"The hotel and its staff were excellent. They were always willing to meet your needs. The rooms were very well designed and clean, especially the bathroom. The location was great. You can reach Princes Street in just 25 minutes on foot. The bus stop was very close to the hotel. we could even say it was directly in front of it. By bus, you can reach almost anywhere in 10 minutes. The rooms were quiet and warm."
"The hotel is very good. The rooms and common places are very spacious, the personnel is extremely friendly, professional, kind and helpful. A bit far from city center (20 mins by bus or 40-50 mins to walk), no gym. The restaurant is very good and food is delicious at average price. Very good equipped. Definitely highly recommended."
"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Haymarket Hotel in Edinburgh.
I stayed in a spacious King Room overlooking the garden, and I absolutely loved it. The room was huge, with beautiful high ceilings and a wonderful sense of space and air. The Victorian character of the building gave the room a special atmosphere. It was quiet and peaceful, which is quite unusual in Edinburgh, and I slept extremely well. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had everything I needed, including a fridge, safe, fan and plenty of furniture and storage space. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the bed linen was fresh and comfortable. The location is excellent, just a couple of minutes' walk from Haymarket Station, making it very convenient for exploring the city. The reception staff were friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. I really appreciated being able to leave my suitcase before check-in, and it was also very convenient that I could leave my luggage after check-out until late in the evening. I truly enjoyed my stay here. I loved the location, the size of the room and the overall atmosphere of the hotel. I have found my hotel in Edinburgh and will definitely stay here again on my next visit."
"The room was clean; however, it was poorly lit, and the dark wall colors did not help at all. Although we chose a room without windows, we did not expect such poor ventilation or effectively none at all. Our room was located on the ground floor, and there was no reception, while the hotel Wi-Fi also did not work downstairs. Soundproofing was very poor, which contributed to a situation that left us quite dissatisfied.
While my friend was in the common area trying to get a connection, she was disturbed by guests who were clearly intoxicated and were rude and abusive towards her. When I went to get her, I was also sworn at, and we quickly returned to our room to avoid the situation. She also noticed that several people passing through seemed to be familiar with these guests and did not acknowledgethe ongoing situation. Later in the evening, around 21:00, one guest began crying loudly and there was a heated argument between them and another guest. Due to the poor soundproofing, we could hear everything clearly.
We tried contacting reception about the situation, but they did not answer our calls. We felt unsafe leaving the room. Eventually, someone came down and only asked the guests if they were okay, and the situation was left unresolved. The noise continued for quite some time, and our sleep was significantly disturbed. Overall, we felt unsafe staying here."
"Perfect spot with plenty of nearby food places and public transport. Staff are lovely, and were so helpful when I had a medical emergency and needed to go to the ER in the middle of the night. They also were so good with helping me extend my stay by one night at the last minute due to said emergency. The front desk team also checked how I was doing when I came back! The cleaning team did at one point only do a half clean, where they cleaned the main room but not the bathroom, and another time left supplies in my room. But that was minor as my bathroom wasn’t really dirty anyway. I do wish the breakfast closed a little later (closes at 10am) but that is also just me being a late riser! Altogether a great stay."
"Firstly giving a big thanks to Holiday Inn Edinburgh for the amazing stay and helping with my requesting on the early check in. The venue is accessible and is along the Airport Bus line route which is amazing. The hotel is well kept and the staff are friendly. The room and amenities are great too. Will definitely recommend and if ever going back to Edinburgh will definitelt book again."
"My stay was perfect. I am an IHG members as well, they took my number and said that will add rewards to my account. I didn’t know it was possible, was never offered to me before by my previous IHG Hotel stays🥲
10mins to City Centre, staffs were lovely and courteous. Breakfast same as all Holiday Inn, there was a staff who would assist you to breakfast buffet and refill your water bottle if you ask.
Room was small but clean and nice. I was offered for a greener stay (they won’t clean the room or change the sheet if I opted not to, my choice, in exchange 500points to my reward -we’ll see?)
Bus station and Londis were few steps from the Hotel."
"Excellent Location, but Serious Security Lapses
I recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be a bit of a mixed bag. While there are some undeniable perks to the property, a few significant service and security issues made for a rather unsettling experience.
The Highlights
Prime Location: This is easily the hotel's strongest suit. It’s situated right next to Haymarket station, and there is a bus stop literally just outside the front door. Getting into the city centre takes no more than 10 minutes, making it a perfect base for exploring.
Commendable Service: The reception team provided a decent welcome. I’d like to give a special mention to Shreyas, who was incredibly helpful and professional throughout our interactions.
Quality Dining: We ate at the on-site restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The food was of a high standard, and the waitstaff were attentive and friendly.
Room Maintenance & Tech Issues
Unfortunately, the shine started to wear off once we settled into the room:
Housekeeping Oversights: Despite this being a multi-day stay, the complimentary water bottles were never replaced after the first day.
Faulty Tech: The in-room tablet was practically useless. It kept restarting due to a battery fault; ironically, it even cut out while I was trying to use it to contact reception.
Privacy Concerns: When we requested extra toilet roll, the staff member who delivered it attempted to walk straight into the room using their key, rather than knocking and waiting for us to answer. It was a complete breach of basic hospitality etiquette.
A Major Security Concern
The most distressing part of the trip occurred on our second day. Upon returning to our room in the evening, we were shocked to find the main door open. It appears the cleaning staff had failed to secure the door after finishing their rounds.
Finding your hotel room left open to the public is, quite frankly, scary. It’s a massive security fail that overshadowed the rest of the stay. While the location is brilliant, the hotel desperately needs to tighten up its staff training and safety protocols.
Would I stay again? Only if I were certain that the security and maintenance issues had been addressed."
"It's a great location as I was attending a conference at the Edinburgh Convention Center next door.
Front desk is ok & quote pleasant.
Breakfast @ £13 was quite good. The spread was more than adequate.
However the room would not be cleaned during the stay & 2 towels were provided. There was no fridge or in-room phone to contact the front desk. There are no room amenities eg brdroom slippers or toiletries.
For the room rates of ~£200 this standard is terrible."
"Saya menempah bilik ini untuk seorang rakan yang menjalankan tugas bagi pihak saya. Proses daftar masuk cukup mudah dan rakan saya tidak mempunyai aduan tentang bilik dan kemudahan hotel. Terdapat stesen sanitasi tangan di kawasan awam, yang bagus kerana anda tidak boleh terlalu berhati-hati pada hari ini. Akan menempah lagi untuk diri saya sendiri jika saya pernah berada di kawasan itu!"

PPengguna TetamuThe only thing that was good about this hotel was the location- the most central. Everything else was pretty bad. I have requested a room with a nice view for our special occasion but was given a room with the view of the industrial back wall. Called the manager and he came and apologised and said there were no other rooms left.
The room itself was outdated, looked like a hostel rather than a hotel. We have travelled a lot but this was the worst hotel we have stayed in. Our special occasion was ruined. The room was so tiny that it was difficult to squeeze a suitcase between the bed and the wall. The TV had no internet connected. There was no mini fridge. The bathroom entry door was a squeeze. The toilet was so close to the wall that you would be pushed into a wall. No toilet brush either.
For the expensive price paid they didn’t even give us a bottle of water or a biscuit. The restaurant is under refurbishment this time and they provide tea/coffee and pastries on level 3 for breakfast free. There is a limited expensive menu to order from reception to your room if you need.
The luggage storage facility is limited. When checking out many people were told there was no more room for the luggage storage and those people had to go and look for the pricey luggage storage outside. We met some people also complaining about the hotel. Will never come back to this hotel again.
PPengguna TetamuI recently stayed at the Marriott in Edinburgh and had a fantastic experience. The location is one of its biggest strengths—perfectly situated with easy access to the city’s main attractions, making it ideal whether you’re visiting for sightseeing or business.
The food was another highlight. The on-site dining offered a great variety, and everything I tried was fresh, flavorful, and well-presented. Breakfast, in particular, stood out with plenty of options to suit different tastes.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bed ensured a great night’s sleep, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing after a long day exploring the city. The attention to detail in the room setup really made a difference.
Overall, I’d highly recommend this hotel for its excellent location, quality food, and comfortable rooms.
TTats13I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel that other travellers should know what to expect.
I stayed in a single room on the top floor and was very disappointed, especially considering the price. The room was much smaller than I had expected and felt rather cramped. I paid £136 through Trip.com, even with a discount, and I simply did not feel that the room offered value for money.
The room looked tired and dated. The carpet did not look very fresh, the furniture was old-fashioned but not in a charming or historic way, and there were marks on the walls that could easily have been touched up. The bedside lamp also appeared to be damaged, as the lampshade was noticeably crooked and could not be adjusted.
I would also like to mention that the room and bathroom were clean, and the bed linen was fresh and clean.
I knew when I booked that the room did not include a safe or a fridge, as this was mentioned in the description. However, for a four-star hotel at this price, I still feel that a safe and at least a small fridge should be provided. The television was also very small, and overall the room felt very basic for the price and hotel rating.
The bathroom itself was a reasonable size, but it was not very practical. There was no shelf above the sink for toiletries, which was inconvenient. In the shower, the large shampoo and conditioner bottles were placed on the floor of the shower, meaning I had to keep bending down to reach them.
I would also like to mention that access to the upper floors involves a very steep spiral staircase. I was aware that there was no lift, but I did not expect the staircase to be so steep and difficult to climb.
As I was not comfortable in the room, I asked whether it might be possible to move to a different room. Unfortunately, there were no other rooms available.
I had originally planned to stay in Edinburgh for another night, but I decided to move to a different hotel instead.
The location of the hotel is good and convenient for Waverley Station, and the staff were polite and friendly. However, my overall experience did not meet my expectations for a four-star hotel, especially at this price. Unfortunately, I would not choose to stay at this hotel again.
PPengguna TetamuGreat location at the top of the road from Ocean Terminal and the Royal Yacht Britannia. The tram stop to the city centre is here too. Staff were friendly and professional, the room was clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was okay, limited choice of hot food (bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, baked beans and tomatoes). It would have been nice to have some jam or marmalade to choose from as the only spreads were butter, margarine and marmite.
SSesha.KanduriWithout doubt, this was one of our finest hotel stays in recent memory. From the moment we arrived, Novotel Edinburgh set the tone with a level of warmth and professionalism that genuinely stood out. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout and what really demonstrated this was a small but telling moment: we lost our key card during the stay, and it was replaced immediately, without any fuss or inconvenience whatsoever. It's the kind of effortless service that puts you completely at ease, and it's something you remember long after checkout.
The breakfast deserves a special mention — it was simply top notch. The spread was so good that holding back was near impossible, and it's the kind of breakfast that makes you actually look forward to the morning. Freshly prepared, well-stocked, and served with care — it's one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had.
The location is outstanding. Sitting just a mile from Edinburgh Castle, you're right in the heart of one of the most iconic cities in the UK. Public transport couldn't be more convenient either buses are accessible right behind the hotel, making it incredibly easy to get around the city without needing a car at all.
The one area that needs addressing is parking. The hotel's own car park is frequently full, which meant we had to use the nearby NCP instead. To the hotel's credit, they did provide a discount for the NCP - a thoughtful gesture that softened the inconvenience. However, it's worth noting for electric vehicle drivers: the EV charging at the NCP is painfully slow, so factor that into your plans if you're arriving in an electric car. A heads-up from the hotel at check-in would go a long way.
Parking frustrations aside, Novotel Edinburgh is a brilliant base for exploring the city - exceptional staff, an unmissable breakfast, and a location that's hard to beat. We'd return without hesitation.
PPengguna Tanpa NamaPerfect stay! This accommodation is in a quiet area and very close to the bus station, with many high-frequency bus lines that take you directly to downtown in 20 minutes. The room is clean and organized which really reminded me of my previous student accommodation haha. The staff are nice and helpful, and you can also store your luggage at the reception without any charge. And what I really want to mention is the breakfast! It has many options and food at fresh made. The only downside is that the room doesn’t have a hairdryer provided, you have to borrow one at reception. But it has high possibility that all the hairdryers might have already been borrowed if you come a bit late.
PPengguna TetamuStayed for 2 nights. Very quiet hotel in a great location right outside tramstop from airport.
Didnt eat in restaurant or have breakfast there, staff were lovely, bed very comfortable,
Only issue i had was that i would like to have been able to open a window for fresh air. Would definately stay here again, cant wait.
PPengguna Tetamueverytg was amazing. we struggled to check in (after 5pm) and there was no staff. we reached abt 10pm at night and was left stranded at the door, no access code given at all to enter main gate … called and contacted property but no one picked up. if ur not going to have a 24/7 reception, at least make sure u hv someone tending to emergency help… after what was 30mins of waiting and calling did a guest walk down to open the door for us … horrible check in experience but everytg else was good
PPengguna TetamuIt was not great but it’s worth the price I guess. It gets loud till really late like 2 - 3am so you definitely should have an earplugs. The location is perfect. So close to everything.
PPengguna Tanpa NamaVery very close to the Edinburgh Waverley train station! The location is really convenient, located in the heart of the city. Check in was quick, staff quite nice. Bed is comfortable, and good privacy with the curtains. However, there were hair on the bedsheet. Enough toilet and shower facilities, although some are broken, I had to take a cold water shower.
