Very pleased with my stay. Hotel kindly upgraded me from a Single Room to a Double Room in low season in November, which is really nice. The room is spacious, with good natural light, double glazed windows and good ventilation/air con/heating. Toilet with stand shower is of a good size as well, not too small and cramped. Hotel location is super close to the central station in Florence, around 5 mins walk only to it, which is very ideal for travellers arriving into Florence by rail. It's slow walkable to pretty much all attractions (within 15-25 mins), so is a good place to base yourself in for a short stay. Similar to many hotels in Italy, there are a few steps at the entrance but there is a lift to get you up to your room. Check-in process is smooth and complimentary breakfast is decent. I especially love the coffee and jucie machine and pancakes offered. It'd be great if besides scrambled eggs, some kind of breakfast meats like sausages can also be offered. They do have some basic cold cuts and cheese and ham as well, yogurt, and cornflakes, it's a more diverse continental breakfast, which is great for a 3 Star Hotel. As the hotel is very close to the Train Station, you do hear trains / trams passing through from the streets, but the noise level is acceptable with the double glazed windows' insulation. I would recommend this hotel for solo travellers.

This is undoubtedly one of the best hostels I have stayed in in Italy and I’ll tell you what happened. Basically I was quite late to check in and checked in only at around 6:45 pm in the evening and initially the room I was offered had only upper beds left and all the lower berths had been occupied. Gaia at the reception was so kind  she actually looked up all the rooms available and suggested after almost looking up for 30 minutes as to where she could place me as I did not want to sleep on an apple bed she gave me another room which was room number 13 and I had originally booked for an eight bedroom but I paid a little bit extra to get into this four bedroom and I was very happy because the room was speaking span. There was ample space and bathroom and toilet was separate which meant it could be used by two people at the same time, conveniently, especially in the mornings when people are in a rush and the plug points were very ideally placed! I loved staying here and even paid €10 for a very fancy breakfast! I’d love to come here again.

The location could not be any better. And the room we had was very nice. Think we got upgraded to a cozy double. We didn't have breakfast as we thought it was a little over priced at 18 euros. The minibar didn't have any prices so we assumed it was free but we were asked if we had anything when we checked out. We lied and said no and got away with it. So if it was meant to be free then massive thanks! If not then you need to put prices on it :)

A fabulous hotel, from the excellent staff to the wonderful facilities and the location. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. Particularly Roberto, Ariana and Simone. The spa is excellent, and although we only used the pool, it was a must after walking in the Florence heat in August! The hotel is a small distance from the old city, but we’d recommend the “members club”, which costs €10 per day per adult (over age 12). The mini trolley only takes 15 minutes-ish into town, and is a great way to get a feel for the city. Pick ups can be arranged at reception. Breakfast was good, and we had one of the adjoining apartments for a family of four. All the rooms and facilities are modern and clean, even if the shower is a bit quirky! Overall we would highly recommend Hotel Grifone. There is a sister hotel to the west of the old town where you are welcome to rest, use WiFi etc etc. Highly recommended.

The front office team is outstanding. Didn't manage to get his name, he was on duty on the night(9/7/2024) we checked in. Extremely patience and fed us with info. Alberto who seems to be the front office manager have been very accommodating. Thank you team. Location is great, steps from Firenze S.M.N and to most tourist spots. Will stay at the property if we visit Florence again.

I loved this quirky old hotel. It is old fashioned in the best possible sense; very well situated close to the train station, the Duomo and the centre of Florence - so a perfect location for shopping and sightseeing. The rooms could do with some refurbishment but are air conditioned, kept very clean, and everything works. Doubles are generous in size, single rooms are small. Breakfast is continental with cheese, ham, muesli, croissants, cake, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and detox water. Most importantly, the staff here were unfailingly courteous and helpful. They really could not do enough for us, from letting me borrow an adapter, to recommending excursions, booking taxis, and accommodating a late check out. There are trendier, more modern hotels in the area, but that is reflected in the price - you get what you pay for.

I enjoy myself staying there. Staffs are very friendly, speak excellent English, and very helpful too. The room are nice and clean. Location is excellent. Will definitely come back again

We stayed for 3 nights in April, the Hotel was clean, convenient, quiet and comfortable. The staff were lovely without exception. Everyone from the front desk to the breakfast staff and room service were friendly and helpful making us feel very welcome. Our room was at the rear of the hotel (204) with a balcony which was a pleasant surprise. The view was nothing special as it overlooked the rear of other properties but it was nice and comfortable and very quite. There is a Spa that you can book for your exclusive use. This is sometimes included in your deal but otherwise is 25 euros each for 50 minutes and well worth it. The view from the roof top is superb and you can get a drink from the reception bar and take it up there or even take your own bottle of wine! Breakfast centres mainly on pastries, fruits and meats. There is a “hot” option of eggs and bacon but is only ever warm at best. However, the pastries are very nice and more than enough available. It also has to be the most convenient trip I have ever experienced from Airport to hotel! Exit the airport turn left and walk to the tram stop about a minute away. Take the T2 tram to UNITA and get off at Rosselli. That’s it!, it takes about 20 minutes and when the t4am leave you will be facing the hotel. It cost 1.50 euros each. You can buy the tickets on the tram platform but I would visit the shop Hudson as others have mentioned on here and get them there as there can be a queue to get your ticket on the platform. Don’t forget to slide it into the machine to validate it when you board. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk for the “Dome” in the centre and about 25 minutes to the bridges on the river. There are some excellent restaurants such as Casa Ciabattini and Osteria Vecchio Cancellous within 6/7 minute walk both of which I would highly recommend. I would not hesitate to return.

A 3* hotel that exceeded my expectations. Well placed next to the SMN railway station, and literally next to the SMN bus station for Siena and other Tuscan town. The hotel is also not that far from the Florence historic centre. There is also a supermarket very close by. I stayed in a single room, no 315, for 2 nights. Although a single it was not very small, as so often in Italy. The bed was also not too narrow for a large person like me, and was comfortable. Bathroom was large, with a bathtub. Towels were soft and fluffy, of good quality. Cleanliness was very good, and maintained so throughout my stay. The wardrobe was large enough, and the safe & minibar were useful. Overall, the hotel is not a new one, with rather old furniture that shows its age, but I like old-fashioned hotels so it was fine for me. Breakfast was very good, and the service at breakfast was excellent, which is so rare nowadays, even in high star hotels, kudos to the tall Italian guy running the breakfast room from the bar. Also of great help was the young lady from the reception, always helping efficiently, kindly, with a smile. Walls are paper-thin, you can hear everything from the adjoining rooms. It was not warm enough in my room, the AC showed it was working towards 22 degrees, but in fact in was not, and temperature stayed at 19 degrees, which was uncomfortable for me. TV was very small.

I had problems trying to find a hotel in Florence at short notice and ended up booking a room at this hotel. First I should explain that this hotel is on the second and third floor of a building. I was given a room by the stairs, which by the way are made of wood I think, so the noise of people going up and down was terrible. There is a lift, but it will only take you from the ground floor to the reception, so if you have a suitcase and you are given a room on the third floor, you have to drag it up the stairs, near to where my room was. My room was big enough, with 2 single beds, and a bathroom almost the same side of the room, painted in red! and very dark, even with the light on. The room and bathroom were clean and my linen and towels were changed every day. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice, eggs, cereal, fresh fruit, cheese, cold meat, etc. Unfortunately the reception area was dirty. There are 2 or 3 settees with a material cover, which has not been washed for some time. The location of this hotel is excellent. 15 mns to the Duomo and 30 mns to the Ponte Vecchio. The guys at the reception were very helpful, polite and one of them, on the night shift, (regrettably I did not ask his name) never stopped smiling. Great service. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes but make sure you are giving a room away from the stairs.

Perfect location by the river. Short walk to everything! A bit dated (and the beds could defenately be better), but with tons of charm and old history. Almost like a museum in its self. If i ever should come back to Pisa, i would love to stay at this hotel again.

Located right across the train station. Best for travellers like us traveling from city to city just needed a corner to lay down our stuffs the moment we arrive at the city. Pisa is a small city. Everything can be done by bus. Highly recommended for its price and location.

Basic but pleasant. Few damages in room and not perfectly clean but fine for one night and well priced for what it is. Bed was comfy. Wifi didn’t work though. Staff were pleasant, helpful and polite. Breakfast was great.

Access is via a galleria and sadly dilapidated as some units are empty. However once through the doors, everything is as it should be. Friendly and helpful, English speaking staff. The hotel is literally 2 minutes from the main station and although that means that it is the opposite side of town from the Leaning Tower, no distances in Pisa are that large. We had one outstanding breakfast and had to leave too early to get a second. However we should have accepted the offer of a packed breakfast as Pisa airport had little to offer and at higher cost. Once you have done the Cathedral, Leaning Tower, etc. then a walk on the city walls is highly to be recommended. If you have time walk the full 3km.

The service is excellent and the staff are super friendly and patient. They help us to print boarding pass and call taxi to the airport. However, the room is small, which doesn’t fit the standard of a 4-star hotel. It takes a 20mins walk to pisa tower which is okay.

Fed up with the ever rising prices and declining standards of the NH we decided to give this hotel a go. The street - Christofero Columbo - wasn’t very salubrious but then the area around the station isn’t that great.It was like stepping back into time -back to the hotels we visited in the late 1980s. Old fashioned carpet and big clunky key ring rather than a key card. The room was marvellous- a safe, a modern bathroom with lots of fluffy towels, a tv and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The manager recommended a trattoria to us and it was marvellous- so unlike the dreadful restaurants we’ve been putting up with in Pisa over the last few years. When we came back after supper we were able to have a nightcap at the bar and this was so welcome compared to the NH where there is a soulless vending machine selling bottles rather than glasses. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb and the coffee made fresh at the bar (not in a machine) was wonderful. The room we had was quiet and there was no nighttime disturbance despite the proximity of the station. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel, the friendly staff and the superb breakfast.

We enjoyed our one night stay. The room was spacious and well designed, with sockets by the bed as well as built into the table. The bathroom had several hooks for clothes/towels. Breakfast had a good selection, though not many hot options. Convenient shuttle to the airport ruins every half an hour and costs just €5 per person. Overall we felt it was good value for money.

Great location next to the main square. Good selection of breakfast. Roof top bar has amazing views. Rooms are dated and need looking at for example sink doesn’t drain, loads of chips and marks. Good little window. Was able to check in early and leave my bag after I checked out to explore the city. Would recommend anyone who wants a hotel in the city with breakfast and don’t mind the dated rooms. Would definitely book again.

It was only a short trip of two days in Pisa before moving on to Palermo. My first time in Pisa. So we tried to book a cheap hotel room there because we would be out exploring the area and only needed a place to sleep. Pros: The Hotel IL Giardino is situated behind the historic retaining wall of the Piazza dei Miracoli. It's only 5 minutes on foot from the hotel to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, only half a minute walking before you can see the tower. The bed was fairly comfortable and there was a little fridge in my room. The hotel feels safe and has suitable door locking systems. The staff are friendly and kind. The roof terrace is quiet and cozy. Cons: Unfortunately my room doesn't have windows, only a skylight that couldn't be opened. The only fresh air was exclusively from the air conditioner. No lamp on the bedside table. Warm water in the shower doesn't come until after 5 minutes and with low pressure. The room door lock is very loud when opening and closing, especially at night when the people are asleep, also impossible to close door quietly and a loud beeping when the key card is used. The walls are poorly soundproofed. There is a little bar inside, but it was closed over the whole time we stayed there. My travel partner moved into the room opposite to mine. His room was a little better, a bedside lamp, better partitioning of the room, but also no windows in the walls. Really annoying: I paid the same as my travel partner for a different state of quality and comfort. Summary: The Hotel Il Giardino has allegedly better and more comfortable rooms in the premises. If you are traveling through and stay for a night or two, and you don't want to really reside there, this kind of room may a solution - if you don't have claustrophobia. But: the value for money is bad. It is relatively expensive, because of the famous sights there. + clean house and clean rooms + close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa + secure room door locks + fairly comfortable bed + little fridge in the room + air conditioner in single room + nice rooftop terrace + nice staff - no windows inside - no possibility to open the single skylight - no fresh air from windows possible - cold to tepid water temparature in the shower - claustrophobic ambience - slightly poor soundproofed walls - very loud door lock - low value for money

I'm not sure why this place has bad reviews. I was hesitant to book because of that, but I'm glad I chose this place. It's literally right next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and a lot of great restaurants. It's worth a nights stay considering the price is much less than many other places in Pisa and it's hard to beat the location. There is parking relatively near by for a fee. The place may be dated, but it's a bed with nice air condition and you can do all you need just a few steps from the door. I highly recommend it and would return in the future. There's an elevator as well, which in Europe seems to be a luxury.

Really annoying: I paid the same as my travel partner for a different state of quality and comfort. Summary: The Hotel Il Giardino has allegedly better and more comfortable rooms in the premises. If you are traveling through and stay for a night or two, and you don't want to really reside there, this kind of room may a solution - if you don't have claustrophobia. But: the value for money is bad. It is relatively expensive, because of the famous sights there. + clean house and clean rooms + close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa + secure room door locks + fairly comfortable bed + little fridge in the room + air conditioner in single room + nice rooftop terrace + nice staff - no windows inside - no possibility to open the single skylight - no fresh air from windows possible - cold to tepid water temparature in the shower - claustrophobic ambience - slightly poor soundproofed walls - very loud door lock - low value for money

I'm not sure why this place has bad reviews. I was hesitant to book because of that, but I'm glad I chose this place. It's literally right next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and a lot of great restaurants. It's worth a nights stay considering the price is much less than many other places in Pisa and it's hard to beat the location. There is parking relatively near by for a fee. The place may be dated, but it's a bed with nice air condition and you can do all you need just a few steps from the door. I highly recommend it and would return in the future. There's an elevator as well, which in Europe seems to be a luxury.
