I practically live in D.R. half of the year so this will be very different than most. When I am there I cherish the ”authentic” experiences (including the less sought after factors). It keeps me balanced. THIS PLACE HAS IT. Nothing I can stand more than a ”tourist” resort that over-compensates and compromises the natural culture. This place is not as High-End but it is more laid back and less uptight. That being said you get a better value and also get to see what the country is like in reality (to an extent). We needed a break from the monotony so we stayed a few days to relax. The beach is relaxing and pristine. We went during a down time so there were more locals doing daily routines. The food was better than expected for the value of the price but the menu was not as expansive as other high-end resorts. Over-all we like the place a lot.

Currently staying here now, me and my partner arrived just yesterday. We had to wait a while to check in everyone behind the reception counter was just looking at us not wanting to help which delayed the check in process. After a long flight from the uk this isn't something you want. The hotel is beautiful and we cannot fault the hotel for its cleanliness and beautiful grounds. The only thing letting this hotel down is the very unfriendly staff. We haven't came across a friendly member of staff yet!! No one wants to help! The bar staff just nod their head at you instead of asking what we would like to order. I ordered an iced coffee this morning from the coffee bar and I asked for some more milk in my coffee, she tipped half the coffee away and poured a whole load of warm milk into the iced coffee…. As you can imagine this was vile and no longer iced or even coffee 😭
