The location is perfect, out in the country, very quiet and tranquil with beautiful views from the balconies. The rooms are large and satisfactory for a 3 star. But, there are problems. Wi-Fi doesn't work reliably in the rooms. The hotel is beginning to look a bit run-down and needs reinvestment, furniture in the rooms is worn. There was only one employee in the whole hotel to serve customers. The food in the dining room (dinner) is HORRIBLE - whoever is cooking is not a chef, avoid eating in the dining room at all costs. For an overnight stay, or a longer stay the rooms are fine. Just find somewhere else to eat.

Quite basic rooms. Only breakfast was available which was not written in description. Bar closed at 6.30pm but sometimes was much earlier, no where to get refreshments or hot drinks/water/ice..we had to keep asking reception. Rooms have no fridges to store shop brought food/drinks. Travelling with a diabetic this was not ideal and affected sugar levels. No entertainment in the evening although this was also stated in description. Not very helpful staff (maybe due to language barrier) very nice local food spots & bars. Not much to do locally and have to travel far. From Lisbon airport this hotel is 2.5 hours drive. I'd advice renting a car as taxi journeys are expensive for such long journeys. Some outside restaurants close on some days or at 7pm. The area is lovely, very friendly people. Lots of historical things to do and see. Beautiful little town. Great food spots. Bigger Pool close by very cheap for the day, good for kids & very clean. No option for late check out as flight is in the evening so bare that in mind when booking.

Lovely old hilltop house with really friendly and helpful owners, although they don’t speak much English so conversing is tricky! Beautifully looked after and clean with a large lounge area which you can use to relax and a terrace overlooking the valley, what a view! We received a welcome glass of port and the breakfast was substantial and delicious. Parking is outside the house and requires nerves of steel to navigate the narrow cobbled lanes around the inside of the walls to the top! It’s very near the castle which is well worth exploring and has nice gardens for a picnic. You can explore the whole town on foot and a day is more than enough so if you stay 2 nights you have time to relax. There are a few restaurants and cafes in the area but some of them get booked up so it’s worth reserving. Marvao is not as much off the beaten track as the guide books would have you believe. My only gripes are that (1) the house is quite echoey inside and people coming in late can disturb the whole building, and I could hear the man next door snoring quite clearly which is a shame because it’s otherwise so peaceful here at night and (2) the lighting is quite dim, not good for older eyes reading.

Pedi quartos próximos com vistas amplas (pressupõe varanda para o rio, tendo feito menção no telefonema que foi feito para confirmar reserva), em data que ainda tinha muitas reservas em aberto, com características semelhantes ao pedido. Referem que como foi feito por uma plataforma os pedidos não são atendidos da mesma forma, dando preferência aos que são feitos no hotel, reservando os melhores quartos para essas situações. Os quartos que foram dados não tem varanda (conforme imagens do anúncio), são muito pequenos, não tendo roupeiros (só cruzetas), nem frigorífico minibar. Atendimento pouco compreensivo e pouco simpatico. Piscina não é do hotel (como está subentendido no anúncio), é uma piscina  fluvial municipal (?), não tendo água tratada, sendo dividida com a comunidade. Limpeza muito deficiente, os tetos não são limpos, apresentam aranhas na cama e baratas no chão. Única nota positiva: pequeno almoço.

Marcamos este alojamento com base nas fotografias do Booking e diversos artigos que lemos, mas o que encontramos foi um alojamento /quinta que deve ter sido magnifico em tempos mas que acusa uma imensa falta de manutenção, diria mesmo que está votado ao abandono não obstante os esforços que são feitos pelo Sr Joaquim e esposa. Marcamos 2 noites com pequeno almoço, eramos 6 pessoas tinhamos: 1 pacote de leite, 6 fatias de queijo e fiambre, 1 pacote de sumo grande e 6 pequenos. Vale pelo pão quente e bolo caseiro entregue todas as manhãs e este sim em quantidade suficiente. A casa estava limpa, com toalhas suficientes. O espaço exterior necessitava de ser revitalizado, no alpendre tinha sofás de tecido sujos que não fazem sentido. Colchões de piscina amontoados. Sem nenhuma actividade extra, embora na recepção ainda conste o quadro com as actividades que em tempos a quinta deve ter tido. Uma pena, imenso potencial...

A piscina do melhor... A localização TOP, 3 min. a pé do centro de Elvas, 10 minutos de Badajoz e muito próximo de outros pontos imperdíveis de visitar. Tem carregamento para veículos elétricos.
