Hotel berhampiran Stesen Gojo, Kyoto

Although it was short, I loved my stay here. Had great quality of sleep. Good base for Kyoto, near enough to key locations, but expect a lot of walking unless you use the bus. Nearest station is Kyoto Kawaramachi which is great for day drips just outside central Kyoto and if you are coming from Osaka or Kansai airport - see my tips below. Pros: great bathroom and toiletries, good water pressure and temperature, smart toilet, TV with streaming services, fridge, desk/stool, coat hooks (handy for winter time), semi-full length mirror, luggage rack, various lights to adjust to your preference, very clean, super comfortable firm mattress and pillows, good soundproofing for light sleepers, great air conditioning (room warms up pretty quickly in the winter), you can also open the windows which is nice, felt very safe as a solo female, can ask for more water bottles in reception, lift was never crowded, outlets next to bed, has luggage storage if you need, near the river and traditional streets for scenic strolls, close to bus stop, family mart otw from station for late night snacks. Cons: can hear police cars or cars with loud engines at night sometimes but not frequent, walking from the station with a suitcase was a bit longer than expected, my double room was a bit cramped for opening suitcase (could not open the front or bathroom doors fully to avoid hitting my suitcase) and I am one person (two suitcases would fit but you wouldn't be able to walk around the bed properly). Tips: If you are coming from Kansai airport (KIX), I recommend you take the airport limousine to Namba (bought a return ticket since it is cheaper). It drops you outside JR Namba station, you can go inside to get to the metro station, follow signs for the red Midosuji Line. Board the train to Umeda. Stay inside the station and follow signs for Osaka-Umeda or the brown Hankyu-Kyoto line. This line goes directly to Kyoto Kawaramachi station. When stations, always look for the lift signs if you have luggages. I think I took the lift closest to Exit 4, and it brings you up to a department store. You kinda have to walk through and get out. If you walk out the front entrance, there are a few steps, but if you go to the side doors, it has a slope to avoid carrying suitcases. It's a straight walk from the station. Unless you are doing day trips, Kyoto city buses are a lot better mode of transport in my opinion.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Booked it in a rush and couldn’t be more satisfied. I was more pleased that this was a my 4 night stay in Kyoto during my Japan trip this year. The style of the room is a modern traditional Japanese room, with tatami inspired floor for the bed area, separating the entrance and wash areas. The main bed is raised so there’s plenty of room underneath to store multiple luggages. I loved that there is a small wooden folding table that has its own wall hanger when not used. The toilet is also separated from the shower/tub room, and wash area with a sink and large mirror. Each area had its own sliding door. Extra toiletries available in the main lobby included bath salts, which was perfect for relaxing in the tub after hiking Mount Inari to the top. I was solo travelling but booked a 2 person room as that was the only one available at the time, and the price was just right.

Ryokan hosted by 3 elderly ladies. Peaceful, pleasant stay. The room is traditional tatami and futon - even in early spring, room was warm with heater and clean, futon was thick and comfortable. Room big and well furnished, even has a small table for ocha and okashi. Toilet was my favourite - separate toilet and bathing room, comes with tub to soak in like in the old time jap dramas. Hot water and strong. Location convenient near all impt attractions, but also not too near to be hectic and crowded. Loved the stay!

Below average room for the price. Location was great just a few mins walk to central area and subway station. Good food spots around. The room was literally just a bed- no wardrobe, shelves, mirror etc. one charging port for the whole room. There was two hooks on the wall which kept falling down- the place needs serious updating. Walls were paper thin- could hear everything in the next rooms and was woken up several times by people in rooms and in corridor. Bathrooms were not clean, wallpaper falling from walls, bathrooms didn’t seem attended to- left dirty for some time. One shower for the whole floor of private rooms and dorms- it was small and very outdated. Loud palettes of wood at entrance to floor unnecessary- just creates noise and shoe storage area damp and musty smelling. No ventilation in rooms so also musty in there too. Low doorways- if you’re tall this will be a problem. Luggage storage room crowded, badly organised and not supervised by staff. No staff manning reception for long periods of time during the day. Check in 4pm is very late and inconvenient. Book somewhere else- you’ll get nicer for cheaper.

The location is ideally good, 10mins walking distance to Shijo (the famous shoppingstreet all the way down to Yasaka Shrine). The hotel interior design looks dull and black, walls are painted/covered w/ black wallpaper. If you are quite not comfortable with dull environment, better select the other hotel. I am moderate with the environment as I switched side of the bed during my 2nd night, as I dint have a good sleep on my first night where the bed facing to the door directly. Slept quite well for the rest of the 2 nights later. Hotel provided free mini bun for breakfast until 10:30am. Amenities r provided, very convenient and handful. It is a Self-check in system in TAVINOS, and there are 2 kiosks available for you to do so. Please note that, there is a tax surcharge during check-in. There are 2-3 bus stops right in front of the hotel. One of my to go is city bus 80/205. Convenient & efficient bus schedule. Would come back again if there's another time travelling in Kyoto again (cause is budget friendly)

지하철 역에서 2~3분 거리입니다. 세탁기도 있고 (빨래 세제도 있었음), 욕실도 큰 편이고 수압도 좋았습니다. 주방도 있고, 냉장고도 있고, 침대도 2개 있고 꽤 넓고 좋았습니다. 신축 건물로 보입니다. 건물 보안도 좋고 방 내부 인테리어도 좋았습니다. 단점은 창문 방음이 되지 않아 차소리, 오토바이 소리, 말소리 전부 크게 타고 들어옵니다. 예민하면 도로 쪽 방은 피해야 합니다. 잠들기 어려울 수 있습니다. 가성비가 너무 훌륭하기 때문에, 다시 방문 할 것 같습니다.

The hotel was very well located as you are within a reasonable walking distance from a lot of places and a few blocks from a metro station. You have a lot of toiletteries in the reception and pijamas. I required assistance from the hotel with my luggage and they were very helpful. They have personnel who speak various languages.

一人でジャパニーズスタンダードルームに宿泊しました。部屋の半分が畳スペースとなっていてつい靴を脱ぎ忘れるので、アメニティの使い捨てスリッパを持っていくと便利です。 徒歩30分程度で清水寺に行けると伺ったので7時頃にホテルを出て、清水寺を観光しました。まだ店も開いておらずお土産を見たり買い食いをしたりは出来ませんでしたが、観光客も少し多い程度でゆっくり観光できました。8時半頃の帰り道では観光客が増え始めていたので、早めの時間がおすすめです。 朝食はホテルでいただきました。パンを温めるトースターは、短時間で焼き色が付きやすいので、1分前後で小刻みに焼くのが良いと思います。

I stayed here for 3 nights with 3 people. Everything was good. There was enough space to open 3 large suitcases. Amenities were provided. The location is convenient, with walking distance to the subway and bus station.

The hotel is in a great location, making it easy to access all the major attractions nearby. They provide different complimentary items and services at various times, which adds a nice touch to the stay. The staff were friendly and proactive, always ready to assist. One minor drawback is that there are only two washing machines available, so guests may need to wait during busy periods. On the positive side, the metro station is conveniently located right next to the hotel, making travel around the city very simple.
