"Hakone Hotel is a historic piece of Hakone and has maintained its elegance over the decades. It has spacious rooms with comfortable beds and if lucky, great views of the lake and Mt. Fuji. The onsen are a nice touch, and included for guests with minimal charge, 150 yen per da, and seems to be compulsory. The breakfast is simple, with an order main dish, and buffet for the additional options. The French toast is amazing. The staff is extremely helpful and speaks English relatively well. The hotel offers free welcome drinks and free soft drinks, coffee, milk tea, cocoa, and more throughout the day. The location is perfect for getting on the lake cruise, which takes you to the shrine in 5 minutes, the cable car in 25 minutes, which goes onward to the steam vents. There are limited restaurants nearby the hotel, but there's an excellent Indian place right next door, a Japanese food truck that makes great grilled chicken yakotori, wagyu beef, and a Mediterranean that i didn't have an opportunity to try. This is an excellent hotel and somewhere I'd stay again. It does take about 40 minutes by bus from the train station, but worth the effort."

"Love the ambience of the room. But there was no reception counter  to receive you on yr arrival. Everything was self activated with he pin and access code. The view from the balcony was stunning. Overlooking Fujisan and tori!!"

"Right next to Hakone shrine walkable ! They have a free shuttle to Hakone Motomachi , very elegant and stylish hotel. We ordered micro bio break fast choice , it was yummy also the afternoon tea and room service . Onsen in hotel was very nice as well I would stay here again !"

"Wonderful location next to the park (and the territory itself looks peaceful and taken care of). The building needs some care though. We had a room with private onsen on the terrace and it was very convenient, but please note that the shower is also outside – it might be a bit cold not in the summertime, I suppose. Food was a bit blunt to our taste – both regular Japanese meals and vegetarian ones – but stuff made sure to provide vegetarian meals which was important for me, so if you’re looking for the ryokan with veggie food, it’s the place for you, just make sure to confirm your preference in advance via email so that they can accommodate you."

"This hotel is nestled in the mountains of Hakone so it's very peaceful and quiet. Room and amenities are new and extremely clean. The surroundings are also worth checking out, with a park just opposite and a waterfall nearby. Major bonus if you go in autumn as the maple trees will turn flaming red. Another big pro is the free access to the Yunessun onsens (free rental of towels and swimsuit upon showing that you're staying at the hotel). The indoor onsen has funky pools like coffee, red wine and green tea, but the real gem is the Mori no yu outdoor onsen. Once in the onsen, remember to go down the steps to discover many more pools below with nice surroundings and mountain view. Also a shoutout to the hotel staff who are incredibly kind and helpful. It's a small hotel with only 3 levels. No escalators or lifts but the staff will help to carry your luggage upon check in and check out. A kind staff even checked whether I have an umbrella when I was about to go out because it might rain. I daresay this is my favourite hotel amongst all the hotels I've stayed in."

"Pastikan anda memilih bilik pemandangan tasik yang tidak dapat dikalahkan di Bangunan Timur atau Barat! Hotel ini direka oleh artis terkenal, termasuk karya Togo Murano pada tahun 1978. Kerusi angsa merah yang terkenal dan sofa di dalam bilik tetamu penuh dengan rasa kontemporari. Kolam air panas dilengkapi sepenuhnya. Jangan risau tentang perjalanan yang bergelombang. Mata air panas dan makanan yang lazat serta-merta menghilangkan kepenatan hari itu. Satu-satunya kelemahan ialah jurang antara perkhidmatan lama dan baharu membawa perasaan yang sama sekali berbeza. Komunikasi bahasa adalah masalah biasa semasa melancong di Jepun, tetapi latihan hotel untuk pekerja baharu perlu diperkukuhkan dengan segera."

"Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great. We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier. For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient. Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!"

"I am glad that I booked this hotel instead of my original location at Gora. Even though it is not near Gora station but it made up for convenient Hakone buses just located outside the hotel. There is free hotel shuttle bus to Gora station. Do check the schedule. Service staff are very friendly and helpful with our request. Room amenities are wonderful and clean. The breakfast spread is so good and wide varieties. I would recommend to order the dinner as Hakone has very limited dining place for dinner. And I assure you will not regret. We throughly enjoyed the sumptuous spread. Food quality is fabulous. The free public & private (got to book and pay) onsen is good with good amenities. You can wear their yukata within the hotel. We would loved to revisit in the near future again!"

"The hotel is new and well operated. We have booked with breakfast and dinner buffet. There are various kinds of drinks provided, including whisky, wine, beer, soft drinks and fruit juice, worth for trying, but there are limited choices of food. The view of the room is perfect as you can see the lake and the cable car station without any obstruction from your balcony. The hot spring spa at the hotel is wonderful, with indoor and outdoor portion and outside the hot spring, there are kimono that you could choose to dress during your stay. There is a private spa room but it’s full during my stay so we could not try it."

"This is one of the best experience I have ever had! A very friendly owner + impeccable service. They offer pick-up drop-off services at togendai and oishishita, and when I asked whether they can drop off the luggage at Gora they said yes!!! Saved me so so much time!! Great room, not the most luxurious but definitely comfy. Be aware there is no private showers though. But needless to say, when theres an onsen why would you need a private shower! The onsen is great in a sense that since it's a small hotel, there was rarely anybody. It's almost like a private onsen. The water temperature of the inner one is just right, but the outdoor one, when it's snowing is quite cold. Also, the outdoor onsen had some debris as well. So the quality of the onsen isnt top notch but for the price, it's already way above my expectations. (Also you can see mount fuji as you are enjoying the onsen!) Only downside is the location. When they offer very good pick-up and drop off services, the luggage system from the railway doesn't include this hotel. This forced me to start the trip at togendai (you could ask then to simply pick up your luggage). Not a big problem if I have known this beforehand, but I had to change plans and get on the pirate ship first, so be aware!! Overall. 10/10 experience. Good price, good room, excellent service. Would come again definitely!!"
