The owners are a very welcoming couple; they picked us up from the parking lot and even recommended local attractions. The breakfast is also very generous, and the steamed mini-buns were delicious."

It is a small hotel operating like a guest house and we were welcomed (in English) and totally cared for: delicious treats on demand, recommendations for restaurants and sight seeing, organisation of transfers and guide/driver. We were even treated some art workshop. All with consideration and smiles.10/10, highly recommended!"

"I look for hotels that are new, clean, have excellent service, and a great location. After checking in, I realized this hotel not only met all my requirements but truly felt 'better than home.' The hotel offers countless free services, including a wide selection of beautiful and new Hanfu or Qing Dynasty outfits for guests to wear, suitable for any preference. They also provide free shuttle services to Pingyao Ancient City and other tourist spots, as well as complimentary drop-offs at the Pingyao Ancient City high-speed rail station. This was incredibly thoughtful and convenient, significantly enhancing my trip and overall experience. The hotel lobby features a tea area with free refreshments and 24-hour complimentary hot and cold coffee. The rooms are spacious at 44 square meters, with large floor-to-ceiling windows and separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom. There's also a refrigerator. I must particularly commend the front desk staff and housekeepers for their attentiveness. Their politeness, enthusiasm, and hospitality were outstanding. Whenever I made a reasonable request, they responded quickly and without any perfunctory attitude. Their genuine smiles and welcoming/farewell gestures truly exemplified Chinese hospitality. 'Better than home' was indeed achieved."

"We enjoyed staying in this rustic old courtyard house. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect as it is next to the west city wall and gate, a more quiet part of the ancient city while still walkable to the main latern streets and attractions. Hiring an electric bike from the hotel was one of the highlighs of our stay, we were able to explore the far east, south and north part of the city in the summer breeze. The room was very comfortable, especially sleeping on the kang bed. The only cons was our room was next to the public toilet, hence less privacy and at times we could smell the toilet when the toilet door was left opened. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this unique place and will return to stay in future but in another room. The English breakfast was a wonderful addition to our stay."

"Great location, quiet neighborhood but not far from the center. The room is clean , comfortable and has the atmosphere of an old traditional home. It is the service that needs significant improvement to warrant the current four star rating.  The price was for two people and yet, there was one tea bag per person, a very small roll of toilet paper and the facial tissue bixes were almost empty. The breakfast was no better: ine boiled egg, a small bun, a bowl of sweet porridge and a tiny slice (about one tenth) of a sweet potato and a root vegetable, with a tiny portion of pickled cabbage. For a mainland B&B well below standard. What’s more, the old nan who was on duty in the morning would pick up dirt from the floor while handling food with bare hands and had trouble finding toilet paper in the storage room while I waited outside in freezing weather. The host is friendly and helped with orientation and organizing transfers to the railway station, so with little improvement in service this could be a good choice for Pingyao."

We had originally booked a guesthouse inside the ancient city, but it was too noisy, so we canceled and booked this hotel instead. Since cars aren't allowed into the ancient city, two staff members picked us up with two electric bikes. The next morning, the hotel owner drove us to the South Gate parking lot to retrieve our own car. The owner's family is incredibly kind and decent people. I accidentally lost my glasses on the way, and a family member drove me to an optical shop on an electric bike to get a new pair – I'm so grateful! I usually don't leave reviews, good or bad, but this time I absolutely had to, and it definitely deserves five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"

"This stay was, arguably, one of the best hotel experiences I've had to date. **Cleanliness:** I can honestly say the cleanliness was excellent. Each guest had their own room in the courtyard, and everything was clean, with freshly replaced disposable slippers and toothbrushes provided – a solid five stars. **Environment:** No AC noise, very quiet, and the traditional courtyard setting was unique. The room wasn't huge but felt incredibly cozy. **Service:** Oh, I really want to talk about the service, haha! 😂 The accommodation fee wasn't high, but I was so surprised that they offered pick-up and drop-off service. A taxi ride there and back would have easily cost over 50 yuan, so I saved a good 50 yuan over these few days. Then, when I arrived, the owner gave me a big map and told me how to explore, where to go, what not to buy, and to avoid illegal taxis, etc. He was genuinely a kind and honest person. He even gave me a sachet, and the breakfast the next day was also good. **Overall Experience:** To sum up my entire stay, I really loved it. It had that cozy 'Northeastern heated bed' vibe, plus floor heating, a warm attitude, and excellent service. They even gave me two extra bottles of water. As a traveler, I usually don't review this thoroughly, but this truly was a hotel with warmth and character."
