Hotel 4-Bintang di Daerah Viseu, Portugal

The lobby area looks very nice but the hotel grounds is under renovation and the dust and noise carry inside the hotel. The rooms need renovation. Our room on the 2nd floor was dark, the AC did not work and the bathroom weathered with little water pressure in the shower. Buffet breakfast offered many selections and was ok.

Hotel Avenida is a 4-star boutique hotel right on the Praca da Republica in the center of Viseu. The hotel staff was warm welcoming and helpful (happily taking our bags in the morning before check in so we could explore the city). English and some other languages are spoken if needed. The room was delighful; spotlessly clean and enormous (although I must note that we did get a deluxe double). The bed was clean and comfortable (if a bit on the firm side). The bathroom had a fantastic shower and a new modern tub big enough for a swim (ok, maybe not, but still very big!). In spite of being right in the center of town, the room was quiet and the electric shades worked perfectly. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, especially the fruit and pastries. The hot food selection was a bit sparse, but the selection was hot and kept stocked. We highly recommend this hotel fo visitors to Viseu.

For the most part, we enjoyed our stay at Delfim Douro. The setting, view, indoor and outdoor common spaces are quite lovely. The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast had a lot of variety and quality was good. We had dinner at the restaurant one evening and the dishes were bland and prawns were mushy--not good at all. We had a room on the -3 (ground) floor with a patio and two chairs, which was nice. As others have mentioned, the open concept bathroom is terrible. Who likes that? What designer thinks that kind of intimacy is appealing? I missed the comments prior to making the reservation, otherwise we probably would have chosen to stay elsewhere. Also, there were some plug in air ”fresheners” in the hall on our floor that were really atrocious, and we had to hold our noses to and from the elevator. A small thing, but unpleasant. All in all, we liked the hotel, and if they put some doors on the lieu, we would consider staying again.

The staff is super friendly and are always there with a smile. It is a beautiful view but not as that beautiful if compared to other wineries in the region but the hotel and room size/amenities are just perfect. My only recommendation is that the breakfast/dining room since they are the same (which is okay) but the furniture/decoration should be a little bit more fancy to offer a better dining experience (for the dinner) as how it is, it is making it to look a little cheap. But overall it was a great stay.

Spacious room overlooking the Douro River. No air conditioning the night we stayed because they said it was cold and raining and only the heat is available. The receptionist at check in was not very friendly or accommodating. She acted like it was a lot of trouble for her to arrange a wine tasting tour for us. The restaurant was deafening loud during dinner because there were a couple of tour groups. I would not recommend shrimp risotto.

L'emplacement de l'hôtel est super pour se reposer, dommage qu'on ne voit pas le Douro. Le service est très bien mais très long le weekend. Tout était impeccable et surtout la piscine. Le Spa est aussi très agréable et nous avons profité de la salle de sport. Le personnel est très gentil. C'est sûr, nous réservons à nouveau.

We want to take a moment to express our sincere appreciation for the unforgettable experience we had at Ventozelo Hotel & Qunita. Our stay at this working farm and wine hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The hotel offers its guests wine tasting tours, boat tours down the Douro Valley, and other excursions on the 400-acre farm. It was a wonderful surprise when we were escorted to our room or should I say mini apartment in its own building. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. From the beautifully appointed room to the delicious food, every aspect of our stay was perfect. The room was impeccable, and the amenities were top-notch. The pool with its amazing views was a wonderful treat. I would also like to commend your staff for their exceptional service, particularly the restaurant staff who went beyond to help us with all our needs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overall, our experience at Ventozelo Hotel & Qunita exceeded our expectations, and we will be recommending the hotel to our colleagues, friends, and family. Very strange to find such a good hotel in one of the most depressing and rundown villages we've been to for quite some time. Everything about the hotel was very, very good.....The room, the spa, the staff and especially the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast were all way more than just OK. Clean, bright and modern. But the surrounding area seemed to be full of run down and derelict houses and what used to be hotels from the days when ' taking the waters ' was the fashion. Having said that, we enjoyed our one night stay enormously and would happily go back to stay next time we're in Resende.

De locatie van het hotel is geweldig. Gelegen in een vallei aan de Douro met een fantastisch zicht. Het hotel is zeer rustig gelegen, een beetje geïsoleerd zelfs. De aankomst was goed, we kregen een warm welkom. Het personeel van het ganse hotel was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Onze dochter van 12 had een volwaardig 3de bed, geen kampeer- of uitvouwbedje. Dat hebben we ten zeerste geapprecieerd. Het ontbijt was zeer uitgebreid (buffetvorm) en van goede kwaliteit. De laatste avond werd ons gemeld dat er erg weinig gasten in het hotel verbleven en of we het ok vonden om een ontbijt à-la-carte te kiezen om op deze manier verspilling tegen te gaan. Het gemeenschappelijke terras naast het zwembad was heel aangenaam, met loungezeteltjes. Er was ook mogelijkheid om buiten te eten (zowel voor ontbijt als voor lunch en diner). We hebben 2x in het hotel gedineerd. De kaart was klein van keuze, maar was wel lekker. Wat we minder vonden: - De hotelkamer was aan de kleine kant. - We vonden het jammer dat er geen balkon was, zodat we 's avonds nog van het mooie zicht konden genieten. - Het zwembad was niet verwarmd. Maar het mooie zicht maakte veel goed. - De uitrusting van de badkamer was een beetje passé. - Weinig parkeermogelijkheid door de naastgelegen watersportclub.

Relativamente ao preço, o valor apresentado pela Trip foi extremamente competitivo em relação às restantes agências para as mesmas condições de serviço, e mesmo em relação ao preço que seria cobrado pelo próprio Hotel em reserva directa (o que não consigo compreender...). O pequeno-almoço disponibilizado foi de excelente qualidade e em quantidade. O atendimento foi excelente sendo todos os colaboradores em serviço no hotel nesses 2 dias de uma simpatia e eficiência muito acima da média. No entanto, fiquei um pouco decepcionado por a agência Trip, porque até agora, ainda não me ter enviado a Fatura relativamente ao valor pago. A única certeza de que tenho que o pagamento foi efectuado, foi-me dada pelo recepcionista do Hotel que me disse que os quartos estavam pagos, mas que não me podia passar uma Factura pois o pagamento tinha sido efectuado à Agência - o que é natural!). Nesta situação a falta de Factura foi muito desagradável porque reservei e paguei 3 quartos (para nós e para mais 2 casais amigos) e até agora não tenho nenhum comprovativo de pagamento para ”fazer as contas” com eles.

Ubicación genial, a un paso del centro histórico. Habitación muy cómoda y bien decorada. Piscina muy agradable, aunque por la tarde está a la sombra. Buen aparcamiento exterior. Personal amable. A mejorar: el desayuno. El café es malísimo, imperdonable en Portugal y en un establecimiento de este nivel.

La peculiaridad que tiene Viseu es que te encuentras a una distancia razonable en todas direcciones de Guarda, Aveiro, Lamego y Coimbra. Un poquito más de una hora de Oporto y Vila Real; por lo que aparte de ser una ciudad preciosa es ideal para moverte en coche y visitar toda esta zona de Portugal. El hotel está muy cerca de la catedral y es una maravilla, de hecho tiene unos salones dignos de un hotel de cinco estrellas; sin embargo las habitaciones son funcionales, de un hotel de ciudad (con todo lo necesario). Muy limpio y cómodo. El primer día te puede ser difícil llegar a él, pero uno vez que te sabes el camino es fácil, tienen parking privado gratuito, pero es muy pequeño, no obstante de no poder dejarlo (que no suele ser el caso) es fácil por alrededor). Carece de piscina y el desayuno es bueno. La calidad precio también es buena y el personal muy amable, eso sí, muy tranquilo, no se sofocan; algo que tengo que decir que también viene bien, por lo estresados que vivimos.

Charming hotel in Portuguese wine country. The big advantage to this hotel (over the wine quintas and some other lovely looking hotels on the outskirts) is that this place is right in the middle of town - within easy walking distance of the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios and other historic sights. So, when you've finished going port wine tasting all day (very nearby, but you really need a car for the gorgeous drive along the Douro and up and down the hills to tasting sites and quintas) you have a beautiful, historic town to walk around. The stand at the Castelo Signature was amazing - can't say enough about how helpful they were. VERY affordable, even the room we got with a terrace overlooking the town and the Sanctuary. Rooms lovely, not luxurious but very nice. Bathrobes and slippers. They have an on-site little cafe/bar, with an outdoor area as well by the pool. There's a spa area that looked nice when we were shown it, but we were too busy wine-tasting to use it. The free breakfast is amazing; they made us omelets and there were great pasties, breads, meats, cheeses, fruits, etc. The BEST thing about this hotel is arguably the restaurant, which I wold not be surprised to earn a Michelin star one day. My husband had the veal kebab and rice; I had a shrimp risotto that was spectacular. Incredibly, with this gourmet meal, including dessert and a bottle of one of the nicer wins, was just 76 Euros. One last thing - Lamego is an overlooked gem in the region. People stay at quintas, which are nice but limiting, or maybe in Paso de Regua or Pinhao (absolutely nothing to do, nowhere special to eat). Or they day-trip from Porto. Lamego is worth a trip on its own, and you then can be more leisurely about your wine-tasting expeditions. I firmly believe the Douro valley will be Tuscany in a decade, and Lamego will be at the center of it.
