Hotel berhampiran Dataran Katedral, Christchurch

Located near the fun Regent;s street with lots of restaurants and bars, near the convention center and cathedral, but a bit farther away from the Riverside market etc (10-15 min walk). Staff is friendly, kitchen is really big and has everything, with lost of fridges and storage space. I booked the room for myself, it was very comfortable. They provide big towels, which is nice. No hair drier though. Right next to bus stop to airport.

It has a great location, just a few mins away from the city centre. It’s surrounded by restaurants, so plenty of choices for good food. The room is quite compact, and the window is small. The room is facing the building right next to it, so there is no view, which is a bit of a shame.

Parking, despite filtering for parking, is not free of charge at the hotel. The listing details 'additional fees' on the 'Amenities' page, not on the initial landing page. Upon inquiring where to park, I was directed to the public car park almost immediately opposite the hotel - $12 overnight; $25 for the day (not 24hr). Still, this is not on the hotel, as additional fees details are on the listing. I was not offered the $30 basement parking the hotel claims to have. Some rooms have a window but zero view. Twin rooms with double beds cannot accommodate much luggage. The shower cubicle is small. I am not tall (180cm) but the showerhead barely cleared my own head. Otherwise, the hotel delivered exactly what was expected from an Ibis. Beds comfy.

Keadaan dan kemudahan hotel secara keseluruhan adalah baik, tetapi apabila saya daftar masuk, tandas di bilik saya tidak dibersihkan (sisa daripada pengguna sebelumnya). Yang lebih menjijikkan ialah ada najis dalam mangkuk tandas yang tidak dipam. Yang lain semuanya okay.

I stayed here one night before getting in airplane from Christchurch. It’s a little bit far from Inter city bus stop. It’s easy to head to airport from here. Just 2 min to nearest bus stop. Room was new, clean and nice. If you want to leave it your luggage, you can do it. But you have pay extra. It was really comfortable hostel.

The hotel is located in the city centre of Christchurch. It is literally outside of the Bridge of Remembrance. The receptionists are only present during daytime. The afterhour check in is not difficult. I received a SIM card with the check in. The room is very spacious with a small kitchen. There is no breakfast on my booking but there are many cafes nearby. There are also many restaurants in the city centre. Riverside Market is very good to find international cuisine. Botanic Gardens and the Arts Centre are within walking distance.

Had a great stay here! The backpacker hostel was clean, comfortable, and had a really friendly atmosphere. Staff were helpful and the location was convenient for exploring the area. Met lots of awesome travelers during my stay. Would definitely recommend for budget travelers!

The location of the hotel is great. The service was partly friendly, but my bed sheets had some red stains, and the milk in the fridge had gone bad (it was already like cheese in consistency). I complained the next day because I only noticed the issues when I went to bed late, and nobody was at the reception. The response I received was that they could have changed the room, because they have 24hours workers. I didn’t receive a real apology or any gesture, such as offering breakfast, to make up for paying almost €200 per night. Considering the rate, I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and customer care…

I am writing to formally express my profound disappointment and dissatisfaction with the service provided by the Crowne Plaza hotel in Christchurch, New Zealand. My booking was for 5 rooms to accommodate a group of 9 family and friends, including young children and elderly members. Understanding that our group had specific needs, I proactively contacted the hotel in advance via email to politely request the possibility of an early check-in. The hotel’s response was both disappointing and unreasonable. They stated that an early check-in was not possible and suggested that if we wanted rooms available upon our arrival, we should book and pay for an additional night for the previous day. This response felt exploitative, implying that rooms were available but only for an additional charge, rather than as a gesture of goodwill or customer care. Accepting this, we adjusted our plans and arrived at the hotel after 3:00 PM, the official check-in time. To our great frustration, none of our five rooms were ready. The first room was only made available at 3:30 PM, and the last room was not provided until 4:30 PM—a full 90 minutes after the guaranteed check-in time. This caused significant inconvenience, discomfort, and stress for our group, especially given the presence of young children and elderly individuals who were tired after travel. As a loyal customer of the IHG brand who has stayed at their properties across Asia, I have always trusted their standards of hospitality. Unfortunately, this experience at the Crowne Plaza Christchurch represents the worst service I have ever encountered from IHG. The combination of an unaccommodating and profit-driven response to a reasonable request, followed by a failure to meet even the basic check-in commitment, reflects poorly on both the hotel and Trip.com as the booking agent.

Breakfast is good. Location is good. Receptionists are kind and helpful. Hotel booklet mentioned the filter water is available in the lobby area but receptionist asked us to go to restaurant area to get it. However, the restaurant staff were very rude to us and questioned us. We felt we were treated like a the thefts when we just tried to fill in the hot water in our water bottles. The hot water was only available from the coffee machine, which is very inconvenient and the restaurant staff thought we tried to steal coffees when we just tried to get the hot water. Suggest not to put the water machine in the restaurant area to avoid this problem again. Very bad experience to be treat like this.
