Coming back for a second stay says it all honestly!! Wonderwall has earned a permanent spot on my list whenever I'm in the area. The location is just unbeatable, the staff are genuinely wonderful (shoutout to everyone who helped us out!), and the place is spotless clean every single time.
What really blew me away this visit was how accommodating they were about our luggage. We were heading off to Kaohsiung for a couple of days and they held our bags for us without any fuss at all. That kind of flexibility and trust in their guests is honestly rare and it makes such a huge difference when you're traveling.
If you're on the fence, just book it. When a place brings you back for a second time, you know it's doing something right. See you again soon, Wonderwall!

This place is a little far from Banqiao MRT station, you probably need to talk for 15 mins. Uber may not take you coz of the short distance.
Place is basic and clean. However to tie the hair dryer to the desk drawer is really inconvenient if you are sharing room. I mean who would steal hairdryer?
Receptionist on one of the days in the morning was helpful and recommended us where to go without asking.

We enjoy the stay🥰😍 the room is excellent, fully air conditioned and we really appreciate the cleanliness of their bathroom, Staff is very nice, only no refrigerator and the location is a little bit far from ximen night market but overall experience is excellent i would recommend it❤️❤️❤️

Wholesome Hotel in Wanhua, Taipei has a great location. It’s not too far from the MRT station on the Bannan Line, making it convenient to get around the city. The hotel is located right in the middle of the Guangzhou Night Market, with lots of eateries nearby. There is also a supermarket in the area, which makes the stay even more convenient. The hotel, though a bit old, is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from Ximending. The breakfast selection is decent and more varied than at Walker. However, it would be better if the breakfast area were open all day so guests could easily grab water and coffee whenever they needed. The receptionists also seemed a bit cold and didn’t greet us when we returned from a long day of sightseeing. Despite these, we still recommend this hotel and will choose it as our go-to hotel if we’re in Taipei due to its prime location and value for money.

I stayed alone in a double room, and the price was incredibly affordable—about the same as a hostel. The space is quite compact, so it might be a bit inconvenient for two people with large suitcases. The soundproofing isn’t great; the girl in the room next door was talking loudly on and off from 1:00 to 4:00 AM, which was extremely noisy. I kept waking up and had a hard time sleeping. I recommend that the hotel kindly remind guests to keep their voices down during late-night hours.
The location is super convenient—about a 6-minute walk from Ximen Station and Don Quixote. Even if you forget to bring toiletries, it’s not a problem, as the nearby shops stay open late. I also want to praise the front desk staff—they were genuinely kind and thoughtful. Thank you so much for your help! 🙏🏻 🙏🏻
我是一個人入住雙人房，價格非常划算，大約是青年旅館的價格。雖然空間較為狹窄，如果是兩位旅客且有大行李，可能會稍嫌不便。房間的隔音不太理想，隔壁房的女生在凌晨1點到4點之間斷斷續續大聲聊天，真的非常吵，讓我一整晚斷斷續續被吵醒，睡得很辛苦。建議旅館能提醒房客在深夜時保持安靜，避免影響他人休息。
地點非常方便，距離西門站與唐吉訶德步行大約6分鐘，就算沒帶盥洗用品也沒關係，附近店家營業到很晚，生活機能很棒。特別想誇獎櫃檯的服務人員，親切又貼心，真的非常感謝她們的協助！🙏🏻

What you see is what you get. They offer McDonald’s breakfast — simple, but honestly pretty solid. I’d recommend this place for backpackers or couples, because it’s super convenient and close to the MRT.
On top of that, all the basic necessities are covered. The place is clean and hygienic, which is the most important thing for me.

Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable.
2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance
When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside?
3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior
After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues.
As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight.
We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of:
- Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance
- Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival
- Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior
We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future.

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel automatically upgraded us to a significantly more spacious room during check-in which was a nice gesture. The room was spotless and while Taiwan law does not allow hotels to proactively provide single-use toiletries, shampoo and shower gel are still provided through dispenser bottles. The hotel also has a water dispenser so guests do not have to worry about buying bottled water everyday from convenience stores. Without having to request for it, hotel staff automatically changed the pillowcase when they saw that it was soiled which showed their meticulousness when cleaning the room.
In terms of location, the hotel is within a mixed-used building just outside exit Z2 of the Taipei Main Station so it was very convenient to get around and explore the city. While some reviews complained about the long waiting time for elevators, I found that it was generally acceptable. There were two elevators at the front lobby that served all levels of the building and more elevators at the back of the building serving specific levels.
At this price point, the only drawback was the shower head in the toilet. Due to the small size of the shower area, you would be standing very close to the shower head. The shower head holder is non-adjustable and angled almost horizontally forward rather than downwards. This meant that when you turned on the shower, the water would be directed at your face and head and it would be difficult to direct the water at anything below the neck level. As such, most guests would have to resort to holding the shower head in their hands rather than enjoying a hands-free relaxing experience, which I guess was a small compromise to make.
Overall, I enjoyed my short stay at this hotel.

MMJ FERNThe location is super convenient—just a short walk from Taipei Main Station, which made getting around the city and to the airport so easy. I always felt safe even when coming back a bit late, which is a huge plus when you’re traveling alone.
The place itself is clean, cozy, and well-maintained. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the common areas are nice if you want to relax or meet other travelers. What stood out the most was how accommodating and friendly the staff were—they’re always ready to help with directions, recommendations, or anything you need.
As a female solo traveler, safety and comfort are everything, and Main Inn definitely delivered. It has a welcoming vibe that makes you feel at home while still being budget-friendly.
Highly recommend this place if you’re planning a solo trip to Taipei 💛
