TTim NazarovWe were looking for onsen with private bath on the balcony and probably hit the sweet spot.
Unfortunately we had only 1 night stay, but it was fantastic.
Onsen is located at the top station Gora, where you can get from Odawara. That’s around 2 hours from Tokyo all together, around 3 hours from Kyoto. Last 2 sections of the way are going through a picturesque steep railway. Views are great! Be sure to rush to the front or back seats (doesn’t matter which) to secure a spot for nice photographs.
Private bath is fantastic, rooms are clean and spacious with a touch of ryokan style (tatami etc). That’s a perfect place to sit and relax doesn’t matter it’s sunshine or pooring rain outside.
The food was fantastic (according to my wife), however the options are limited if you’re not eating fish or sea products due to allergy or other reasons.
For Karaku team - I would suggest adding a signature wagyu set for those who would like something else. Selection of wine and alcohol drinks is superb. Free snacks and coffee are available till 8 p.m. as well with a view terrace. For those who like some regular conbini stuff - Lawson is around 10 mins walk with Miyazaki style trains passing by👌🏻
All in all, we wish we had stayed at least 2 nights as there are lots of activities around.

PPengguna TetamuHakone Kowakien Ten-yu is a truly comfortable and relaxing ryokan that made our stay very enjoyable. The staff were attentive and welcoming from the moment we arrived by car, and they promptly helped unload our luggage and delivered it to the hotel. They also assisted with carrying our luggage back to the car during check-out. The room was well-equipped, clean, and very hygienic, and the high-floor view was wide and beautiful. Breakfast and dinner buffet were both satisfying, with delicious food and a good variety of choices. The onsen was also impressive, with two levels of outdoor baths that are alternated between men and women at different times, allowing guests to enjoy both. The water park-style onsen area was a bit less impressive, but overall, this ryokan deserves a very high rating. The official site highlights its open-air onsen, private baths in all rooms, and well-regarded dining, which matches the strong overall experience here

PPengguna TetamuThe private onsen service was terrible. Please do not get the private onsen. The receptionist in the onsen does not understand english. The receptionist also did not assist us. The time was also incorrect. We were supposed to have 8-9 and 9-10 slot. But ahe is so confused. And 9:30 they are already knocking our doors calling us to come out.
A totally bad experience in the private onsen.
The hotel is ok. Food is also good. The private onsen which was supposed to be the highlight of our trip… became the worst. Total waste of money

AANASTASIIA_BERDNIKOVAThis hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

TTSANG HO YHBWe only stayed for one night. This hotel is also used as a 1-day onsen for public so it was quite busy with a lot of people in the public areas and at the onsens. The room was slightly smaller than expected. The buffet breakfast and dinner were ok but nothing spectacular. The area outside the hotel was very picturesque though, and it's only a 10-15 min walk to the nearest station and you will pass all the souvenir shops and little eateries on the way so it's quite nice.

PPengguna Tetamu跨年在這裏度過美好一夜，服務員幾乎不通人和外語，卻友好善於溝通，先訂了公共浴室，後來剛好有空位改了帶私湯的，滿意度提高很多！酒店位置離箱跟湯本站很近，出租車1000日元以內，後來打不到車我們帶着孩子步行十五分鐘到車站也很舒服🏳️🌈

ААнна БучокOverall, the impression is positive, and we thank the staff for their care.
However, the ryokan is quite old, and inside all the rooms there is a smell of age, which makes it not very pleasant to stay there.
The Japanese food is very specific — it’s just my personal taste, but I couldn’t have breakfast or lunch there.
Considering that this was the most expensive “hotel” during our 14-day trip around Japan, our expectations were a bit higher.
In any case, we thank the staff for this unique experience.

Плюсы: сам отель, вежливый персонал, чистый большой, атмосферный номер с видом на горы, в стоимость входит общественный онсен, достаточно приятный особенно если вам повезет быть там одному, как повезло нам (были утром). В отеле есть автоматы с напитками и едой, что очень удобно, т к магазинов по близости нет. Можно заказать услугу отправки вашего багажа на станцию, чтоб не тащить самим, но мы не успели к сожалению, ее можно заказать до 10 утра.
Минусы: увы они сильно отпечатались, отель находит ся в ужасно не удобной отдаленной локации, прям в глуши куда сложно добраться, вдали от всех достопримечательностей за которыми вы едите, до них мы плыли на корабле, вдали от любых заведений где вы захотите раздобыть еду, заведения мало того что далеко, закрываются рано, открываются поздно, еще и цены завышены, а еда не вкусная.
Такси до места проживания вызвать не смогли, т к нужно было привязывать местный номер тел!сначала шли пешком с чемоданами по дороге, потом сели в автобус ( автобусы не принимали наш пасс, карту которую мы специально купили для Хаконэ, хотя автобусы в нее входят. А цена на них без карты явно завышена, 300р чтоб проехать 8 мин в гору.
Так как у нас был забронирован еще другой онсен индивидуальный в другом месте (20 мин езды) после него в 21 вечера поняли что автобусы уже перестали ходить, такси без шансов вызвать или поймать , пришлось идти пешком до отеля, а это 2 часа по темной дороге в горах, вокруг лес, и изредка попадаются фонари… ловили попутки никто не останавливается, даже такси. Спустя час дороги в гору (не передать наши эмоции) машина 10 по счету если не больше, остановилась и молодая пара японцев нас подвезла до отеля.
В общем сам отель хороший (кстати ночью еще было холодно, грелись кондиционером, но номер большой его сложно прогреть, спасибо были большие одеяла запасные) но все остальное в плане места ужас( Если будете останавливаться, заранее продумайте на чем будете ездить.
