Staying at Jiuhuli·Siheyuan Guesthouse (Ancient City Drum Tower Branch) 玖合里·四合院民宿（大同古城华严寺店） was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The location is absolutely unique — being inside the ancient city walls of Datong and staying in a traditional Chinese courtyard house made the entire experience feel authentic and unforgettable. It is much more than just a hotel; it is a cultural experience. The decoration and design are impeccable: elegant, refined, and beautifully done with incredible attention to detail. The rooms are extremely comfortable, with high-quality products, premium facilities, and a very peaceful atmosphere that made us feel at home immediately. What made our stay even more exceptional was the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond in every possible way. They helped us arrange an excellent private driver at a very reasonable price, which allowed us to enjoy a perfectly smooth and efficient day visiting three major attractions outside the city: the Hanging Temple, the Yungang Grottoes, and the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. Everything was organized flawlessly, making the trip completely stress-free and enjoyable. Overall, the service was simply amazing from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Datong who wants not only comfort and beauty, but also a genuine and memorable local experience. 入住玖合里·四合院民宿（大同古城华严寺店）是我们这次旅行中最难忘的体验之一。民宿位于大同古城城墙内，住在传统四合院里，让人真正感受到浓厚的历史文化氛围。这不仅仅是一家酒店，更是一种非常地道、特别的文化体验。 整个民宿的装修与设计都无可挑剔，审美非常高级，细节精致优雅，处处体现用心。房间非常舒适，配备的用品和设施品质都很高，环境安静温馨，让人一入住就有宾至如归的感觉。 最值得特别称赞的是这里卓越而贴心的服务。工作人员非常热情专业，真正做到了超出期待。他们还帮我们安排了一位性价比非常高的司机，让我们能够非常顺利、轻松地在一天之内游览大同周边三大景点：悬空寺、云冈石窟和应县木塔。整个行程安排得非常顺畅，让我们完全没有压力，玩得特别开心。 总体来说，这里的服务真的令人惊艳。从住宿环境到服务体验，一切都非常完美。强烈推荐给所有来大同旅行、希望体验传统文化与高品质住宿的游客！

We took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. The staff in the hotel were fantastic, going above and beyond. One of the receptionists (Liu) spoke English better than anyone we met in China during our 10 day trip. The hotel looks like a traditional Chinese courtyard - but like all of Datong's old city, it's freshly built to recreate the lost era. Which is also a good thing: the rooms are new and clean. Unfortunately, the shared areas in the hotel were usually filled with cigarette smoke (because the guests would often smoke in those areas, even at the breakfast table). Luckily, the rooms themselves were well ventilated, and we couldn't smell any smoke when we were inside. The breakfast was very basic.

The Renyi is a wonderful hotel in a great location looking onto the City walls. We were greeted by the friendly and welcoming owner who showed us to our rooms. We were two independent travellers who decided to have a room each, and both rooms were superb. Mine looked onto the pretty courtyard while my friend’s faced the City walls, with each having a balcony with table and chairs. Both rooms were duplex with comfortable and spacious living areas and bathroom/showers downstairs and the bedroom upstairs. All areas were spotlessly clean and the bed was big and comfortable and I had a wonderful night sleep. Centre stage though is the gorgeous communal area which was adorned with beautiful plants and flowers, a small fish pond and even a peacock that gloriously but quietly strutted its stuff. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking around the ancient city with the major tourist attractions only minutes from the hotel’s door. The ancient city itself is stunning and delightful to walk around. We also took a trip to the nearby Yungang Grottoes which are breathtaking and a must see. We were both amazed by their beauty and historical significance to both Chinese and Buddhist cultures. There are also many great restaurants within walking distance of the Renyi, and the owners were very helpful and provided us with any advice we needed. As other reviewers have said the Renyi is a beautiful blend of historic and modern and I would highly recommended the hotel to anyone thinking of staying in DaTong.

This boutique hotel is conveniently located in the old City. The hotel staff are very friendly and even fetched us from the train station. Hotel room is spacious and comfortable. I accidentally dropped a ring in the lobby and the staff picked up and returned to me. Very pleasant staff and highly recommended.

The auntie manning the hotel is very friendly. Although meals are not included in the booking, she still made us welcome fruits & drinks and even breakfast. Also trying to help us with our tours with a local tour guide. The price for the local tour guide is very reasonable.

This hotel is located in the heart of the ancient city of Datong. Although there were few steps of staircase leading to the entrance of the hotel and the reception was on level 2 and our room type was only available on the 3rd level. Upon check in the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo was very helpful and she helped us to carry our luggages to our room at level 3.. There was a small window in our room overseeing the street. The room was spacious and very clean. All corners, fixtures and furnitures in our room were wiped very clean. All amenities were provided inside the room too. The bed mattress and pillow were soft and very comfortable. Body gel, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, hand wash and clothing detergent were all good quality. 2 water bottles, toothbrush, hair comb and slippers were provided in the room. There were space to hang our winter clothing and also washed socks and inner wears. The air-conditioner was superb as it can be adjusted to 4 types of air:normal, wet reduction, cold air and warm air, hence it made our stay more comfortable. There was also an air freshener machine in the room to refresh the air inside the room. So far this is the cleanest hotel room throughout all my China trips. The housekeeper was friendly and ensure the room being cleaned up daily. Overall, I would like to compliment the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo for her hospitality and kindness in helping us when we asked her for any information about Datong and places to eat. Xiao Guo always smilling and her warmness has let us felt very welcomed as a hotel guest. Another compliment was to be given to the housekeeper old lady who really did a great job to ensure the cleanliness of our hotel room and the entire hotel public areas. Highly recommended this hotel to all tourist.

The entire experience is really fantastic. For foreigners coming to China, I would recommend stopping by Datong and staying in this guesthouse. The owner is extremely friendly, providing pick up and drop off service for my family with elderly parents. There is no need to worry about the language barrier as she does her best to make the experience as comfortably as she can. She also sent us to a nearby famous hotpot restaurant. Rose tea and fruits are served every night and her 刀削面 for breakfast is the best I had of all the noodles I ate in China. It’s a very homely feel and I would want to go back again. The bed is very comfortable, with Dyson hair dryer and warm water works well. There is a bidet and elevator in the guesthouse. Wonderful experience and ps: this is not a paid review 😆

這次到大同旅遊，選擇入住聖雅居民宿，真的是最明智的決定！從預訂到離店，全程體驗無可挑剔。 地理位置： 民宿位置鬧中取靜，去古城牆、華嚴寺、九龍壁等核心景點都非常方便，步行即可到達。周邊生活便利，但又不會過於嘈雜，晚上休息非常安靜。 環境設施： 一進門就被深深吸引！裝修極具特色，完美融合了古典中式美學和現代的舒適感。房間打掃得一塵不染，床品柔軟舒適，躺上去瞬間卸去旅途的疲憊。設施更是滿分，高清投影、品質一流的洗浴用品，細節處處能感受到主人的用心。 服務熱情： 老闆和工作人員的熱情好客讓人有回家的感覺。房間內介紹了遊玩攻略和美食地圖，幫忙預訂門票，省心不少。 特色體驗： 不得不提的是他家附近的早餐！地道的山西特色，乾淨又美味，為一天的遊玩注滿了能量。 總之，聖雅居不僅僅是一個住宿的地方，更是旅途中的一份美好回憶。下次來大同，絕對會再次入住，也會毫不猶豫地推薦給所有朋友！

Extremely happy with my stay here! Room is very spacious and clean, and I was within walking distance to most of the attractions and restaurants. The staff here are very friendly and they always went out of their way to make my experience in Datong memorable! I'm especially grateful because the manager showed me how to order food from local restaurants using my phone and get it delivered straight to my room! 10/10!!
