After a week in a cramped cruise ship cabin, I had modest expectations for this hotel. But I was pleasantly surprised! Not only was it ideally located just a 5-minute walk from the train station and surrounded by restaurants and attractions, but it was also surprisingly comfortable. Our family of four enjoyed a spacious room with a queen-sized bed for my wife and me, and two single beds for our kids. The free WiFi was reliable, and the breakfast was a welcome bonus, comparable to what you'd find in local restaurants. The only minor hiccup was a non-functional TV, but with good internet, it wasn't a major issue. The staff was exceptional! They were kind, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a wonderful experience. The hotel was clean and quiet. The room was spacious. Breakfast was included. They have a service to hold your luggage if you arrive before check in time or need to stay in the area after you check out. (We needed to use this option due to our flight departure time.) Also, SUPER AMAZING bonus was that it is located very near Piazzle Roma AND the train and bus stations as well as multiple water taxi locations. The location was stellar! The value for the cost was wonderful for Venice. Clean and basic hotel at a wonderful price! This was what we were looking for since we were only in our hotel in the evening to sleep. I HIGHLY recommend this!

My family & I needed somewhere to shower & freshen up before exploring the city of Venice after a sweaty 10-hour train ride. Very kind and understanding staff that doesn’t make you feel like a fool for being a foreigner. With regard to amenities, the hotel has a powerful A/C unit in every room, free, fast Wi-Fi, and is very close to the train station & within a couple minutes from the center of the city by foot. It was recently remodeled (July 2024) if that matters to you. The hotel staff also let us leave our heavy luggage with them in a locked room for the whole day while my family & I were out getting go know the city. With all that being said, if you’re looking for a place to do a quick stop to freshen up or just somewhere to spend the night without breaking the bank, this might be a great destination for you.

I've stayed here for a couple of times, Nice stay in this hostel, there are helpful staff members, very useful map provided, lovely common sitting area on the ground floor. Easy to reach from San Macro stop. There are some shops around. Just one thing, it could be better to add blinds/curtains on each bed, thanks

This is a beautiful hostel with great amenities and lovely location. It is perfect for travelling to Murano and Burano and a nice respite from the busy centre during tourist season while still feeling very authentically venetian. HOWEVER, my stay was negatively impacted by the fact that I had to share a locked twin room with a male stranger who proceeded to act completely inappropriately and made me feel very unsafe. I booked a six bed mixed dorm because there were no female only dorms left, (I did include a note in my booking stating that if at all possible I would prefer this, but understood that there was no guarantee.) Upon arrival, I discovered that a six bed dorm is not in fact a six bed dorm, but an apartment with three separate lockable rooms with twin beds in each, the bathroom is then shared between 6 (with showers that are not lockable or segregated by gender). I was immediately nervous at the prospect that I may need to share this bedroom which is lockable from the inside with an unknown male; all I could do was hope for the best. Upon arriving back alone from dinner that evening, I found that it was indeed inhabited by a male who proceeded to lock the door before bed, talk to me non-stop and then wait until I had turned out the lights to proposition me. This is something which I assume would have been less likely in a room with other people present. I also would have felt more secure that he would attempt to act on his desires in a shared room with others and perhaps somebody would have intervened and supported me in dealing with this inappropriate behaviour. Instead, I lay awake all night scared that he may engage in something non-consensual if I were to fall asleep. While I know the actions of the guest were not the responsibility of Combo, if I knew when I booked that the sleeping set-up was like this, I simply would not have booked. Many people, perhaps not solo female travellers, may have been very happy not to have to share with six but instead to have a twin room, but in this scenario, I most certainly wasn't and my fears of inappropriate male behaviour ended up being realised. I would return to Combo Venezia, but never as a solo female booked into a mixed dorm. I hope the proprietors can learn something from this review.

Hotel Caprera is a traditional Italian boutique hotel, in a historic building, conveniently located near the Grand Canal and walking distance from the train station. There are countless shops and restaurants within a five minute walk from the front door. The family that runs the business is friendly, courteous and provided us with excellent communication leading right up to our stay. The continental breakfast provided was simple, yet adequate, including fresh rolls, yogurt, fruit, cheese spread, expresso, etc. Things to note for your stay at Hotel Caprera: This is a nicely designed older hotel. As is common in Italy, not all rooms are air conditioned. The rooms without air conditioning have fans. If it is important for you to have an air conditioned room, make sure you request it when you reserve your room. Also, there is no elevator, but you will only need to get your luggage up the stairs once and the location would be very difficult to beat! The front desk assisted us with our luggage, which we did not expect, but absolutely appreciated. However, if one of the older family members is running the front desk, there is no guarantee they will be able to assist with your luggage. Again, remember the amazing location! We were so happy with our experience here and will absolutely reserve a room here again if we make it back to Venice.

It's always nice when you arrive at a hotel and have that warm welcoming feeling, which is exactly how we felt, which stayed with us throughout our stay. We actually arrived a little early but the lady accomodated us with a friendly smile. The hotel is in a convenient location just a few minutes walk from the railway station, buses and waterbuses which are a splendid way to get around the city and to other islands like Murano and Burano. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby for various budgets. We had breakfast daily which is very inexpensive and needless to say we were welcomed with a friendly smile. Our room was located upstairs which you access outside by a pleasant shaded courtyard . The room had all the usual attributes of safe, refrigerator with cool drinks etc and a nice shower room with bidet and toiletries. We had a pleasant few days there with some fond memories.

Hotel is located in a great part of Venice, 10min of slow walk to the center, great restaurant right across the street. We've booked a room for 3 nights with breakfast which was satisfying with lots of pastries and local food although there was no vegetables or fruit. I recommend this hotel due to its price and value ratio. Our room was in Pantalon hotel, we needed late check in and staff was extremely helpful and kind, thanks to Emilia! Our stay was very pleasant. Keep in mind that when it's cold outside you need to close the window covers
