Spacious room by Japanese standards. Love that they gave free facial mask to use which can be taken from the reception area. Early check is at 2000jpy per hour which I find reasonable too. Breakfast is western with 5 options to choose from. Will be good if there Japanese selection. Nonetheless, will book this Hotel again if I’m in Tokyo.

Great location, right in the middle of Ginza, close to Matsuya Ginza & Mitsukoshi and other shops as well as restaurants. The hotel has Lawson & Family Mart on site and 7 Eleven at the next building, very convenient. Room despite small (Superior) but still a bit larger compared to other Japanese chain hotels which is normally less than 19 sqm. Staffs are courteous and helpful. We paid quite a good rate from Trip.com

My stay at Shimbashi Kon Hotel was good overall. The only downside is that the hotel is located in a quiet, tucked-away area, which felt a bit scary at first as a solo traveler.
However, the interior is modern and secure, with digital locks for the rooms and even the toilets. Everything was clean and well maintained. I also liked the hot water machine—it was very convenient.
The location is actually quite good, about an 8-minute walk from Shimbashi Station. Overall, I had a comfortable and safe stay.

Very nice hotel and very well located. We really liked the hotel and service. We stayed four nights.
Room itself was super!
Two things that resulted in four stars,
1. Really loud train running until around midnight
2. Prices for breakfast (and other meals) was excessive compared to local restaurants. Restaurants were close, so we avoided hotel restaurants for 3/4 nights.
So just ask if room is on train track side and avoid it and you will like hotel.

Service from the front desk was friendly and helpful, they helped us to store the luggages before the check in time, the room size consider still okay since it is in Ginza, our 28inch luggage still able to be open during the stay. There is 7-11 store opposite the hotel which is a bonus for us and we always drop by the store before return to hotel.

The room was quite spacious compared to typical Japanese hotel rooms, and since the hotel seemed newly renovated, everything felt very clean and modern.
One small downside was that there wasn’t a small table in the room where we could comfortably eat snacks or relax. There was a small corner table, which worked for doing makeup, but the layout wasn’t really convenient for eating.
The bedding and bathroom were both very nice, and the public bath was also modern and clean. However, the water was a bit too shallow, which was slightly disappointing.
Most of the front desk staff were friendly overall, but one male staff member at reception was quite unpleasant. He had a very expressionless attitude and spoke in a way that felt unnecessarily rude and made us feel uncomfortable.
Overall, it was a clean and comfortable stay, but the service experience at the front desk could be improved.

The hotel is within walking distance of Tokyo station, which was convenient. The service was great. The elevator design was pretty cool (see photo). However the room was exceedingly small - we brought 2 big suit cases and were unable to open them up fully (when one suitcase was open, we were unable to open any doors). The double bed was also quite small. Overall I would not book this hotel again because it is just too small and the price is too high for what we get.

Though the room is compact, it is exceptionally clean and thoughtfully designed. A pleasant surprise was the small massage chair in the room, which added a touch of comfort after a long day out. Guest amenities such as toothbrush and comb sets are conveniently available on Level 7, where you can also find a luggage weighing scale — a very practical feature before heading to the airport.
Check-in begins after 2pm and the process was smooth and efficient. The location is very convenient — just a short walk from Tokyo Station. Exit via the Yaesu South side, take Exit 4 escalator up, cross the road, and the hotel is easy to find. It is also within walking distance to Ginza, making it great for shopping and dining. Having the Meidi-Ya supermarket directly opposite the hotel is another plus for quick groceries or snacks.
A simple, comfortable stay in an excellent location.

Incredibly helpful staff members who would go out of their way to help you and they even assisted us forward our luggage from Tokyo to Kyoto at ease. On top of that, the location was rly good as it was just right next to the station. The rooms were a tad bit small but it’s Tokyo after all. Really recommend.

The subway entrance of Higashi Ginza station is nearly right in front to the hotel front door so you can access to several tourist locations near grey line or deep pink line easily. I realized hotel in Tokyo do not have hotpublic bath but this hotel has one!! You can also check how crowded the bath is from your room through TV monitor. The hotel offers Happy Hour service where you can enjoy free flow of sake, wine, beverages and simple snacks like dried fruits and chips from 5pm to 9pm. Hoteliers are all very kind and helping which made overall experience at this hotel incredible!

MmtmlCleaning is chargeable at 1.5k yen per clean. Otherwise no cleaning whatsoever - but they do give you new towels and a trash bag daily (hung on your door knob).
Breakfast is pretty cute and homely - I liked it when I tried it at a different province, so I rebooked dormy inn.
They have a luggage scale at level 2, so very convenient if you have been shopping like crazy. The shopping street around the area is pretty interesting, and I love uneo park.
However, some pretty strange stuff during my stay:
1. They insisted on entering my room for an ”inspection” but didn't specify why. When I called to ask, they said it was a bedframe inspection. As a solo female traveler my preference is not to let random people into my room, especially if they're not going to clean after these external people enter, but reception said they couldn't wait until my stay was over a few days later. When I came back to the room, my blanket was shifted and untucked entirely from one side, and my electronics were moved around.
2. A bug appeared on my sink mirror, so I gave feedback to the hotel staff as mini bugs means there's more bugs, and suggested that they fumigate. They said ”oh... sorry” suddenly all proceeded to look away from me and pretend I didn't exist, which was super weird treatment, and very rude lol. I didn't even ask them to change my room, the point is that these bugs are likely to have infestations, and if I came back in another trip to this hotel, I would not like to see more. They didn't even bother asking me what floor I was on, so 100% they don't seem to have any intention of dealing with this. Very weird and poor behaviour - I think it was too much to expect Onyado Nono service in Dormy Inn, so I don't think I will come back.

The hotel offers a welcome drink available anytime, and there is a separate onsen for men and women. In the evening at 6:00 PM, there is a free happy hour with drinks—perfect for alcohol lovers. My husband really loved it.
The amenities are also of good quality. If I visit Japan again, I would definitely choose to stay here—the price is very reasonable too.

It is very close to 2 metro lines (green and orange) so you can easily reach any place in Tokyo.
There is a non-stop 7/11 at the -1 floor (you can take the elevator and exit through the shop). It has a very easy to use and good exchange rate ATM.
The gym is like the typical hotel gym. Very small and with few dumbbells.

Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel.
The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking.
Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level.
Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch.
Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue.
In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!
