Cafe Painto E”.
On the day of check-out, the hotel helped to store my luggage and I had lunch at “Suzukawa Cafe” just next to Galarie Cafe Painto E. The food prices here are slightly cheaper than the ones near Kinugawa-Onsen station.
GGinny YapThe hotel overall is great for the price paid, and service was excellent especially from the Vietnamese girl at the front desk who speaks English AND Japanese fluently. Even Japanese guests thought she was Jap. Haha. However, the company could do with hiring a bit more staff as there are things that need a bit more attention and some repairs needed in the room. That being said, the rooms are huge! The outdoor onsen was also colder than expected (although this is explained during check in) and is best in the morning.
