I had an amazing stay! Mrs. Whitelaw is so sweet and always ready to help! The room was super clean and very nice for the price. There was a very nice complimentary breakfast as well with fruits, yogurts, various cereals, and more. She also has the sweetest dog and was so happy to see her! Also, felt totally safe as a solo female traveler and was a quick 20-30 min taxi ride to the Edinburgh airport.

From the outsid it looks pretty ordninary. And it is a bit dated and deflected inside. However it has an old world charm if you like that style the rooms are big and spacious

The hotel was nice. We arrived on a Friday evening when there was a huge event taking place at the house. Check-in was quick and easy. Rooms were clean just a bit warm. Fortunately, we had a fan in the room. Beds were very comfy. Dinner at the restaurant was ok, nothing fancy but fine for the price. However, staff is in dire need of training. Not one single waitress/waiter was able to smile. They spoke very fast and slurred and we had to wave them to come back for further orders. When we ordered the bill, something went wrong with the card and they just walked away, mumbling something we could not understand. After 10 minutes they still did not get back to us so we had to catch them at the bar in order to clarify what happened. Turned out the card was declined and they did not make any efforts in letting us know. Which left us with a very strange feeling. Breakfast was the same, staff was not able to smile or at least look friendly. It all felt like it was a shame that they had to work. Not sure what the reason is for that as they treated all guests the same way. The next morning we were sitting in the breakfast area with the sun blinding us so we asked them to pull down the blinds but they told us they were just facade. Breakfast buffet was very poor: Kellogs cereal bags (the small ones) 3 bananas, 2 old apples and some grapes.

I had my wedding dinner and reception in the lodge function room and I cannot thank the staff enough for being so accommodating. The whole night went so smoothly apart from one little hiccup when my child hurt his head and the staff ran to the rescue, something else I cannot thank them enough for. The food had raving reviews from my guests and the buffet was delicious, the drinks had raving reviews also and a few of my guests said they've never met such accommodating staff. Overall, a fabulous place for a fabulous night with great food and amazing staff. We also had family and friends stay in the hotel, beds are very comfortable, rooms are very clean and fresh, such a pleasant place to stay! To Ashley and Karensa, I cannot thank you enough for all the help you gave me to help make my night stress free, you girls are absolutely amazing! To anyone who is planning a low budget wedding party, I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat! 10/10! Amanda Forsyth.
