Three Pools Mirroring the Moon is famously featured on the back of China's one-yuan banknote! Located on an island in West Lake, this attraction requires a boat ride to reach. Once you're there, take a leisurely walk around the island and enjoy the classic lake scenery. If you're already planning a cruise, I'd definitely consider adding this stop to your itinerary.

Love flowers and taking photos? 📸 Quyuan Fenghe is especially beautiful in summer, when the lotus flowers are in bloom. The ponds, greenery and traditional Chinese scenery make it a lovely spot for a relaxed walk. If you're visiting during lotus season, don't forget your camera! It's a great place to enjoy a different side of West Lake.

The hotel is situated at the foot of Santai Mountain. While technically in the West Lake area, it's set a bit back from the main spots, allowing you to escape the bustling crowds while still being within walking distance of the lake. There are plenty of historical sites nearby, such as Yu Qian Temple and Tomb, and the nearby Gaoli Temple is uncrowded and very pleasant to stroll through. Inside the hotel courtyard, you'll find a Ming Dynasty stone statue of Su Shi, natural spring water, and abundant birdlife. I stayed in Building 3, which is the newest of the three buildings, but since it dates back to 2016, the room facilities are showing their age—the rattan chair on the balcony was a bit damaged, and the bedside power outlet was broken.DariQAR 460

I brought my elderly mother to Hangzhou and we stayed at the Zixuan. We were very satisfied! The facilities, service, dining, and room types were all excellent. What I loved most was the wonderful combination of 'luxury + wild charm'. The luxury offered convenience and comfort, while the wild charm nourished our spirits and minds, and the pervasive aroma of essential oils served as the link between the two. Sleeping amidst the serene greenery of Yuhu Bay, with the sound of rain pattering on the roof and steps – endless misty rain, freely falling blossoms, winding paths leading to secluded spots, and moss-covered green steps. Drinking tea in the hotel's courtyard was simply delightful. Flower Harbor Viewing Fish, Leifeng Pagoda Scenic Area, Prince Bay Park, the southern entrance of Su Causeway, and Majiawan Pier are all within walking distance. Turtle Pond, Yuhu Bay, and Yu Qian Temple are very close by. If you're young, you can even walk to Quyuan Garden (Curved Courtyard and Lotus Pool in Summer) and Maojiapu. Getting to Hupao Spring is also easy; it's just a three-stop bus ride from Wuzhuangyuan Archway in Yuhu Bay. My mother had a relaxed, unhurried, and enthusiastic time, and I was so happy to be able to enjoy the beautiful Hangzhou spring so leisurely with her! I saw a couplet at Pinghu Qiuyue (Autumn Moon Over the Calm Lake) that read: 'If you want to compare West Lake to Xizi, then invite the bright moon to wait until next year.' This made me think: next year when I come to Hangzhou, I'll stay here again.

Having previously stayed at Anyu in Lijiang, I'd always wanted to experience the Hangzhou branch, and finally got the chance during the National Day holiday. The decor blends Song Dynasty Jiangnan aesthetics with Chinese Wabi-sabi. The furniture is made of dark, textured wood, giving it a substantial yet not heavy feel, and every detail exudes quality. The cleanliness is excellent, and the bedding is comfortable. Furthermore, Anyu's breakfast, afternoon tea, and complimentary late-night sweet soup are never just for show; they're both Instagram-worthy and delicious. I traveled to Hangzhou alone after the National Day holiday and finally experienced the renowned West Lake State Guest House. I stayed in a 2nd-floor balcony king room in Building 8. Overall, the environment and location are top-notch, but the service and facilities fall a bit short.
First, regarding the location and environment: it's right on Yanggong Causeway, close to Wuguitan. Exploring the Ten Scenes of West Lake and taking a manual wooden boat from Majiawan Pier are super convenient. The hotel has its own Dingjiashan Hill—not very high, but very serene. Walking up the steps after breakfast to overlook West Lake, following in the footsteps of great leaders and experiencing a glimpse of their daily lives, is a truly unique experience. The hotel gardens are massive and meticulously maintained. Taking a stroll by the lake with a distant view of the Su Causeway offers genuinely stunning scenery.
Next, the facilities: based on travel guides, I chose Building 8, which is relatively new, yet I still found the facilities overly dated. Specifically, I encountered the following issues:
1. The gap under the room door is huge. People talking and walking in the hallway sounded as if they were right inside the room. Every time someone next door swiped their keycard, it gave me a start, making me think someone was accidentally trying to enter my room.
2. The TV is ancient—very, very small, with a terrible picture—and the remote control has poor responsiveness, which really detracts from the stay.
3. The balcony screen door was extremely hard to slide. After I managed to force it open the first time, I couldn't close it at all.
4. The exhaust fan switch in the toilet did nothing when pressed.
5. Overall cleanliness looked okay, but lacked attention to detail. Upon checking in, I found a live spider in the bathtub. After spending the day out sightseeing, I returned to find turndown service had been done and a bath mat placed in the shower area, but the spider was still there.
6. Only soft pillows were provided, with no latex pillows available; the support was abysmal.
As for the service, the staff felt very robotic and lacked warmth. The young receptionists in the lobby rarely took the initiative to greet guests, though the older staff were relatively better.
Regarding dining: Ziwei Hall, the hotel's Black Pearl-rated restaurant, was underwhelming. Given the price, the food offered no particular surprises, and most signature dishes had no discounts for in-house guests. Ordering food delivery (Waimai) is also quite inconvenient: delivery drivers must leave the orders at the main gate, where staff pick them up in a golf cart, bring them to the building, and then a delivery robot brings them up to your floor.
One small detail: the complimentary evening fruit included fresh jujubes and yellow dragon fruit (pitahaya). Yellow dragon fruit is something that needs to be cut with a knife—how are guests supposed to eat it? I really don't understand the hotel's choice of amenities.
To sum up, this state guest house is exceptionally well-suited for bringing your parents; older folks will likely love it. However, the overall comfort level of the facilities is quite poor, very dated, and fails to meet the habits and expectations of younger travelers.DariQAR 847

A really pleasant stay at Serene House in Hangzhou, where we booked two rooms — one for 4 days and the other for 5 days. Overall, we were very happy with our choice!
The location is convenient for visiting nearby attractions. Most places are around 5–15 minutes away by Didi, depending on traffic. West Lake is also within walking distance, although it is a bit of a distance. The hotel is also conveniently located near 杭州植物园 and 灵隐寺.
The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful.
The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable.
Front desk 小严 和小王were friendly and helpful. Communication via WeChat was easy, and they responded very promptly whenever we needed assistance.
We stayed on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Although there is no lift, the staff were very helpful and kindly assisted us with carrying our luggage during both check-in and check-out.
Really appreciated their thoughtfulness and helpful service!

Jiuliyunsong has always been one of our family's top choices for hotels in Hangzhou. Before our trip, we received a check-in reminder SMS from the hotel. To enter and exit the scenic area, you first need to go to the shuttle bus pick-up point, and the hotel provides a dedicated car service. The new traffic regulations will undoubtedly make guests hesitate when choosing a hotel, but thankfully, the hotel's shuttle service is excellent, with an attendant onboard who proactively arranges pick-up times. Our stay was as good as ever. The hotel's location is a major plus, with the Feilaifeng Scenic Area and Tianzhu Scenic Area within walking distance. The service attitude from the bellhops, front desk staff, and room attendants at every stage was excellent. Breakfast used to be a major highlight for us, but after so many stays, we're experiencing a bit of palate fatigue. We suggest adding more variety to the breakfast options. By chance, I returned to Amanfayun after a year. Aside from a minor unpleasant incident during check-in (which was beyond their control), the overall experience was perfect.
I noticed the changes the hotel has undergone in a year. For example, the Amanfayun sign at the intersection has been replaced (the old one had more character, haha). The room now has a new Bluetooth-enabled speaker and a capsule coffee machine. The welcome amenity has changed from four small snacks to two small packets in the minibar, and they've added Longjing beer and an extra luggage rack. However, they've maintained what should be kept, like not adding lights, smart toilets, or TVs – these are things I believe shouldn't change.
The entire team was more vibrant, lively, enthusiastic, professional, and meticulous than last time. This visit, I truly felt that every staff member I met could immediately recognize me and address me by my surname. (When the shuttle was taking me to check out, I dropped some personal items on the road. A staff member I saw on the roadside called the front desk. I said I hadn't lost anything, and the front desk repeatedly confirmed with me, but the staff member was so sure it was mine. When they brought it over, it indeed was! 😄). The service was subtly predictive and attentive. The housekeeping auntie, seeing me wandering outside my room, told me I could ask the front desk if I wanted to tour a room, which I actually had been thinking of doing. 👍 At the time, I was wearing slippers, and the ground was a bit wet, so when she cleaned the room later, she left two extra pairs of slippers. She also noticed I used the coffee machine and boiled water for tea, so she placed extra bottles of water in that area. Charging cables were neatly coiled, and a mat was placed under my personal toiletries bag, among other thoughtful details. There was a warm welcome and send-off in every area.
I found out that going to Faxi Temple would take half an hour on foot, and it was hot and humid with no other suitable transportation. I casually mentioned it in the breakfast restaurant, and the hotel immediately arranged a shuttle for me. It was an empty small road, and after a ten-minute walk after getting off, I arrived at the main entrance of Faxi Temple. I was the only one on the entire path, very serene. When they came to pick me up to return to the hotel, they thoughtfully prepared iced water and iced towels. At check-out, I saw a cute little cat lying on my bill, and finally, the staff members saw me off to the car.

I cannot recommend this place enough! My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights and honestly considered to postpone our flight back to Guangzhou just to extend our stay 🤣 The service is exceptional, offering to carry our luggages and help us with our itinerary. Felt like a big warm family :) The included breakfast is also delicious! The room itself is so beautiful, wonderfully decorated, and the view is mind blowing. There are so many animals in the guesthouse too, we loved the 3 cats and 2 bearded dragons. Very good location in the mountains so it is quiet at night and we were finally able to get some good night sleep. Front desk staff Xiao Xu and Xiao Wu provided excellent service. This is my second stay at the hotel; the last time was three years ago during the May Day holiday. On the first day of this trip, I hiked the back mountain by myself, which has a beautiful trail. On the second day, I saw a wedding being set up, and they quickly dismantled everything by 9 PM. Both nights were great. It's a 20-minute taxi ride to the Shimei Tea Picking area. My only suggestion would be for breakfast to start at 6:30 AM instead of 7:00 AM, because if you eat at 7:00 AM, it's very rushed, and you need to catch a taxi by 7:20 AM. The fragrance of osmanthus was everywhere at the Zhejiang Hotel, and even taking a casual stroll along Santai Mountain Road right outside the hotel, you'd spot three or four osmanthus trees around every corner. To our pleasant surprise, when the business rooms I booked were fully occupied, the hotel didn't just fob us off with an arbitrary room; instead, they upgraded us to the Jiangjun Building, which is definitely a step up from what I originally booked. The room instantly gave off a luxurious, classic vibe, and the books on the TV cabinet were actually readable. While the furniture and bathroom fixtures show their age, they are exceptionally well-maintained and still very convenient to use. What I liked most about staying at Xiaolang Homestay was how convenient it was to go to West Lake in the evening. It's about 500 meters to the entrance of Su Causeway and about 800 meters to the lake. That day, after dinner, I strolled there leisurely and caught the sunset over West Lake. There weren't many people on Su Causeway, and the breeze was very pleasant. When I got tired, I sat by the lake for a while. On the way back, I also stopped by Prince Bay Park, where the evening light was particularly beautiful. The location of the homestay is perfect for people who enjoy walking. Honestly, the most special part was the owner. It was super busy before the Ming Dynasty Festival, and the owner helped us find parking, recommended great places to eat, and even invited us to drink tea. Some guests even got to experience tea picking in the tea garden. Any questions we had about local attractions and routes were answered perfectly, saving us from wasted trips. The room decor was cozy and inviting, simple without being luxurious, but incredibly comfortable. It truly felt like home, and the breakfast was delicious. Facilities: Honestly, the facilities don't quite match a four-star rating. The bathroom lighting is too dim, which makes showering a bit uncomfortable. The room light switch design is a bit awkward; it took me a while to figure it out, and I couldn't find a night light mode. The lights also respond a bit slowly. However, overall, it's decent. I chose to stay here for convenience when sightseeing, and it's definitely very handy for visiting attractions and temples. If you want to go to Lingyin Temple and the God of Wealth Temple, I recommend staying here.
Cleanliness: Apart from a dead bug on the floor right when I entered, everything else was fine. I forgot to take a picture, but the wall under the mirror light was a bit dirty. Otherwise, all acceptable, and there were no unpleasant odors, which was good.
Environment: As mentioned above, the environment doesn't really give a four-star impression. You can choose it for its proximity, but the soundproofing in the rooms is very poor. I could hear the ladies next door chatting clearly. Luckily, they weren't chatting late at night, so it didn't affect my sleep.
Service: I actually didn't want to give five stars for service because my takeout order took a very, very long time to be delivered last night. I called three times. The first time, I informed the front desk that my food had arrived and asked them to bring it up. The second time, no one answered. The third time I called, someone picked up and told me they were too busy to deliver it right then. My takeout took almost forty minutes to get from the front desk to my room. The reason I ended up giving five stars is because the hotel is very close to the attractions, so there were traffic controls. We couldn't get a taxi to the high-speed train station and had to walk a long way. The hotel staff provided us with a car to a place where we could catch a taxi, which was very thoughtful.
Overall summary: It's generally okay. If you want to visit Lingyin Temple and the God of Wealth Temple, it's highly recommended. However, if you're looking for a top-notch four-star experience and environment, proceed with caution. Nevertheless, all the staff members were very friendly. Because it's away from the city center and located in the mountains, it's difficult to find restaurants and convenience stores nearby. My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights and honestly considered to postpone our flight back to Guangzhou just to extend our stay 🤣 The service is exceptional, offering to carry our luggages and help us with our itinerary. Value for money: Excellent value for money. For 372 a night, check-in was at 3 PM and check-out the next day at 2 PM. It included breakfast, afternoon tea, a Hanfu/Kimono photo shoot with one instant photo, and calligraphy copying of sutras.
Dining: The complimentary breakfast tasted good, with options for wontons or mixed noodles.
Special features: There was a wide selection of Hanfu and Kimono styles for the experience, with plenty of props and scenes, making it great for photos. They gave a free instant photo, which turned out very well, I loved it. The free sutra copying was very meaningful. The hot spring was very comfortable, with the perfect temperature, and felt wonderful after a soak. All the bath towels, bathrobes, and regular towels were provided. Parking: Free 24-hour parking. Location-wise, the hotel is in a fantastic spot right by West Lake and next to Longjing Road. The Maojiabu bus stop is nearby, offering direct buses to the Broken Bridge and Leifeng Pagoda, and it's also very convenient for evening strolls. The only downside is that because it's in such a prime location, traffic can get congested.
As for dining, breakfast is served as a set meal at the adjacent restaurant. You can choose one main dish (such as Xiaolongbao, scallion oil noodles, or braised pork noodles), complemented by eggs, corn, sweet potatoes, milk, congee, and soy milk, offering a decent variety. The restaurant environment is also quite nice, and kids will definitely leave with a full stomach.

Outside the room, the Jiangnan-style gardens are lovely. During our stay, the air was filled with the fragrance of osmanthus. There are no tall buildings around, making the nights quite quiet and very comfortable.

I brought my elderly mother to Hangzhou and we stayed at the Zixuan. We were very satisfied! The facilities, service, dining, and room types were all excellent. What I loved most was the wonderful combination of 'luxury + wild charm'. The luxury offered convenience and comfort, while the wild charm nourished our spirits and minds, and the pervasive aroma of essential oils served as the link between the two. Sleeping amidst the serene greenery of Yuhu Bay, with the sound of rain pattering on the roof and steps – endless misty rain, freely falling blossoms, winding paths leading to secluded spots, and moss-covered green steps. Drinking tea in the hotel's courtyard was simply delightful. Flower Harbor Viewing Fish, Leifeng Pagoda Scenic Area, Prince Bay Park, the southern entrance of Su Causeway, and Majiawan Pier are all within walking distance. Turtle Pond, Yuhu Bay, and Yu Qian Temple are very close by. If you're young, you can even walk to Quyuan Garden (Curved Courtyard and Lotus Pool in Summer) and Maojiapu. Getting to Hupao Spring is also easy; it's just a three-stop bus ride from Wuzhuangyuan Archway in Yuhu Bay. My mother had a relaxed, unhurried, and enthusiastic time, and I was so happy to be able to enjoy the beautiful Hangzhou spring so leisurely with her! I saw a couplet at Pinghu Qiuyue (Autumn Moon Over the Calm Lake) that read: 'If you want to compare West Lake to Xizi, then invite the bright moon to wait until next year.' This made me think: next year when I come to Hangzhou, I'll stay here again.

I traveled to Hangzhou alone after the National Day holiday and finally experienced the renowned West Lake State Guest House. I stayed in a 2nd-floor balcony king room in Building 8. Overall, the environment and location are top-notch, but the service and facilities fall a bit short.
First, regarding the location and environment: it's right on Yanggong Causeway, close to Wuguitan. Exploring the Ten Scenes of West Lake and taking a manual wooden boat from Majiawan Pier are super convenient. The hotel has its own Dingjiashan Hill—not very high, but very serene. Walking up the steps after breakfast to overlook West Lake, following in the footsteps of great leaders and experiencing a glimpse of their daily lives, is a truly unique experience. The hotel gardens are massive and meticulously maintained. Taking a stroll by the lake with a distant view of the Su Causeway offers genuinely stunning scenery.
Next, the facilities: based on travel guides, I chose Building 8, which is relatively new, yet I still found the facilities overly dated. Specifically, I encountered the following issues:
1. The gap under the room door is huge. People talking and walking in the hallway sounded as if they were right inside the room. Every time someone next door swiped their keycard, it gave me a start, making me think someone was accidentally trying to enter my room.
2. The TV is ancient—very, very small, with a terrible picture—and the remote control has poor responsiveness, which really detracts from the stay.
3. The balcony screen door was extremely hard to slide. After I managed to force it open the first time, I couldn't close it at all.
4. The exhaust fan switch in the toilet did nothing when pressed.
5. Overall cleanliness looked okay, but lacked attention to detail. Upon checking in, I found a live spider in the bathtub. After spending the day out sightseeing, I returned to find turndown service had been done and a bath mat placed in the shower area, but the spider was still there.
6. Only soft pillows were provided, with no latex pillows available; the support was abysmal.
As for the service, the staff felt very robotic and lacked warmth. The young receptionists in the lobby rarely took the initiative to greet guests, though the older staff were relatively better.
Regarding dining: Ziwei Hall, the hotel's Black Pearl-rated restaurant, was underwhelming. Given the price, the food offered no particular surprises, and most signature dishes had no discounts for in-house guests. Ordering food delivery (Waimai) is also quite inconvenient: delivery drivers must leave the orders at the main gate, where staff pick them up in a golf cart, bring them to the building, and then a delivery robot brings them up to your floor.
One small detail: the complimentary evening fruit included fresh jujubes and yellow dragon fruit (pitahaya). Yellow dragon fruit is something that needs to be cut with a knife—how are guests supposed to eat it? I really don't understand the hotel's choice of amenities.
To sum up, this state guest house is exceptionally well-suited for bringing your parents; older folks will likely love it. However, the overall comfort level of the facilities is quite poor, very dated, and fails to meet the habits and expectations of younger travelers.DariQAR 847

The location is convenient for visiting nearby attractions. Most places are around 5–15 minutes away by Didi, depending on traffic. West Lake is also within walking distance, although it is a bit of a distance. The hotel is also conveniently located near 杭州植物园 and 灵隐寺.
The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful.
The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable.
Front desk 小严 和小王were friendly and helpful. Communication via WeChat was easy, and they responded very promptly whenever we needed assistance.
We stayed on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Although there is no lift, the staff were very helpful and kindly assisted us with carrying our luggage during both check-in and check-out.

Jiuliyunsong has always been one of our family's top choices for hotels in Hangzhou. Before our trip, we received a check-in reminder SMS from the hotel. By chance, I returned to Amanfayun after a year. Aside from a minor unpleasant incident during check-in (which was beyond their control), the overall experience was perfect.
I noticed the changes the hotel has undergone in a year. For example, the Amanfayun sign at the intersection has been replaced (the old one had more character, haha). The room now has a new Bluetooth-enabled speaker and a capsule coffee machine. The welcome amenity has changed from four small snacks to two small packets in the minibar, and they've added Longjing beer and an extra luggage rack. However, they've maintained what should be kept, like not adding lights, smart toilets, or TVs – these are things I believe shouldn't change.
The entire team was more vibrant, lively, enthusiastic, professional, and meticulous than last time. This visit, I truly felt that every staff member I met could immediately recognize me and address me by my surname. (When the shuttle was taking me to check out, I dropped some personal items on the road. A staff member I saw on the roadside called the front desk. I said I hadn't lost anything, and the front desk repeatedly confirmed with me, but the staff member was so sure it was mine. When they brought it over, it indeed was! 😄). The service was subtly predictive and attentive. The housekeeping auntie, seeing me wandering outside my room, told me I could ask the front desk if I wanted to tour a room, which I actually had been thinking of doing. 👍 At the time, I was wearing slippers, and the ground was a bit wet, so when she cleaned the room later, she left two extra pairs of slippers. She also noticed I used the coffee machine and boiled water for tea, so she placed extra bottles of water in that area. Charging cables were neatly coiled, and a mat was placed under my personal toiletries bag, among other thoughtful details. There was a warm welcome and send-off in every area.
I found out that going to Faxi Temple would take half an hour on foot, and it was hot and humid with no other suitable transportation. I casually mentioned it in the breakfast restaurant, and the hotel immediately arranged a shuttle for me. It was an empty small road, and after a ten-minute walk after getting off, I arrived at the main entrance of Faxi Temple. I was the only one on the entire path, very serene. When they came to pick me up to return to the hotel, they thoughtfully prepared iced water and iced towels. At check-out, I saw a cute little cat lying on my bill, and finally, the staff members saw me off to the car.
