I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect — right in the heart of Kyoto city. It’s just a short walk to both the train and bus stations, which made getting around super convenient. Plus, it’s very close to major shopping malls Takashimaya where you can buy Marukyu koyamaen matcha. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. They also have a washing machine and dryer available, which is really convenient for longer stays. However, there’s only one of each, so if it gets busy, you might need to wait your turn. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto! They also has nearby Izakaya that the owner was so kind and foreigner friendly welcome.

Ini kali kedua saya menginap di hotel ini. Kali terakhir adalah pada musim panas, dan tatami sangat selesa. Kali ini musim sejuk, dan tidur di atas lantai di dalam tatami masih agak sejuk. Mujurlah, bilik saya mempunyai tatami yang diletakkan di atas rangka katil. Kemudian, saya dan ibu berkongsi rangka katil dan tidur di atas tatami selama dua malam. Hotel ini menawarkan storan bagasi jika anda tiba lebih awal. Saya sangat menyukai kopi percuma di ruangan bawah tanah. Mereka menyediakan peralatan mandian pakai buang. Mereka mempunyai tab mandi, penanggal solekan, dan produk penjagaan kulit. Bilik itu sangat bersih. Ia hanya 5 perhentian bas dari stesen JR (platform A2). Anda boleh berjalan kaki ke hampir mana-mana sahaja, yang bagus untuk stamina anda. Secara keseluruhan, saya masih mengesyorkannya lima bintang. Dengan harga sekitar 200 RMB di luar musim, nisbah harga-prestasi sangat menakjubkan.

一人旅、周りに飲食店も多く便利な場所、部屋も清潔でチェックイン時に既にエアコンも効いている部屋で快適だった。トイレや風呂は共同。廊下は空調が効いていないため夜にトイレに行こうとした時に暑さに驚いた。今年の夏の気温が狂っているのが原因ですね。玄関は鍵がかかっていて、23時の門限前でもインターホンを鳴らして中に入れてもらう方式のためひっきりなしにインターホンが鳴っているのは気になる方がいると思う。わたしは疲れ果てていたため早々に寝てしまったくらいで、インターホンの音は気にならなかった。

Great location and helpful staff! They let us store our luggage for free before check-in. The neighborhood feels safe and is packed with eateries, cafes, and shops, with a market within walking distance.
On the downside, the rooms are very cramped and bare—just a bed and a bin with no other amenities. The walk from the station is a bit long, so the bus is a better option. Also, sharing one shower per floor is inconvenient, and there are no bidets in the toilets. The location is perfect, but the hotel really needs to improve its basic in-room facilities.

The location is ideally good, 10mins walking distance to Shijo (the famous shoppingstreet all the way down to Yasaka Shrine).
The hotel interior design looks dull and black, walls are painted/covered w/ black wallpaper. If you are quite not comfortable with dull environment, better select the other hotel. I am moderate with the environment as I switched side of the bed during my 2nd night, as I dint have a good sleep on my first night where the bed facing to the door directly. Slept quite well for the rest of the 2 nights later.
Hotel provided free mini bun for breakfast until 10:30am.
Amenities r provided, very convenient and handful. It is a Self-check in system in TAVINOS, and there are 2 kiosks available for you to do so. Please note that, there is a tax surcharge during check-in.
There are 2-3 bus stops right in front of the hotel. One of my to go is city bus 80/205. Convenient & efficient bus schedule.
Would come back again if there's another time travelling in Kyoto again (cause is budget friendly)

The unit is conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from the train station and near a shopping area, with several good eateries nearby. The unit itself is compact — there are only two double beds, two chairs and a small table, which feels a bit cramped for four medium-sized adults. The balcony gets morning sunlight, which is great for drying clothes.
However, the washing machine filter was dirty and required cleaning before we felt comfortable using it. The kitchen utensils provided were minimal — only 3 forks, 2 spoons, and 2 teaspoons, although there were 4 plates and bowls. It wasn’t quite enough for a group of four. There were also no extra garbage bags provided, so by the end of our few days stay, the bin was nearly overflowing.
The beds were on the soft side — which my children enjoyed — but they made squeaky noises when lying down. Also, do note that there’s no front desk service, so luggage storage before check-in or after check-out is not available.

一人でジャパニーズスタンダードルームに宿泊しました。部屋の半分が畳スペースとなっていてつい靴を脱ぎ忘れるので、アメニティの使い捨てスリッパを持っていくと便利です。
徒歩30分程度で清水寺に行けると伺ったので7時頃にホテルを出て、清水寺を観光しました。まだ店も開いておらずお土産を見たり買い食いをしたりは出来ませんでしたが、観光客も少し多い程度でゆっくり観光できました。8時半頃の帰り道では観光客が増え始めていたので、早めの時間がおすすめです。
朝食はホテルでいただきました。パンを温めるトースターは、短時間で焼き色が付きやすいので、1分前後で小刻みに焼くのが良いと思います。

The Hotel SUI Kiyomizu Kyoto it's very conveniently situated in front of the Metro Station. It is also very conveniently situated on a bus stop, which makes it very easy and very convenient to get around town. It is also very close to the old temples area. The amenities we're very nice, and the hotel has activities throughout the day. There's a tea ceremony in the afternoon, followed by a free flow beer in the evening, which is ended with a karaoke session, and a free noodle soup at night.

TThe Travel HunterThis was our first time staying in the Gion area, and Hotel the Celestine truly elevated the experience. The atmosphere is calm, elegant and very Kyoto. From check in to departure, everything felt smooth and professionally handled.
The cleanliness was impeccable. The room was thoughtfully arranged with a perfect balance of modern comfort and traditional Japanese touches. Beds were extremely comfortable and the space felt well planned, not cramped like many city hotels.
What makes this hotel special is the location. Stepping outside places you immediately in the charm of old Kyoto. Walking through Gion in the early morning before the crowds arrive was unforgettable.
Service deserves special mention. The team was polite, warm and always ready to assist with genuine hospitality.
A beautiful property for anyone who appreciates quiet luxury in a prime cultural setting. We would gladly stay again.

The room is normal Japanese size, enough for two people but cannot open both 20 inches suitcases at the same time. Cleanliness nothing more to say at this room rate. There has laundry area with few washing machine and dryer but the machine only accept electronic payment , they don’t accept cash and credit card which is reslly not user-friendly for tourists. When I seek the front desk assistance, they told me to go to laundry shop which is 8 mins walking distance. Not far away but we need to carry all the way back and forth. What’s the point of providing laundry service????

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard.
However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements:
1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue.
2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition.
3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience.
4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated.
5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space.
6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering.
In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction.
If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards.

The hotel is just across the street from Kyoto Station, which is super convenient, and there’s a 7-Eleven right next door. The room is relatively small for a family, but still comfortable. Overall, the hotel is very good and we enjoyed our stay.

NnxmdyThis is the second time that I’ve booked here because the last time I came everything was satisfactory. The room was really wide compared to other hotels that I’ve been to in Japan. Not just that, the onsen was clean as always and had yuzu inside this time but maybe it’s because it was winter but I couldn’t see it the next day so that was abit sad. The service was great!! You can check out and still ask them to hold the bag. The only downside I could say was that the walls were slightly stained ?? I think it’s due to the luggage being moved around by other individuals. It’s not too the point that it would bother anyone. But it did catch my eye abit.

PPengguna TetamuTo start with the positives, the hotel was well located and easily accessible using the metro from Kyoto station. The room was a decent enough size and the staff were friendly and helpful.
One major issue we encountered during our stay was the level of humidity in the room. The extractor fan didn't seem to be doing anything to impact moisture in the room, particularly after a warm shower. There was some treated glass above the sink and often this was the only area without moisture well over half an hour after having a shower. (Photos attached) This also meant that towels weren't drying correctly and created an unpleasant environment and ultimately odour in the room. The humidity was so high that the windows were dripping with water consistently and the window sill was actually wet. Additionally the absence of a full wardrobe (just a rail with hangers on) also created challenges when staying for longer than a couple of days and this combined with the humidity made the washing machine almost obsolete.

The only issue was cleanliness, there were to many hair after other guests in our room, and a paper bag under one bad. Looks like it wasn't cleaned well.

DDr.p3pp3rI stayed here in a double room and overall had a pretty good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and both the air conditioning and heater worked very well. One thing that really stood out was the bathroom — the bathtub was much larger than what you usually get in Japan. I’m a tall person, and I could actually sit down and lie back comfortably, which is rare. Most hotel baths feel very small, but this one felt closer to around 1.4m in length, which made having a bath genuinely enjoyable.
The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job — the bed was made every day with fresh sheets. Wi-Fi was also very fast, which was a big plus. Amenities were decent, and you can pick up extra items if you need them.
Check-in is a bit late at 3pm, which I didn’t love, but that’s balanced out by an 11am checkout. Having that extra time in the morning made it feel worth it overall.
I did have a couple of negatives. The strangest one was finding an old sock behind the TV when I arrived. It was very obvious and not hidden, so I’m not sure how it was missed during cleaning. It was a bit gross, but I just left it.
Another downside was the mini fridge — it’s more like a cooler than a real fridge. It keeps drinks from getting warm, but they don’t get properly cold. In summer, this really wouldn’t be good enough. Replacing it with a proper mini fridge would be a big upgrade.
The other major issue was the lift. It is painfully slow, and there’s only one lift for the upper floors. On checkout day, I left my room about 10 minutes before checkout time, and I almost didn’t make it downstairs in time because of how slow it was. That part was honestly pretty ridiculous.
Location-wise, this hotel is excellent. It’s very easy to get to from Kyoto Station — just head south and you’re there in about 4–5 minutes. It’s also very convenient when leaving Kyoto by train.
A tip for using the subway: instead of going back to Kyoto Station, walk right from the hotel to Shijō Station. It’s on the same subway line, you’ll get on before Kyoto Station, and the train is empty — so you’re almost guaranteed a seat and can ride comfortably to your destinations.
For food and shopping, there’s a shopping mall just across the road toward the station with a Don Quijote, McDonald’s, and other options. The hotel is also right next to a Coco Ichibanya curry house, which is fantastic and open late.
Overall, despite a few odd issues, this was a solid stay with a great location, good comfort, and very easy access to transport. I’d happily consider staying here again.

PPengguna TetamuLocation not the best and can find nearer to Kyoto station with same price. The location only good to go Nijojo castle, Toji Temple & Ginkako temple. Nothing much nearby, no night bars only a restaurant opposite it.
The worst was no lift, for a female with 20 kg luggage, I have to carry it for 4 levels up and down all by myself. It’s understandable no space to install lift, but pls consider to install a luggage travel lift.
Layout of the room is very good especially bath and toilet inside the room. Some may not like it cause ppl may back late night to bath and make noises. But I do like the single room layout with small dress up table before the capsule bed.
