My wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised. Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience. Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration. Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website. Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price. The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet. Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.

Without giving any reason, the staff sent me to another staff member to check me in while he continued assisting others. I was checked into a room that was already occupied. They kept saying they were experiencing system errors, which prevented them from telling which room had been taken. It took me about 2 hours to check into a room. However, the room was filled with a bad odor.

Overall was good, nice helpful front desk staff. But, did not inform us that parking was not free. I was only made known when my room deposit refund was usd15 lesser. Please have courtesy to inform us first.

The room was very clean, and the staff was absolutely incredible—kind, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. However, the parking situation was a nightmare. The only option was valet parking, which wasn’t made clear in advance. Finding the entrance was confusing, and once we finally did, we learned valet was mandatory at $63 per day. The valet staff were very friendly, but I prefer the flexibility to park and access my car on my own schedule. There was a nearby hotel offering parking for $40/day, but the back-and-forth logistics made that option impractical. The room itself was stylish and well-kept but extremely small with minimal privacy. I was traveling with kids for a cheer competition, so we had a lot of gear, and there just wasn’t enough space. The room only had a small table under the TV, a few nightstands, and a bench—no real space for extra luggage or to move around comfortably. The layout was tight, especially between the bed and furniture. The bathroom setup was a major downside. There was no separate bathroom area—just a shower and toilet with no full wall or door for privacy. With a group of young girls in the room, this made things really awkward, especially when I wasn’t feeling well and needed a private space. There was no fan or door to close off the bathroom area completely, which was a big issue. While the room was clean overall, I did notice dust in some areas—on the top shelves, above the fridge, and on the showerhead. I always do a wipe-down when I check in, and while the floors and surfaces were generally clean, those harder-to-reach spots had been missed. There also weren’t enough hooks or space to hang and organize clothing or gear. Overall, the cleanliness and staff were great, but the lack of space, privacy, and clear parking info really took away from the experience. Because of the room layout alone, I wouldn’t choose this hotel again—especially when traveling with kids or for an event where space is a must.

Normally wouldn’t stay at this property due to 2 previous bad experiences in the past. Our preferred hotel was sold out so we booked to stay here. We would only return because of the welcome and outstanding service received from Cassandra at the front desk. She was genuinely keen assist us to arrange 3 rooms together and very accommodating. Hotel itself is very good with coffee making machine in room, fridge, and good tv channels. Shower pressure could be better. Housekeeping very noisy in the morning talking loudly in corridors and banging doors. A lot of airline crew stay here on their stopover so this shows quality. I would return only because service and welcome from Cassandra was exceptional. There are several airport hotels on Century Blvd you could choose from but because of her kindness, I will return. There are several eateries along Century Blvd and easy walk to airport. You can park at Joe’s parking next door in order to avoid the hefty parking charges at the Sheraton.

Our experience was not very impressed. When we got into our room (Rm 1223), the heater was not working. We called the front desk but no one was able to pick up the phone. In the end, we went to the front desk hoping to find someone to deal with the problem. Unfortunately, there was a long line waiting to be checked in. We waited at the cafe until the line was gone. Tomisha was very helpful; she offered to give us another room (Rm 1226). However, the heater was also not working in the second room. We were so tired and didn't bother to ask for a third room. As many people have commented, the hot water in the shower was not hot enough. The room was already cold and there was no hot shower. So, you can imagine how I spent that one night at the hotel. We go on our annual cruise to Mexico and usually stay at Hyatt Regency. We wanted to explore another hotel this time, and booked three rooms altogether. I don't think we will return again.

Located near Artesia Metro train station but the area is fenced up that it seems impossible to cross over the track directly to the hotel. I chose LA Crystal Hotel thinking I could walk there after taking the Metro train to the Artesia station ( according to Google map). We took the bus at the M station and one stop only later, you still need to walk and cross the road ( Be very careful of oncoming trucks, cars because it can be a blind spot as they turn a curve towards your side of the road!). However, on your return to the M station, you could walk easily ( no need to risk crossing the road this time) and downslope without need to take the bus to the Artesia Station. I like the self-making Waffle station ( see photo ) at breakfast time.

I thought Westin is well-known Lux hotel so I chose it amongst all other LAX nearby hotels. Unfortunately, my experience was not as expected - 1) the receptionist was not polite and no smile on his face, 2) the parking cost was unreasonable expensive ($75) while the hotel room charged around $110, 3) the room decoration was very simple and old fashioned… I would not recommend this hotel at all

This review based on mainly on my check-in experience and first impressions of the room. After 2 flights traveling from Shanghai to Los Angeles, including a 12-hour flight, I arrived exhausted and ready to check in. I was aware of the required USD $100 deposit and had no issue paying it. However, upon arrival I was informed that cash deposits are not accepted. This information was not stated on the booking platform I used (Trip.com), nor was it made clear in advance in any correspondence from the hotel. As a result, I was left waiting over 30 minutes in the lobby while staff contacted a manager and discussed making a “one-time exception.” To be clear, this situation should never have occurred. If a hotel does not accept cash deposits, that policy must be clearly and explicitly stated on all booking platforms, not just the hotel’s own website, which the manager on duty reiterated, that it was on the hotel’s website. Guests should not be made to feel as though they are asking for special treatment when the lack of transparency on a specific policy is not their fault. I had already prepaid for two nights online, yet due to the hotel’s failure to update its information, I was left embarrassed, inconvenienced, and forced to wait in the lobby after an exhausting international journey. I want to emphasize that I am not blaming the front desk staff personally, nor the manager on duty, as they are likely following the rules given to them. However, situations like this must be handled with far greater care and professionalism. Paying guests, especially those who are respectful and simply trying to check in should be treated with dignity and understanding. While the manager on duty appeared to try to assist, by that point I was already too annoyed and too exhausted to engage in further discussion on an issue that was not my problem. Being told that a “one-time exception” would be made did not feel helpful, because I was not asking for a favor; I was simply trying to check into a room I had already paid for. Unfortunately, the room itself did not improve my first impression. Basic expectations typically associated with this brand were missing, no complimentary water, minimal toiletries, and nothing that made the stay feel welcoming after such a long journey. Having stayed at Holiday Inn and IHG properties across the world, this is easily one of the poorest first impressions I have experienced in hotel stays. I was extremely dissatisfied with both the check-in service and the overall initial experience. Clear communication, professionalism, and basic hospitality standards matter to all customers, especially for tired international travelers. Based on this experience, I would not choose to stay at this property again. All the other staff I encountered during my were lovely though, especially the restaurant/kitchen staff and the security officer.

First time, i stayed at hostel and the hostel was acceptable with location and safety in hostel. Bus stops and metro is prettt easy to use. The people was nice to talk and communicate in hostel. Easy check in-out. The breakfast is not breakfast, just bread, nutella, peanut butter and pancake mix. Every morning, a lady cleaned the bathroom. Everyone was respectful to be quiet for others in my room; i was lucky✨🤞🏻
