Hotel berhampiran Emmeotto Arte, Rome

坦白説這個房間是我住酒店以來最糟糕的體驗。不是旅遊旺季，這麼貴的價格住到這麼小的可憐的房間真的讓人很失望，何況他還不在景區內。如果不是早餐還比較可口，真的要給差評。服務人員的態度倒是還可以。衞生是乾淨的！

With the expectation that this is a guest house (not a hotel), we were duly impressed with the amenities and cleanliness of this place. It is ideally located at Piazza Barberini (next to Metro stop, by the Triton fountain, and across the street from pick up of Rome hop-on/ hop-off bus), with a cafe across the street and several restaurants, pharmacy, bank nearby. It is about a 10-15 leisurely walk to Trevi Fountain, so location is attractive for tourists like us. We travelled as a family (2 adults, 1 child) and we were assigned a triple room overlooking the courtyard (very quiet at night, even for my husband who is a light sleeper). The central air conditioning was amazing, especially in the summer heat. The housekeeping is exceptionally prompt ( we would return after lunch for a siesta and the beds are made, bathroom cleaned, fresh towels available). While they don’t have breakfast onsite at this time, we are able to buy breakfast vouchers for 3 euros for the cafe across the street (this is the discounted rate since the same breakfast is €4.50 without a voucher). This was a quick breakfast type: cappuccino and a cornetto (croissant with Nutella or jam). If you want an American breakfast, that is also available at said cafe. Prior to check-out, the front desk arranged for our airport transfer (€65 van pick up). Alternatively, folks can walk to the taxi stand across the street (€50 standard tariff for airport drop off by taxis) but we had someone with mobility issues so pickup in front of the guest house was ideal. Other amenities included basic soap and body wash, in-room safe, water bottles when we first arrived and small refrigerator inside our room. There is also a vending machine near the front desk for additional water/juice and coffee vending machine (you will need coins- it was maybe 85 cents for a small coffee). There is a nearby PAM grocery we frequented for bottled water and other supplies. Overall, a memorable stay and we hope to back again soon.

Siamo stati qui per il ponte del primo maggio, avevamo dei coupon per tre notti che prevedevano comunque una maggiorazione per questo periodo, e non ci aspettavamo ovviamente il lusso, ma sono rimasta delusa da alcuni aspetti e scrivo questa recensione in modo un po’ combattuto. Sui punti a favore sicuramente la posizione , ottima per i mezzi, si raggiungono facilmente la metro e gli autobus, come come la stazione, e una volta imparate le strade anche il centro o i principali monumenti non sono poi così distanti a piedi (dai 10 minuti ai 20). In hotel sono anche stati cosi gentili da tenerci i bagagli anche dopo il check out, perché avevamo il treno nel tardo pomeriggio, in modo da non girare tutto il giorno con lo zaino in spalla. La camera ok, pulita e grande il giusto, solo il bagno un po’ piccolino e senza bidet, ma per pochi giorni ci si può accontentare. La delusione riguarda i servizi. All’accoglienza abbiamo aspettato fuori dalla porta 20 minuti perché non funzionava il campanello e ho dovuto chiamare al telefono più volte. Il manager non si è mai visto se non al check out e in hotel non trovavamo quasi mai nessuno.. prima delle 9 e dalle 15 non c’è anima viva… non abbiamo ricevuto informazioni o suggerimenti in merito a spostamenti, posti eventualmente da visitare o dove mangiare, o su eventi.. nessuna indicazione pratica… in realtà ci siamo sentiti abbastanza abbandonati a noi stessi…. Unico suggerimento un bar per fare colazione l’ultimo giorno e tra i più cari della città…. La biancheria in camera veniva cambiata solo su richiesta…. Zero convenzioni con bar e ristoranti, ed essendo un bed &breakfast potrebbe essere utile.. inoltre Roma è una città indubbiamente grande e non si può pretendere di raggiungere tutto in pochi minuti a piedi, ma una volta imparate scorciatoie e strade giuste ci si sposta anche abbastanza rapidamente, basterebbe magari prendere una strada a destra piuttosto che a sinistra… peccato che noi lo abbiamo capito solo l’ultimo giorno… avessimo avuto più indicazioni forse ci saremmo evitati tanti km inutili….. e avremmo visto più cose…. Detto questo, rimane una buona soluzione per la posizione ma la cura del cliente è decisamente da rivedere per questo ritengo i prezzi un po’ sopra le righe…

Had low expectations after reading reviews, but the accom was fine and good value for money. Location meant I could walk to practically all the sights, and still make connecting trains/flights with minimal hassle. Bathroom was roomy and included some shampoo etc. Mini fridge was cold and kept my Tim-Tams from melting any further (Australians, amirite). Bed was comfy, and clean. Aircon was kinda the little aircon that couldn’t, but the white noise from it doing its darnedest helped block out the street sound (which wasn’t that bad anyway considering location). The continental brekky in the morning was nothing extravagant but I did have about 5 bowls of really yummy muesli and 5 cups of OJ so I was pretty happy. Obviously niche travellers will read that and book straight away. Also the restaurants nearby are good, had a ripper pizza from across the road one night. Other guests in the hotel were friendly, as was the concierge when checking out. First fella when checking in seemed a bit unhappy to have customers, a la Bernard Black. All in all I’d stay again.

The best thing about Giglio is it’s location. You can never ask for a better location than this. Exactly three minutes walk from Termini Station, it is surrounded by nice out sitting restaurants, a small super store that also have reasonably priced Italian wine and some of the tourist attractions at walkable distance. Collosium is approximately 1.5 kms from here. Though there are buses (number H) from Termini but I will advise to take a cab because the tourists pickpocketing is so rampant that it is really a menace (we saw an American man and his wife literally crying as they were robbed of their wallet which had his all credit cards). However, let’s come back to the hotel Giglio. If you fancy a hotel with a large balcony or big windows then you must look some other property. But if you are a genuine tourist who wants value for money, centrally located just go for this place. Our room was on fifth floor and our A/C was set at 26 degrees Celsius. There was no remote in the room. I spoke to reception and Mr Rauf came rushing upstairs, brought a remote and set the temperature as we wanted. Though we were only two people we were given a room fit for four people. The bathroom was really spacious. They don’t provide a lot of toiletries but good enough to shower. I have had breakfast at various expensive hotels in Rome, Florance and Siena but the breakfast provided at Giglio was much better than most. I must also add that the very kind girl at the breakfast service named Safia was just an Angel for us. She is soft spoken, very oriented towards customers and one who looks for solutions. We wanted vegetarian breakfast and she got us cheese tomato sandwiches because everything else had meat. Overall this is a great hotel because it gives you best value for money, it’s location and its kind staff.

The hotel was conveniently located 5-min from Termini train station and the FCO airport shuttle bus and hop on hop off bus stops just across. We stayed 2 times during our 2 week stay in Rome - over night stay before heading down to Civitavecchia Port for MSC cruise and 4 night stay upon return from the cruise ship. We used the hotel storage service for one of our luggage bags for a week during our 7-day cruise. The hotel staffs were friendly.

Sono certa che ognuno di noi abbia la propria scala di fattori per valutare se un posto e' bello o brutto ma che siano le persone il valore aggiunto. In questo hotel pulito, carino e molto comodo , vicino alla stazione di Roma Termini sono proprio le persone che fanno di un piccolo hotel, un punto di riferimento per i nostri viaggi a Roma. Paola della reception e' stata, ed è, la persona che ci ha seguito in fase di prenotazione e che si è fatta in quattro per aiutarci a proiettare le nostre fotografie su una parete, di una saletta allestita solamente per noi, un gruppetto di fotografi arrivati in città per un corso di fotografia di due giorni. Our stay at the Hotel Archimediocre was strange to say the least. The hallways and common areas were fairly nice, and the breakfast was okay. However the rooms were a rather different story. Our room was shared between three, and two of the beds were pushed up against each other so we had to essentially share a bed. The sheets and towels were unclean and there was hair all over them, suggesting they hadn’t been cleaned properly. My sheets also had holes in them. The shower was inconvenient, as there was no shower curtain and no plug, so we had to take showers sitting down in the bath (which was stained). The privacy was limited. Our window looked out onto a utility area which was very dirty. The utility area also seemed to be used as a smoking spot for the staff. However, since the window was not airtight, the smell of cigarettes filled our room frequently. What’s more, our blinds didn’t close all the way and we saw the staff looking into our room through the window several times. Our friend’s door handle fell off the door too, which made opening and closing the room difficult. The air conditioning was functional, however it made our room smell disgusting. Since our trip was in the spring this was not too much of an issue, but had we travelled a few months earlier this would have been another story. The staff were not unkind but neither were they overly warm. However, the location of the hotel was good, and our stay overall was not too bad.

Clean, comfortable, spacious room. Many & varied breakfast options. Comfortable air conditioned lounge downstairs off lobby. Proximity to bus, train, restaurants, mini markets and laundry (10 euro W&D) was excellent for 5 days in Rome. Disappointing check-in experience was had and witnessed twice, but fortunately this was the only blight on our stay.

Lots of on site parking. Laundry service recommended across the hotel were amazing and friendly. Room was very small though. Blow dryer didn’t work. Not enough bench space in the bathroom. Overall cleanliness was great. The fridge was nice and cold. Although they don’t have a stocked fridge and you would have to go down to get bottled water. Variety of breakfast choices. Drinks were okay and coffee was from an instant coffee machine which was okay. Staff weren’t around often to ask for fresh coffee. Front concierge were friendly though and very helpful.
