"Chengde is a tourist city, so prices are generally high. Chatting with taxi drivers, I found it was even more expensive than in Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital. This is particularly evident in food, accommodation, and transportation. As a tourist, my experience at this hotel was as follows: There were some smart upgrades, but not all of them were truly smart. I chose this hotel because the description said it had smart toilets, but it was quite misleading. The toilet only flushed automatically; there was no bidet function! Ugh…! I'm used to it at home, so those who know, know… There were swimming lanes, which was a relief. Every summer, I don't need a card; I usually use the hotel for swimming when I travel for work. It's very convenient for hotel guests; just showing the room card is enough. After swimming, I can directly take the elevator back to my room to shower at my leisure. However, I must point out that the hotel needs to pay more attention. There were almost no lifeguards; they were practically nonexistent. Whether the lane is 1.4 meters or 2 meters, lifeguards must be present. Even the Olympic swimming pools have lifeguards. Also, please keep the bathrooms clean. Regarding the location, it's truly in the city center. If you're physically able, you can easily walk to the Summer Palace, Erxianju Night Market, Lao San, and Lao Ding Lamb Soup. There's also a well-known local supermarket right across the street, and a night market street to the left of the hotel. Chengde's nightlife starts early and ends early, generally around 10:30 PM, which seems related to the cold weather outside the Great Wall. It truly lives up to its reputation as an auspicious location chosen by emperors; although the summer days are scorching, a shady spot provides immediate relief from the heat, and the evenings are pleasantly cool. In short, considering the location, the swimming pool, and unless you absolutely need a smart toilet, this hotel offers the best value for money. Being an InterContinental brand, it adheres to standardized practices. Unless you insist on staying inside the scenic area or outside the city, it's really unnecessary. You'll be out sightseeing every day; even the best hotel won't last a full day. Spending so much money is pointless. Also, you can buy cheap tickets for the "Kangxi Grand Ceremony" show here, saving 20 yuan per person. If you know someone at a travel agency or taxi driver, they can offer a 60 yuan discount."
