Hotel berhampiran Stesen Asakura, Kochi

We stopped at the southern town of Kochi during our Shikoku cycling challenging around the island. It was a long day after 130km from Shishiku but finally arrived at the Dormy Inn at around 3:30pm. Location wise it’s excellent as it is at the heart of the shopping district with many shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel is bike friendly allowing us to take the bike into our room. Amenities is excellent and room is clean although a tad smaller than expected. In general I am happy with our decision staying at the Dormy Inn of Kochi.

Parking is competitive - we have to park at the carpark opposite JR Kochi for our first night but managed to snag a spot the second night. Staff is helpful and friendly. Location is good especially if you are travelling by JR but is quite a walking distance to the attractions eg, Hirome Market, Kochi Castle etc. There are convenience stores nearby where we bought snacks and enjoy the free coffee at the hotel lounge. We are glad breakfast is provided too as it can be a little difficult to find eateries nearby, and it is delicious. Room is clean and size is acceptable by Japan standard.

Definitely NOT A 5 star hotel quality and service. When we arrived, we were not greeted at the door, we had quite a few luggages but none of the staff even insisted on helping. The rooms felt small, nothing interesting with the interior (to be honest, it felt just like a better version of a business hotel), no bathtub in the rooms just a plastic shower room. Another thing I noticed is due to having only two elevators, I often encountered to full elevators especially during busy hours when people go to the public bath on the 5th floor. We also had to pay 1000 yen per night extra for parking which I find it absurd. The staff were not very attentive and all looked kinda like students. Overall, this hotel should not be ranked 5 stars. I will not go back.

The hotel is centrally located near most of the major attractions. As for the room, it feels a bit dated, but well-maintained. There are limited amenities on the ground floor for us to take and use. BTW, they don't do housekeeping every day, but do give you a clean set of towels the next day by hanging them on your door. For those who drive, your car is stored in a Car- lift style building, so you dont really can access your car easily.

Clean hotel with great staff and service. The best thing is definitely the location which steps out into the main arcade. Family mart down below and affiliated parking available for reasonable price (although car park is 4min walk from hotel). The only thing was that their coin laundry within the hotel absolutely does not work. Ran drying 3 times and clothes still came out wet. Just go to another external laundry service if needed.

Very convenient location, just opposite to the JR station. We can have a view of JR station from our room. The restaurant - Rita Shokudo, which is not far from the hotel, is super good. The room is standard Japanese size but the room is good in size for 2 persons. About 10 to 15 mins walk to the main shopping street and food market.

Location was perfect as it was very close to the JR station. The local food market was 15 min away. Room size was ok, not too small. Nice staff but didn't speak English. I was asked to pick a time for room cleaning. The furniture looked quite new and I could smell the renovation. The website said no WIFI in the room. Actually, it had. I thought the website had not yet been updated. The major problem was insufficient illumination.

호텔 내부는 리모델링 되어 새 호텔처럼 깨끗했습니다. 화장실에서 오래된 냄새가 아주 조금 약하게 나기는 했지만, 청소해주시는 직원 분들이나 로비의 직원 분들 모두 무척 친절하시고 깨끗하게 청소해주셔서 좋은 경험이 되었어요. 각 층에 엘레베이터 앞에 소파가 있어 쉬기 편했고 앤틱한 전화기도 예뻤어요. 그리고 위치도 훌륭한데 고치성이 도보 5분도 안 되는 거리에 있고, 고치의 명물 일요 시장도 바로 걸어서 금방 갈 수 있는데다가 버스 정류장도 바로 앞에 있어서 만족스러웠습니다. 고치에서 가장 훌륭한 호텔이 아닐까 싶네요!

Персонал очень гостеприимный и воспитанный. Завтрак, это пригоршня риса, стакан сока, ещё что-то, толку никакого. Очень маленькая ванная комната. В туалете можно застрять. Стекло в окне комнаты матовое, ничего не видно. Кому это пришло в голову ??? Ощущение, ка -к будто спишь в капсуле, а не в отеле. Окна фактически нет. Доплатил, 500 Йен, переехал в прекрасный отель на другой стороне реки, на карте видно.

The hotel is dated but has lots of charm! Yes, the fittings and furniture is old and outdated but everything is working as it should. The room (twin room) was generous in space by Japan standards. Here are some plus points about the hotel: 1) The windows can be opened fully to allow generous amounts of wind in (not the usual small openings). 2) The hotel staff are so generous and kind, they allowed us to check-in early and check-out late without charge! This is also the reason why we will definitely stay here again if we are in Kochi. 3) Hotel is located in the heart of all the bars (there were hoards of salarymen hanging around the area in the night and it gets very lively) 4) It’s a cosy hotel with no frills (so bring your own shampoo and conditioner if you are fussy about it). To manage your expectations, note the following: 1) It’s an old establishment, so don’t expect everything to be sparkling new or matching. No usb outlet charging as well. 2) Due to the location, you might hear lots of street noise if you open the windows at night. All in all, a wonderful little charming hotel, run by people who have the interests of their guests. Highly recommended!
