Hotel 4-Bintang di Northland, New Zealand

Stayed here for two nights on business. My room was on the ground floor ( 100 series ). Arrived tired and desperately needed a good nights sleep for the day ahead full of meetings. At 10pm there seemed like a party going on upstairs, doors slamming, people yelling. I managed to drift off to sleep but at midnight the noise of occupants woke me up and was almost louder than earlier. I’m not a prude and realise that people need to have some fun, but at 12:30am midweek it’s time to call it a night. Called reception and was told ‘there was a bit of a function on and they should calm down soon’. I replied that maybe reception should fast track that ‘calming down process’. He was VERY reluctant to do that. I got 3 hours sleep. Struggled through the day, got back to my room and fell asleep at 9pm. Again..the noise started, and went through to 1:30am. My organisation paid $450 for two nights to have me rested for my working day.. The Northland locals just laughed at me when I told them. Apparently the locals avoid the Copthorne for this very reason. The Copthorne opened their rooms to those who can’t find permanent accommodation, so families are living there long term. That’s great, but if you are on business and need sleep, avoid this resort like the plague. I gave 2 stars as opposed to one as the room was clean, the breakfast was nice and during the day the reception was friendly.

My partner and I came in for dinner on Easter Sunday - we were staying at the Doubtless Bay Villas for the Easter weekend. I ordered Lamb Kofta as a starter and Ribs with Asian slaw as a main course. The waitress brought my lamb to the table and it didn't take long for me to realise that it wasn't cooked properly. It was pink on the inside and in fact there was a small piece of completely raw lamb on the end of one of the skewers. I did eat a little bit of it and was showing it to my partner. I also told him that the Tzatziki wasn't very good either, however that may also just be personal preference. Next thing, the waitress brought out my main course. There had been no questions about how the meal was in between so I had no opportunity to explain my thoughts. In addition to that, I still had the entree in front of me. I said to the waitress that I still had my entree and she made a comment along the lines of ”oh yes” and then put the main course down on the table anyway. I pushed the entree to one side as I wasn't really eating it anyway. The Ribs were quite good - the flavour was lacking in my opinion but that was just personal preference - they were cooked well. The Asian slaw was incredibly poor. It was a pile of shredded green and purple cabbage with a blob of mayo on the top. It was even a properly dressed coleslaw and certainly not Asian style that would have been dressed with lime, sesame oil, fish sauce etc. It was just a big pile of raw cabbage and no other vegetables. I also had an extremely disappointing Pina Colada but again, I can put that down to personal preference but the green dyed dessicated coconut that was sprinkled on the top was really unpleasant. My partner said his dinner of Cauli Manchurian followed by the Lamb Shank was very underseasoned and not enjoyable, however this is not something we would complain about but we think you should know that the quality wasn't there. When we left, I went to the bar as I wanted to give the waitress a tip but that didn't happen as she said they can't take a tip by EFTPOS payment and my partner had already paid for the dinner. I wanted to give her a tip because she was kind and pleasant. I told her my thoughts on my dinner and she apologised. She was a very nice young woman and unfortunately I didn't get her name. But it was clear that the three very young women serving in the bar and restaurant that night were very undertrained. She had no idea what to do when she brought my main course out and the entree was still in front of me - mostly uneaten. I also felt that the waitstaff were underdressed for their role - black tights/yoga pants and tshirts are very unprofessional looking for dinner service at a restaurant where we spent almost $200.

The location is great, a few minutes walk to beach front and maim centre for food. Amenities include cutlery, fridge, microwave, kettle etc. Only thing is there is no air-conditioner but fans were provided but luckily it wasn't too hot when we were there but in peak summer, no a/c would have been bad.

Hotel has invested & upgraded however not in the public areas where carpet looks distinctly tired. The rooms has new carpet, a huge round mirror and bespoke fittings however the bathroom still has the old tiles and 1980s 45° plastic shower which feels very claustrophobic. No liquid soap & soap cakes are supplied. Complimentary tea & instant coffee but a very bare fridge except for UHT milk pods. TV has usual freeview stations including ABC (Aussie), French TV & DW (German) but no Sky channels. Unfortunately the entry door has 1 inch gap underdoor which allows a lot of noise to intrude. Also no smoke seals or auto closer (non complying under current NZ Building Code but probably OK as built before NZ Building Act 1992 came into force). Party walls also allow a lot of inter-room noise (we left the bathroom fan on to provide some background masking). Aircon/heating is provided by a domestic looking & yellowing hi-bay heat pump which didnt try. Breakfast was standard fare with bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, cereals, raw juice etc. Espresso is available on request but extra cost eg. $6 for Latte. Plenty of carparking and convenient walking distance to Town Basin. Concluding, hotel is slowly upgrading but still a lot to do - 3.5 stars

Love convenience location but when you booked in app you will got old Building. Like a small kitchen in the room. Tiny Dishwasher was surprised me. Smart tv box is excellent for my Entertainment. Only problem was hot water temperature when showering. It's hard to control stable warm. Too hot and too cold. The towels supposed to change after second day stay that notice in the bathroom but it changed on fourth day of six days.

I like the location and Bay of Island is beautiful. Admiral's View Lodge is clean, quiet and offers self driving traveller's everything what one needs. Paihia's small community is nice, friendly and one can feel safe. I lost my mobile phone while I went out for dinner and found it in the next morning thanks to the lost and found board in the community.

Spacious, clean and comfortable room. Friendly people. Sliding door opens to lovely patio and nice grounds. I had to walk down the driveway at night and there was no lighting

Spent a couple of days in Pahia with a friend mountain biking and playing golf. Stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom with views over the pool and out to the water. Nice big apartment, huge lounge, nice balcony overlooking the pool. Very comfortable. Two *******: it's very hard to get out of the underground parking, and they don't heat the pool. My own pool isn't much smaller at home, it costs me about $150-200 per month to heat. When I'm paying about $550 per night for an apartment, heat the damn pool it was freezing.

Bilik secara umumnya baik, dan isteri cukup berpuas hati! Kunci bilik berada di dalam kotak dengan kunci kod di sebelah pintu. Semasa saya pergi ke sana, tiada sesiapa di meja depan. Selepas menekan loceng pintu, saya memberitahu saya kod dan nombor bilik melalui interkom. Saya mengambil kunci untuk membuka pintu, yang sangat mudah. Isyarat wayarles sangat lemah dan kata laluan wifi tidak berfungsi dengan baik, jadi saya tidak pergi mencari seseorang untuk menyelesaikannya selepas menginap selama satu malam.

Return visit to this awesome lodge whilst competing the in Beach to Bay Ocean Swim Series last weekend. Outstanding as always. Friendly, professional, knowledgable, personal service from the team. Rooms are exactly what you need and the shared spaces are well catered and create an atmosphere of community. Can't wait to visit again, highly recommend. Pic is taken on the morning of the swim and the beach is literally a few minutes stroll from the lodge.

Our son, my wife & I stayed one night as we have before on a couple of occasions & loved the handy location with a beautiful view of beach & bay directly across the road , spacious , clean , cozy temperature controlled by remote if needed. Each time we’ve stayed here the staff have been amazing, helpful and friendly eg…phoned reception to ask if we could have a bit more milk for our coffee and cornflakes, to our amazement had a fresh milk at the door in minutes. I’d highly recommend to anyone to spend time here just relaxing or a stopover on the move . Happy to share our experience

We loved our stay here. Our second floor corner suite had gorgeous views of the bay and sunrise. Fantastic location as it’s a short walk to restaurants, bars, and the ferry wharf. Waitangi is a short drive or walk away. Our suite was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for three nights. The bed was comfortable, and we had plenty of space. Lyn was warm and friendly and gave us good local recommendations. We would happily stay here again!
