I am glad that I booked this hotel instead of my original location at Gora. Even though it is not near Gora station but it made up for convenient Hakone buses just located outside the hotel. There is free hotel shuttle bus to Gora station. Do check the schedule.
Service staff are very friendly and helpful with our request.
Room amenities are wonderful and clean.
The breakfast spread is so good and wide varieties.
I would recommend to order the dinner as Hakone has very limited dining place for dinner. And I assure you will not regret. We throughly enjoyed the sumptuous spread.
Food quality is fabulous.
The free public & private (got to book and pay) onsen is good with good amenities.
You can wear their yukata within the hotel.
We would loved to revisit in the near future again!

Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great.
We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier.
For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient.
Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!

Room was huge with private hot tub. Breakfast and dinner, both have wide variety, but the food was not warm. The spread of alcohols were fancy.
Located just 5 mins walk away is the cable car station, which was rather enjoyable. But super crowded, waiting time more than 45mins.
And luckily, hotel provides shuttle bus service to nearest train station, with 3 timing slots. Took about 50 mins of bus ride.

A wonderful authentic Japanese experience. Great service despite us not speaking the same language (They are very adept at using Google translate). Good Location for Hakone Open Air Museum and for being able to get on the bus back to the station early before it gets so crowded it doesn't stop for more passengers. I didn't manage to use the pass for the baths over the road, but great to have that included in the price if you do have time. Some lovely gardens right opposite the hotel.

This i hotel is definitely something else.
The rooms are amazing, the food is unbelievable, infact you probably won't survive too many days here based on the quality and quantity.
I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. It has an excellent view of the mountains, amazing onsite onsens and many inclusions like free icecream, nearly all day fancy teas and a shuttle service. However this can get interrupted by snow.
This is a must visit for all.

Managed to get on the last boat ride across Lake Ashi and was there in time for the hotel shuttle pick up. It was pitch dark out around 5pm during Japan's autumn however the hotel lobby is cozy and inviting, one that is full of history. The friendly front desk handed me a key with a large wooden key chain, and I checked out the large room prior to my dinner timing. There's a door to partition the bedroom and toilet/entrance area which felt nice. Dinner was a set menu and one that was filling. There are ice machine dispenser at the male onsen level and female onsen was on the highest floor. There's a lift that brings you to right outside the spa so visitors won't have to walk across the lobby area in their yukatas. Onsen was clean and spacious, there's a shower area to clean up, a sauna, outdoor and indoor onsen. Dressing room area has all the amenities you need and the ice popsicle after onsen is a nice touch. Woke up the next morning to catch the sunrise and caught a nice view of golden rays spewing across Lake Ashi, the garden and the glorious Mount Fuji right from my room. 100% recommended staying at this hotel! Had a super filing Japanese breakfast and checked out to explore the rest of Hakone.

Nice traditional Ryokan. The staff was mostly non-Japanese so did not feel super authentic. Rooms were large and nice, but location of Ryokan is 25min drive from the main train station, which made exploring a little more trouble some. The staff were generally friendly, but extremely inflexible, which I suppose one would need to expect in Japan. But given the front desk staff was not even Japanese we found this to be a little frustrating at times.

Beautiful hotel with a really large, clean and comfortable room. Appreciated the complimentary drinks in the room, and at the foyer (in the morning) and bar (during happy hour).
Lovely view of Mt Fuji across the lake as well, worth every penny. Unfortunately Mt Fuji was covered by clouds for most of our trip, but the only time we were able to see it mostly in full was at the hotel.
Onsen experience was also great; while it was a public onsen, other guests did not really use it, which was a real shame as there was a jacuzzi and outdoor onsen inside.
Only downside was the central air conditioning which made the room feel a bit too warm after coming back from the onsen, but otherwise still a comfortable stay.

The ryokan style room was clean and cozy, but a bit small for a family of 5. Buffet-style dinner and breakfast were decent, with selection of both Japanese and Western options.
Staff were very polite and helpful, front desk staff speaks good English too.
Good location for self drive travellers, near to attractions like Owakudani and Open Air Museum.
The public bath (both indoor and outdoor) were great. Outdoor female onsen had the Mt Fuji view. Clear instructions to use the public bath.
We had a really enjoyable stay here.

TTim NazarovWe were looking for onsen with private bath on the balcony and probably hit the sweet spot.
Unfortunately we had only 1 night stay, but it was fantastic.
Onsen is located at the top station Gora, where you can get from Odawara. That’s around 2 hours from Tokyo all together, around 3 hours from Kyoto. Last 2 sections of the way are going through a picturesque steep railway. Views are great! Be sure to rush to the front or back seats (doesn’t matter which) to secure a spot for nice photographs.
Private bath is fantastic, rooms are clean and spacious with a touch of ryokan style (tatami etc). That’s a perfect place to sit and relax doesn’t matter it’s sunshine or pooring rain outside.
The food was fantastic (according to my wife), however the options are limited if you’re not eating fish or sea products due to allergy or other reasons.
For Karaku team - I would suggest adding a signature wagyu set for those who would like something else. Selection of wine and alcohol drinks is superb. Free snacks and coffee are available till 8 p.m. as well with a view terrace. For those who like some regular conbini stuff - Lawson is around 10 mins walk with Miyazaki style trains passing by👌🏻
All in all, we wish we had stayed at least 2 nights as there are lots of activities around.

PPengguna TetamuI had a wonderful stay at Rakuten Stay Fujimi Terrace! The day before check-in, I received an email with the entrance code, which made the whole process very smooth. The room was exactly as described on the website—with large windows offering an incredible view of Mt. Fuji, the torii gate, and the lake. The scenery alone made it more than worth it.
We had eight people staying in two 4-person rooms located on the third floor. One of the rooms was slightly larger and had extra bedding stored in the closet—enough to comfortably sleep two additional people. There were two bathrooms and two toilets in total, which was perfect for a group or family.
The main bathroom included a sauna, hot spring-style bath, shower area, double sinks, a washing machine, and a water dispenser. The second bathroom had a separate shower area and a single sink. Both toilets were separated spaces from bathrooms with high-tech with bidet functions and small sinks.
The large dining table and spacious sofa area easily seated all of us. We spent many relaxing moments on the balcony, soaking our feet in the warm onsen foot bath, chatting, and admiring the stunning view.
The kitchen was fully equipped with a dishwasher, detergent, a large fridge stocked with complimentary drinks, a capsule coffee machine, and a Japanese rice cooker that made delicious rice. The beds were on the firmer side but still soft and very comfortable.
It was just a 3-minute walk along the lake to the 7-Eleven, accessible by elevator from the building. The nearby pier was where we boarded the pirate ship cruise, and about 13 minutes further along the lake was the Peace Torii—a fantastic photo spot. Don’t forget to grasp some delicious bread at “bakery and table” before boarding to the ship.
After check-out, we stored our luggage in the lockers at Motohakone Port, took the pirate ship to Togendai, transferred to the ropeway to Sounzan, and visited Gora and Kowakudani before taking the mountain bus back to Motohakone to pick up our luggages. There are 4 lockers for suitcase up to 32 inches ¥700, 12 lockers for 24 inches ¥600, and 10 lockers for smaller size of bags ¥400. From there, we had a pre-arranged shuttle take us back to Tokyo. The whole route was smooth and well-organized—perfect for a larger group traveling without a car.
Overall, I highly recommend Rakuten Stay!

We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

PPengguna TetamuThe private onsen service was terrible. Please do not get the private onsen. The receptionist in the onsen does not understand english. The receptionist also did not assist us. The time was also incorrect. We were supposed to have 8-9 and 9-10 slot. But ahe is so confused. And 9:30 they are already knocking our doors calling us to come out.
A totally bad experience in the private onsen.
The hotel is ok. Food is also good. The private onsen which was supposed to be the highlight of our trip… became the worst. Total waste of money

PPengguna TetamuYama No Chaya has its own beauty and serenity. I personally don’t find it hard to locate - 2 bus stops away from Hakone Yumoto station + a 5 minutes walk are worth the stay. (Bus service stopped for one of the days due to bad weather and we walked for 20 minutes to Hakone Yumoto Station - all good)
The team is very hospitable - they also have some English and Chinese speaking staff otherwise simple English is not an issue to communicate. Our butler - Sandip always carry a smile with him, and he ensured we are very well taken care of. Every morning, the team will prepare heat pack and umbrellas for us (it was raining and snowing). In the evening, they made tea and prepared snacks (vary from mochi to sushi) for us upon our returned.
The room we booked is Yamano Ichigo (main wing) - just nice for 2. The viewing platform was where we relaxed every evening and we soaked our tiredness away in our very own private onsen at the basement. Despite of having our own private onsen, I still went to visit 3 other public onsen within the Ryokan - you will not be disappointed.
Our room came with daily breakfast and we added on dinner for 1 night. I must say the chef and culinary team put in their passion and effort to prepare all the dishes. It’s not common for a visitor like me to taste Kaisekai cuisine which I enjoyed very much. You need to take time and an empty stomach to full experience it :) However, my partner and I weren’t used to heavy breakfast and our butler noticed it - we get to change to western style for the rest of the stay which was equally delicious. We are thankful that we minimised food wastage.
Overall, we felt pampered during our stay at Yama no Chaya :) I will return again in the future when I visit Hakone.

PPengguna Tetamu跨年在這裏度過美好一夜，服務員幾乎不通人和外語，卻友好善於溝通，先訂了公共浴室，後來剛好有空位改了帶私湯的，滿意度提高很多！酒店位置離箱跟湯本站很近，出租車1000日元以內，後來打不到車我們帶着孩子步行十五分鐘到車站也很舒服🏳️🌈

PPengguna TetamuWe only stayed for one night. This hotel is also used as a 1-day onsen for public so it was quite busy with a lot of people in the public areas and at the onsens. The room was slightly smaller than expected. The buffet breakfast and dinner were ok but nothing spectacular. The area outside the hotel was very picturesque though, and it's only a 10-15 min walk to the nearest station and you will pass all the souvenir shops and little eateries on the way so it's quite nice.

ААнна БучокOverall, the impression is positive, and we thank the staff for their care.
However, the ryokan is quite old, and inside all the rooms there is a smell of age, which makes it not very pleasant to stay there.
The Japanese food is very specific — it’s just my personal taste, but I couldn’t have breakfast or lunch there.
Considering that this was the most expensive “hotel” during our 14-day trip around Japan, our expectations were a bit higher.
In any case, we thank the staff for this unique experience.

Плюсы: сам отель, вежливый персонал, чистый большой, атмосферный номер с видом на горы, в стоимость входит общественный онсен, достаточно приятный особенно если вам повезет быть там одному, как повезло нам (были утром). В отеле есть автоматы с напитками и едой, что очень удобно, т к магазинов по близости нет. Можно заказать услугу отправки вашего багажа на станцию, чтоб не тащить самим, но мы не успели к сожалению, ее можно заказать до 10 утра.
Минусы: увы они сильно отпечатались, отель находит ся в ужасно не удобной отдаленной локации, прям в глуши куда сложно добраться, вдали от всех достопримечательностей за которыми вы едите, до них мы плыли на корабле, вдали от любых заведений где вы захотите раздобыть еду, заведения мало того что далеко, закрываются рано, открываются поздно, еще и цены завышены, а еда не вкусная.
Такси до места проживания вызвать не смогли, т к нужно было привязывать местный номер тел!сначала шли пешком с чемоданами по дороге, потом сели в автобус ( автобусы не принимали наш пасс, карту которую мы специально купили для Хаконэ, хотя автобусы в нее входят. А цена на них без карты явно завышена, 300р чтоб проехать 8 мин в гору.
Так как у нас был забронирован еще другой онсен индивидуальный в другом месте (20 мин езды) после него в 21 вечера поняли что автобусы уже перестали ходить, такси без шансов вызвать или поймать , пришлось идти пешком до отеля, а это 2 часа по темной дороге в горах, вокруг лес, и изредка попадаются фонари… ловили попутки никто не останавливается, даже такси. Спустя час дороги в гору (не передать наши эмоции) машина 10 по счету если не больше, остановилась и молодая пара японцев нас подвезла до отеля.
В общем сам отель хороший (кстати ночью еще было холодно, грелись кондиционером, но номер большой его сложно прогреть, спасибо были большие одеяла запасные) но все остальное в плане места ужас( Если будете останавливаться, заранее продумайте на чем будете ездить.
