The Everglades Hotel is located on the outskirts of Derry/Londonderry, making it less convenient for those relying on public transport or hoping to walk to and from the city centre, especially after enjoying the vibrant bar scene. However, once you arrive, don't let the aging exterior deter you—despite its dated appearance, the hotel is surrounded by well-maintained gardens that hint at the care given to the property. Stepping inside, you're greeted with the plush and luxurious ambiance expected of a 4-star hotel. The interior boasts a traditional yet modern design, tastefully blending timeless elegance with updated fixtures and fittings. We visited for the New Year’s Eve celebrations, which were enhanced by the beautifully maintained Christmas decorations, including a stunning central tree in the lobby. The staff were welcoming and professional throughout our stay, accommodating our request for a room change with ease. It's worth noting that some rooms appear to be more updated than others, so experiences may vary. Our upgraded ground-floor room was beautifully designed with a king-sized bed, a cozy seating area, and a window seat. Unfortunately, the view overlooked the main road, requiring curtains to remain closed for privacy. A sheer curtain option would have been a nice touch to allow light in without compromising privacy. Rooms on the opposite side of the corridor had limited views as well, facing a brick wall. Standard amenities were provided, including tea/coffee facilities, a large TV, Bluetooth speaker, iron, vanity area, complimentary water, and high-speed internet (120 Mbps). While the room felt modern and luxurious, the bathroom did not quite match the same standard. One unique aspect of the hotel was the continued use of traditional single-use toiletries instead of fixed dispensers, accompanied by signage warning guests against taking them to avoid additional charges. While this appears to be part of an eco-conscious effort, it did feel a bit at odds with the hotel’s otherwise polished presentation. We prepaid for breakfast at check-in to benefit from a reduced rate and enjoyed the standard options of hot and cold offerings. However, the quality of the ingredients was underwhelming, and we chose to dine elsewhere on our second morning. For the NYE celebrations, the hotel hosted live music acts in the central lobby and bar area, creating a lively atmosphere. However, a few small details could have improved the experience—lighting the fireplace would have added warmth, and the musician, unfortunately, sang through midnight without acknowledging the countdown, leaving guests to celebrate the New Year on their own initiative. Dining in the bar restaurant yielded mixed results. While some dishes were enjoyable, others were either overcooked or overly seasoned, perhaps due to the challenges of catering to a larger crowd on New Year’s Eve with the Grill Restaurant function.. First time staying here as I heard good reviews and I got a good deal in a Junior Suite. We came for our Wedding Anniversary so nice opportunity to stay in the heart of Derry. Great location and views from our room were stunning. Staff are very nice and very welcoming. However, the Hotel is a little tired and at best, really needs a deep clean and completely redecorated . Carpets look tired and grubby. Breakfast wasn't great either to be honest. One coffee machine was broken and both looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. The hotel gets loads of big bus tours and it's really busy. It just needs a good overhaul. We've stayed everywhere else in Derry and probably won't be staying here again. Which is a real shame.

Received a message from serendipity to say how they did food and fully stocked bar etc just the morning of the day we arrived yay. On arrival told bar is closed .. oh apparently staff shortage BUT the owner is there telling us this Okay 🤷🏼‍♂️ Booked a triple room and again-says triple and single bed but it was a SMALL double and a single BUT again no problem as we are family 🤷🏼‍♂️ Head out in to Derry,,, great place Next morning yay breakfast Head down and only offered continental ,,, nice selection but really !! Lady that showed us to the table said no cooked breakfast as it’s during the week and they only did cooked at the weekend 🤣 owner said sorry no chef .. what ?? But you could do it !! Nearly forgot.. says parking 👍 yes there is but it is pot luck as it is on a residential road 🤷🏼‍♂️ Would I stay here again or recommend this place … NO Plus point it is within an easy walking distance of the city. I don’t like to leave negative feedback but the owner made no effort and just said staff shortages and okay fair enough but how about putting it on the website or email so the customer knows what not to expect .

I have to say I have been going to Da Vincis for years, wasnt sure about the change, me just being over familiar with the norm, I have to say we went to the restaurant for our Sunday lunch last week, Leona and staff were amazing. Leona is a great front of house in the restaurant, very welcoming, very genuine and professional Yea teething problems but when u feel like nothings a problem and the service and food was amazing it just fell into place, when the staff make it their business to make u feel special and I’m sure that was carried out with all customers in the restaurant was great. Went to the bar and Les is an absolute diamond, breath of fresh air, I have to say the changes are good and very welcome, keep up the great transformation as I’m sure this is only the start of a new generation in da vincis.
