This is a small in front of the lake. The bus ride from the Tobu Nikko station was wonderful. It took 45 minutes and the ride is to climb the mountain. So exciting. There was a bus stop in front of the hotel. Otherwise you should walk for ten minutes from the bus terminal. The room was cozy and there was a massage chair in the room. As soon as we arrived in the hotel, we rushed to the ferry terminal to take the last boat. The dinner and next morning breakfast are wonderful. Please don’t expect to much about onsen because it is a small hotel with indoor and outdoor hot pools. The hotel offers free coffee and tea the people staying in the hotel.

Nestled along the shores of Lake Chuzenji, some rooms offer breathtaking views of the lake and the majestic Mount Nantai. The Japanese-style rooms are spacious, featuring tatami flooring, scenic areas, and comfortable beds, perfect for enjoying the beautiful autumn leaves! A special thanks to the two staff members, Lisz and Yuka, for their excellent service and fluent English in introducing each dish. They were truly professional!

Margaret TomLove the area and the outdoor public baths. The meals were good. My husband complained that there’s no meat but I like all the vegetarian dishes provided. Tasted very good. There’s a small fried fish and few sashimi slices. My husband rates the food to be 3/10 while I rate it 5/10 as I am amazed at how they make vegetarian dishes so well.
They do not serve any fish for breakfast which is quite unlike other ryokan we had been to. They had more vegetables and an egg for breakfast. I liked it though.
The ryokan had free shuttle service for pick up and drop off to coincide with the bus times, very convenient, responsible and timely.

Pengguna TetamuThe location is really good. 10 mins away from the station. Easy to find. Big hotel, about 11 floors. The room is quite spacious, part in western style with beds and part in japaneese with tatamis. There is sink in themiddle of the room, quite comfy. Good view to the mountain and forest from the window, 9th floor. Nice yukata to wear, i liked the outerpart. Breakfast and dinner is buffet, quite big choice, free beer for dinner, not so many fruits, no cakes for breakfast (dinner only). There is sushi and sashimi choice, delicious food. Onsen is quite good, clean, big. Will recommend to stay here

This was an interesting stay I was very obviously here in the absolute off season. The hotel is run in an interesting mix of can be cheap and can be high class. I didn't book with dinner included which is a mistake because during off season the surroundings were somewhat lacking no Konbini. The hotel offered microwaved food a bit pricily for the people who hadn't ordered the high class dinner option. I assume it was pretty high class because I did order the breakfast which was pretty high class. Except the coffee which wasn't. But the Onsen was great the room was good. Checkin and checkout is easily done. Amenities are good.

J. SimonThe hotel is around 10mins walk from Kinugawa-Onsen Station. Although there are many abandoned hotels, shops, residences, buildings around the surrounding area, I can still explore the area as the street lights are lit in the evening.
The hotel is divided into different wings and occupies a large area. I stayed in the upper floors of the hotel’s main building (Kirakukan) but there’s an option to stay at the hotel’s park-cottages that is built on the cliff of the riverbank and overlooks the Kinugawa river.
The Kinugawa Park Cottage is located separately further away from the main building.
I only noticed a local Japanese family of four or five persons being escorted by the hotel staff to one of the cottages.
Other than that one-off encounter, I didn’t see anyone else at the area around the cottage which is also super quiet.
Likewise for the other wings of the hotel i.e. Kinoyakata and Kishintei, I didn’t see any guests maybe due to low season.
Love the onsen and the private open-air bath, the traditional Japanese kaiseiki breakfast and dinner.
There’s also a souvenir shop, ramen & snack shop as well as an outdoor swimming pool which I couldn’t use as it is only available for use come summer time.
Just across the road from the hotel, there’s the Waterside Cafe Terrace, a 7-Eleven convenience store adjacent to the hotel and since there’s no self-service washing machine/dryer in the hotel, the nearest 24h laundromat is around a 5-min walk from the hotel located behind the Waterside Cafe Terrace and across the road facing “Galarie Cafe Painto E”.
On the day of check-out, the hotel helped to store my luggage and I had lunch at “Suzukawa Cafe” just next to Galarie Cafe Painto E. The food prices here are slightly cheaper than the ones near Kinugawa-Onsen station.

Pengguna TetamuWhen sitting in the lobby area, you can enjoy the snow view of the garden. The food and service are up to standard. But the most disappointing part is that the onsen water in the room was not hot at all, I had to pour hot water to make it warm.

I don’t understand why someone would leave a negative review due to their own negligence. Trip.com clearly mentioned the additional 300-yen tax (I assume this is the onsen tax) per person, yet they still claimed they were “scammed.”
My overall experience at Hotel Euro City was wonderful. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and the shuttle bus service was amazing. If you want to get to the hotel easily, check the shuttle schedule on the hotel’s homepage so you don’t have to walk from the station. They run it every day at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 15:15, 16:15, 17:15, and 18:15 from “Nikko Station Hotel Classic,” right next to JR Nikko Station.
The room was spacious and comfortable, and the onsen in the backyard was great. It’s true that the room had a mild smell, but I assume it was due to recent pest control (it smelled like pesticide). Just open the windows for a while and it goes away.
Breakfast was okay—not as fancy as in the advertisements, maybe because it wasn’t peak season. Overall, I think this is a very good choice, especially if you’re traveling with family.
