The location is in Koreatown, very convenient for eating. The room is simple and clean, there’s a coffee machine with coffee, but no hot water machine with tea, so you need to go to the service desk on the first floor if you want to make tea. There’s an ironing board but no iron.
The air conditioner is extremely loud when running.

I recently attended a concert at the Dolby Theatre, and I found this amazing hostel right across the street from the theater. The price is very reasonable, only about $40 per day, which is great considering the prime location. They also provide free towels, and there are lockers in the room, although you will need to bring your own locks.

We loved our stay.
It’s an older hotel but the furniture and everything else in the room was like new.
If there wasn’t a tv in the room it would’ve felt like we had traveled back in time.
I will definitely recommend and be returning. The location is clean and safe. Only downside is parking.
Other than that, I’d give it 5 Stars
If you’re looking for a good place to eat….don’t go for the hype and big stores. Little stand around the corner The Great White Hut is a must.

My go to for Hollywood. Very clean, location is a tad sketchy but it’s close to Universal and TCL. Bathroom is always clean. Staff is not warm but get the job done. Cheapest place around that isn’t gross or sketchy. Would recommend.

Great hotel really close to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and saw lots of the stars! 10 minute walk to nearest metro station for quick access to Universal and plenty of buses nearby as well to take you anywhere in LA. Hotel was clean, good facilities in room, only problem was 1 lift broken for most of the stay but that can happen, just meant waiting for the other one for longer to the higher floor where our room was. Pool area was very nice to have although could only use it briefly. Overall would highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore Hollywood.

The staff are nice and friendly. We got a corner room. The room is super spacious and comes with air conditioning, a heater, hot water for the shower, and a fridge. A microwave and an ice cube machine are available at the concierge level .Very nice backyard to enjoy your breakfast, there is cafe and bar at the next door. The room is old, and the floor is covered by thick carpet but makes squeaky sound when you walk. But no complaint since all basic needs covered. Paramount studio is within walking distance about 10mins walk. A LADOT bus stop just infront of the building. Location is convenient. Gas station is just opposite. Carpark is available with extra charge USD18/night. Room costs S$852 for 6 nights. Not sure if it’s cheap or expensive.

Dichtbij de walk of fame maar wel in het wat 'mindere' gedeelte. Hadden een kamer met terras geboekt maar dat voldeed niet aan onze verwachtingen. We hebben om een andere kamer gevraagd en dat was geen probleem. Jammer dat we in die kamer aan 1 kant tegen een blinde muur aankeken maar naar de andere kant was het oké. Dakterras is top maar was zondagavond gesloten, de bar dan. Hier wordt ook het ontbijt op geserveerd en dat was goed, met mooi uitzicht.

YYC008Here's why we gave the experience 3 stars;
First of all, when we booked the hotel, neither Trip.com nor The Aster, Los Angeles, mentioned anything about the rooftop being closed on the dates we booked. On May 13 and May 14, we stayed in room 3 0 6. The hotel pictures showed and bragged about having a rooftop and plenty of pics of people there, and nowhere was revealed anywhere on their website or Trip.com that would not be available on those dates. When we reached out to Trip.com, they pretty much said that the rooftop amenities weren't listed as part of our package. Really Trip.com? You have to list the rooftop as the amenity... Got it. That was so lame a response. Everyone knows people book due to the pictures, and this was a seriously lame response from the Trip.com customer support personnel. We decided to save our opinion for this review.
The Aster had nice people, but it's hard to believe the availability missing on their website is a detail they would miss. Their hotel has impeccable detail and design. One can only surmise they conveniently left out the information because people would obviously not book there and go somewhere else. I told the front receptionist this as we were checking in. She mentioned, well, it said it on *******. But we didn't book through *******, we booked through Trip.com. And those specific details were not evident. After July 1st the Government is getting stricter on transparency with hotels having to mention things so we missed this window, but we're happy to hold hotels like The Aster accountable:-)
Also, on Wednesday, we checked out, and they had a fire alarm drill test that lasted about 10 minutes. They forgot to mention another minor ”inconvenience” when we booked on their website. It was at 10 am. It wasn't so bad, but to state the obvious, they left out the ability for customers to decide by not making that information transparent during the booking process. It's not like the fire department or tech people didn't schedule that in advance.
1. If you book through Trip.com, please make sure you specify, call their customer support, and get it in writing. The clickbait and pictures seem shady and sketchy and reflect a lack of credibility in the process.
2. Trip.com asked which room we wanted to be in. When we picked the room, we picked the city-view balcony. But we got put in the poolside view instead. It wasn't bad, but that was missing in the booking details that Trip.com sent to The Aster. My fiance ended up being okay with the poolside view, but it should have been in the booking details via Trip.com. So please, please make sure you watch this if you book through them and call the hotel in advance.
Lastly, the decor, valet, and, in general, the service people were very nice and thoughtful. We would give them 5 stars.

There was an empty bottle on the desk. No tissue or body wash. Would think about choosing another hotel next time.

However, the parking situation was a nightmare. The only option was valet parking, which wasn’t made clear in advance. Finding the entrance was confusing, and once we finally did, we learned valet was mandatory at $63 per day. The valet staff were very friendly, but I prefer the flexibility to park and access my car on my own schedule. There was a nearby hotel offering parking for $40/day, but the back-and-forth logistics made that option impractical.
The room itself was stylish and well-kept but extremely small with minimal privacy. I was traveling with kids for a cheer competition, so we had a lot of gear, and there just wasn’t enough space. The room only had a small table under the TV, a few nightstands, and a bench—no real space for extra luggage or to move around comfortably. The layout was tight, especially between the bed and furniture.
The bathroom setup was a major downside. There was no separate bathroom area—just a shower and toilet with no full wall or door for privacy. With a group of young girls in the room, this made things really awkward, especially when I wasn’t feeling well and needed a private space. There was no fan or door to close off the bathroom area completely, which was a big issue.
While the room was clean overall, I did notice dust in some areas—on the top shelves, above the fridge, and on the showerhead. I always do a wipe-down when I check in, and while the floors and surfaces were generally clean, those harder-to-reach spots had been missed. There also weren’t enough hooks or space to hang and organize clothing or gear.
Overall, the cleanliness and staff were great, but the lack of space, privacy, and clear parking info really took away from the experience. Because of the room layout alone, I wouldn’t choose this hotel again—especially when traveling with kids or for an event where space is a must.

LLily in wonderlandI had a 10 hour layover in LAX and after reading the reviews for the Sheraton I decided to book a room before my next 15 hour flight. Best decision! Spent my time relaxing in the spacious, clean room. I went to the gym and even sat by the pool! I’m definitely booking once I’m around lax again.

Unfortunately, my experience was not as expected - 1) the receptionist was not polite and no smile on his face, 2) the parking cost was unreasonable expensive ($75) while the hotel room charged around $110, 3) the room decoration was very simple and old fashioned… I would not recommend this hotel at all

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel was nice and the staff was excellent. Unfortunately they only had one working elevator, the others weren't working (out of order). The ice machines were broken except one on the 5th floor. The sliding glass door to get into the hotel was broken. You had to use the smaller side doors to get in. They only had one luggage cart available and it was semi broken. Couldn't hang any clothes on it. The windows on the outside of the room were dirty.
The pool was nice but not heated, very very cold. The jacuzzi was fine. No towels out there, you had to bring them from your room. Parking is hard to find in the lot at night and sometimes during the day during to the ****** attached to the hotel.
All in all we would stay there again.

PPengguna TetamuMy wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised.
Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience.
Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration.
Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website.
Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price.
The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet.
Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.

Bbilge_First time, i stayed at hostel and the hostel was acceptable with location and safety in hostel. Bus stops and metro is prettt easy to use. The people was nice to talk and communicate in hostel. Easy check in-out. The breakfast is not breakfast, just bread, nutella, peanut butter and pancake mix.
Every morning, a lady cleaned the bathroom. Everyone was respectful to be quiet for others in my room; i was lucky✨🤞🏻
