PPengguna TetamuFantastic location. Sauna is available to book for free for private use. The best thing was the massage - it was really good. The only issue was the air condition which was changed to heating during the time we visited (summer transitioning to autumn) so it was a little warm at night. Unless you took the garden facing room, the road/ trams noises will be uncomfortable to leave the windows open through the night. Having said, the staff service were good.

HHowtowinthelotteryLocated about 15-20 minutes walk from the central bus station or about 5 minutes via taxi. A mix of tram and walking would take you 15-20 minutes.
Surrounded by a pizza takeaway, coffee shop, bakery and mini mart.
About 20 minutes walk to the main town centre or take the tram just outside the hotel. You can take a taxi which is generally outside.
The surrounding area is safe but looks a bit run down because of graffiti.
The hotel reception is immaculate. Customer service is really good and you can leave your bag if you check in early (3pm check in). The first floor has a pool (free), limited gym (free) and spa (paid). Restaurant and bar at the ground floor.
The room is immaculate but looks a bit dated. King size bed is very comfortable and a bonus. Blankets are comfortable and weighted. Air conditioning is strong but a bit loud.
Kettle, free coffee/tea, complimentary waters, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, robes/slippers, and towels available.
Shower is strong with two different heads. The shower sprays everywhere on the outside floor due to a poor glass shower curtain.
Noise? Rather quiet but can hear noisy people shouting in the corridor.
TV is old and dated.
Plugs on both sides of the bed (European style).
Overall, a decent hotel for the price.

PPengguna TetamuOne Rude Staff Member Ruined an Otherwise Decent Stay
I stayed at Esplanade Zagreb Hotel with high expectations given its historic prestige, but one employee’s unprofessional behavior significantly tarnished my experience.
Upon arrival, I mistakenly entered the hotel’s parking area as the parking gate opened. After realizing the error, I proceeded to the lobby, completed check-in, and moved my car to the designated drop-off zone for valet service. At this point, a parking attendant aggressively confronted me—hands on hips, speaking in a condescending tone, and demanding how I’d accessed the area. His demeanor was more suited to scolding a trespasser than addressing a paying guest.
To be fair, the front desk and concierge staff were perfectly polite and efficient. Had I not encountered this particular employee, my overall impression would have been positive. But for a hotel branding itself as a luxury establishment, even one hostile interaction is unacceptable. A guest’s entire perception can be undone by a single moment of poor service.
The incident casts doubt on the hotel’s training standards. Why does such a disparity in staff attitudes exist? I hope management addresses this, as no amount of century-old tradition excuses rudeness. Until then, I’d hesitate to return or recommend Esplanade Zagreb without caution.

The pool and the gym are both great, the breakfast had a vast selection and was delicious but the best part of this hotel was the excellence service of all staff. Not a single staff member was not exceptional. It is worthy to point out that it may not be optimal to stay here with a baby (which we did) as the hotel has many lights, loud-ish music and smells of strong perfume - things that do not bother the average person but makes it a bit stressful with a baby. Nevertheless, definitely a recommendation! It is also a 20 mins walk away from the city Center, that’s something one should be aware of as well.

AAnton26In need of refurbishment from a cosmetic perspective, as the carpet in my hotel room was worn and tired. No body wash and had to ring housekeeping for refill… perhaps this should be checked regularly with cleaning. Cannot fault the care demonstrated towards guests and breakfast quality. A grand old lady of Zagreb that will always draw me to her. Fantastic location. Highly recommended.

PPengguna TetamuFirst things I like to express my appreciation to Toni at front desk who's very friendly welcoming my first day check in and helping me when I have problem with rental car. He really put his effort making so many calls when the rental car didn't response well, but finally all problem solved. And he sent his regard throe his friend at front desk on my second check in after 7 days traveling to Split and Dubrovnik, his name also Tony and he also very friendly.
Thanks to both of you Toni & Tony ( I hope I didn't wrong spelling your name )
It's highly recommend for all type of traveler, the room is very quite, I can't hear anything from next room or outside, sleep like a baby. I love the spacious shower room and all luxury amenities. If not mistaken I think this is a brand new hotel.
Since i drive a car, for me location is not important, 8 minutes drive to the old town, not too far. I like the neighborhood is so quite.
Breakfast has many menus and tasty too.
Overall is perfect , one thing I don't like is the dimming lights.
If they have a brighter light, I will be so happy.

Would I return there? Not sure. This is due to lack of amenities that I have never seen missing from other hostels:
- 1 bathroom per floor, the bathroom is shared between 3 rooms of 4; 12 people at 1 bathroom is a bad idea.
- sockets, sockets, sockets. The beds does not have a socket, there are 2 of them randomly located in the room but other hostels I have been in had bed and own socket which should be standard.
- no curtains for the beds, no privacy
- no light in the bed, like a small lamp that everyone can use if others are sleeping.
Clean hostel but the lack of these amenities is disappointing.

TThanis T.The hotel is clean and basic amenities are provided. Reasonable with the price. Since I rely a lot on walking, the location is neither good nor bad. It was 2.5 km from the city center but since it is spring, the walk is really enjoyable.
